  1. twas said before and worth saying againThe length of debate about a flight manoeuvre is always inversely proportional to the complexity of manoeuvre. Thus, if the flight manoeuvre is simple enough, debate approaches infinity.

    That's gold.

  2. No I'm cool with all the theory. It's just that with these threads you tend to get confused by the end of it and start second guessing yourself. Don't get me wrong, I love to have a place to sound of ideas that you may be a bit hazy on but it's a simple fact that with all the answers it can be confusing.

  3. Craig I think it's a great blog.

Something I've learnt myself: Sometimes there is a theory that you just can't quite grasp from one persons perspective and on later reflection you can't work out an answer. I think this forum is fantastic to help with those problems, I wish it was around when I was starting my flying.

I gotta say though, sometimes I finish a thread more confused then when I started... (is it P.A.T. recovering from climb or A.P.T....)

    Anyways, happy flying.

  4. I was thinking it would be nice so taht when my father takes his family out on the boat to surfers, coult just fly down, meet them down there for lunch then fly back.

Still a long way off for me, was just interested since the subject came up.

  5. Hey all,

I was just curious about something today. My favourite aircraft is a pitts special. I was having a look around and saw that they sell for fairly cheap ($50k-100k us) which means that owning one isn't a pipe dream.

I was then thinking, are there any requirement to fly a certain type of aircraft?

I mean can I fly a pitts special with an ra/ppl or do you need some sort of further rating.

What about an extra 300 (I am talking non-aerbatic flying here of course).

And if you do need extra ratings for particular aircraft, how do you know what it is you need?

    Cheers,

  6. I noted you said that the effect on yaw was increased when you increased rpm, say in a climb. Is this increased in these RA machines than say in a cherokee?

I am going to be doing my first flight in a Jabiru (previously only flown cherokees) and didn't realise it had that much of an effect? THe only time you get major yaw on the cherokee is after a touch and go.

  7. Gees that only took 5 minutes, is that some sort of a record for "Guess the Airstrip"?Yes, Amberley it is, first day of the air show.

My next "Guess the Airstrip" will be less obvious, I hope.

    Safe flying to all.

    Sean.

C17s kind of gave it away...

  8. Hey all,

Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Jason and I have been into flying for some time. I started my training in High School but due to fiscal reasons dropped off the radar so to speak for about 10 years.

I have just returned and have so far done my 3 hours solo. I am changing schools to do an RA license as I currently have a career as an accountant and have no desire to become a commercial pilot.

Fav aircraft (of which I have the RC version) is a Pitts Special.

    Cheers,
