What was the caution for on a previous comment...did you not like the truth...And the experts start speculating again, amazing how armchairs give expertise without even seeing the evidence. What is the point of having an enquiry when you guys have it all sussed. Remember someone is dead, your opinions matter not at all because you dont know untill the evidence is in. -
So we make something up...not very mature or intelligent.I think as pilots and armchair experts as we would like to call us would like to know what happend. And turbo is right we will never find what happend to this pilot and his aircraft. -
And What? My Xair had the same type of braking performance, I dont get your point...I make no comment on this incident, But I saw the aircraft on the day of it,s delivery to the Oaks.It came in touched down and stopped within three or four lengths of its size, Nose almost touching the ground as it braked to a stop!.spacesailor

Figuring it out is all very well but what is the evidence, who serviced it. was there as medical issue, how long is a piece of string? Any assumptions you arrive at will be of necessity flawed and possible plain wrong. RAA Aus may provide the answer if they find it out otherwise...? Specualtion helps no one and creates rumours that can be at the best wrong and at the worst damaging in the extreme. Common sense and INFORMED comment seems to be the order of the day, but hey, what do I know.Well robinsmYes a pilot has passed which is sadWhen do you think we will find out the cause?
ATSB won't be investigating so we won't know from them
RAA hasn't released information on any past fatals that I know of including the fatality involving my previously owned trike a number of years back so I won't hold my breath waiting for that
Maybe us armchair experts try to figure it out ourselves because no one else is going to tell us

What lessons, we dont know what happenned? You just want white space and no lessons at all?Unless ATSB step in there will be no report. -

Just reviewed my photos and video footage of this aircraft and the pilot. Very sad.

If this is the drifter from the oaks I hope the pilot is not the man name starting with S?

Remember the subs income actually paid for the organisation AND A MAGAZINE, before some bright spark had a brain wave and decided they knew better. The organisation was founded to be about Recreational aviation, not empire building, I realise that times and issues change but a what cost. The organisation seem to be supporting all sorts of semi GA activities now that are not within the purview of the basic owner built rag and tube flyer who just wants to get into the air and fly. Not battle 747's, passenger planes or other commercial flyers in our major cities. CASA runs GA, not Raa Aus. If they want to do that, go and form another organisation and leave the weekend flyer alone. Maybe someone can explain how the organisation used to survive with members and a paper magazine? Progress is not necessarily good for the sake of progress alone.Paper copy is a godd thing but is it worth the money, like hundred K or more, on top of the subs imcomeAt some point a value has to be placed on advertising value it brings for RAAThat money is one of the biggest costs RAA -us- has

Sorry Jetr, sent items and stories over the years after it was subcontracted out, nothing got published, looks like the advertising won and the manufacturers endorsements beat a rag and tube interstate flight with photos etc any day. Maybe it is time for the self interest back patting mag to go.The concept that the magazine was ever free is laughable. Who do people think was paying for it. The idea of splitting the price .......with who.If you want more about older types, submit something. The old magazine was in a downward spin. Shedding from the office a costly time consuming job is sensible
You do realise the classifieds are back?
Its still costing RAA -you- heaps for the paper copy even though few get it
Logic says it should be stopped altogether and the RAA would actually no longer be running deficit.
Wont be long and you will pay for all paper transactions and publications even from banks or suppliers.
Id recommend finding a solution to downloading and reading stuff from the web.

Sport pilot went west when the magazine was sub contracted out and recreational pilots lost control of it. The magazine seems to concentrate on the high end money spenders of the sport with only token acknowledgement of the actual "Ultralight" members. Don't bother with it any more since the classified ads have disappeared to commercial interests, members post have become few and far between. It seems to be a vehicle for the aggrandisement of the current RAA Aus management and as such is not really worth while any more. The removal of the the free magazine was a blatant money grab by the organisation at the expense of the members. If the costs had been maintained and not blown out with perks, salaries etc then the organisation would have retained its friendly family atmosphere but, hey, maybe that's progress, money as opposed to people count...

Even at security airports I was never asked for it either airside or otherwise. Waste of money.

It wasn't the quality of his work I was noting, I dont know the person, it was the prejudice I had problem with. That being said, I used a good LAME when I built and had extra inspections done to make sure I was doing it right and it was safe...Obviously your LAME friend is prejudiced against Raa aircraft. I think he/she needs to realise what RAA is all about. -
GA not RAA, I wonder if the LAME will say the same about the GA death traps..lolHow about the one at Bundaberg Queensland, that's been abandoned from NEW, nine years out in the weather, no wonder the rego reads VH-ILL.The owner is going to do something with it (one day), delaminated prop, etc.,Will they Fly it out?

Obviously your LAME friend is prejudiced against Raa aircraft. I think he/she needs to realise what RAA is all about.I Have a LAME friend who says RAA is full of death traps.Told my mrs that I should not build an aircraft because its too dangerous to maintain yourselfPics like this make it hard to argue.
Aircraft like this do nothing but harm to the hobby/pastime and make it harder for everyone who wants to build and
.maintain their own aircraft.
24 reg so probably owner is L2
Makes me cranky

would be fun reconditioning and restoring it though...lol

An award is not going to make you any safer, you should have done all this stuff before you got your certificate. Once you have your certificate, you should be practicing this stuff anyway. A bit of paper isnt going to make you an expert, it may satisfy your ego but thats about it. More expence for RAA Aus with bug..ger all return. Mini GA and ego land here we come...

This is a rubbish arguement, RAA Aus has no business trying to spend money on airfields etc, it is there to run the sport, not become landlords and airport owners. Spending money we dont have on real estate we dont need seems a criminal misuse of members funds. Winsor68 is correct, its not a club its an administration body.

Move the whole thing to Temora, already setup, good strips. good community. Fly in accomodation and an aviation aware community....

If global warming is connected to longer days because of daylight saving, can I buy curtains that dont fade with the increased sunlight and will the pirates stay if the temperature goes down in winter. Oh, because the world is flat, do the pirates sail off the end of it on cold days?
-
The content of the magazine has gone down markedly since it went electronic. Nowadays, I dont even bother reading it. All seems to be pointed towards the top end of the sport money wise.

Correct Col, I agree wholeheartedly, but it does not excuse this other cr.p.
Loss of control surface
in Student Pilot & Further Learning

Came across an sapphire aircraft a couple of years ago where the pilot found, on landing, that the covering for his elevator had disappeared. The cloth had departed the aircraft and the pilot did not notice much difference in the handling. True story, makes you think.
I think the loss of the rudder would present a real problem...no fine directional control, could make landings and take offs interesting...lol
