  1. Interesting story...

My 8 year old brother was given an rc heli for christmas (just one of the little infrared ones). Did the silly thing and took it out into the sun. Anyway, either the sun messed with the infrared or something else went wrong; the thing started going up and just kept going. We couldn't reverse it or anything. It just kept going till I could no longer see it with naked eye. Imagine if that happened somewhere where acft were on final or something.

  2. I think you all have buckleys chance of having the airspace changed. The red tape surrounding such things, and the cost of implementing into maps, atc systems (eurocat map upgrades etc) are too high.

Noone who is asking for CTA endorsements wants added costs and requirements on the guys who don't want to use it. We are asking only that we look into the issue. If it can be accessed for those who want it (regardless of what hoops they have to jump through) without affecting those who don't want it then what is the harm?

We are asking only that the issue be looked into again.

Oh and your VFR routes through CTA or Class E above aerodromes would be an absolute nightmare for ATC. Class E is horrible, I am with Rhys on this one. IFR pickup is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Especially in the one time I've seen it.

    Cheers,

  3. Hi guys,

Given that ATC only ever rarely deal with 24 or 19 reg most don't understand how it works. Also if you lodge your flight plan as 24-1234 and call up "flutterbug 1234" we need to look up the flight plan which we would have to guess either 24 or 19. Most ATC wouldn't even know to try it with those numbers in front.

Given that most ATC don't even know how the rego works for these things be a bit kind when dealing with them. I am trying to raise awareness of these things when I see it on my sector but can't help you on the rest of the country. I am a bit amazed that nowhere in our training do we cover the 24 or 19 reg or even the existence of non vh reg acft. Tower guys probably get more exposure to enroute.

    And remember:

    AIP ENR 1.1-85

52.2.3 The preferred method to cancel a SARTIME is via telephone to

CENSAR on 1800 814 931. When telephone facilities are not

available you may use ATS frequencies.

Although of course if you need to change enroute then we will be happy to help where we can.

    Cheers,

    Shags

  4. The internal storage is not the ram. Interval storage is where apps can write to so that other apps can't access the file (or the user for that matter).

Then there is external storage (the inbuilt sd) where the files are accessible by the user and all apps.

Then there is the external sd card if the phone supports it. Acts like the external storage.

Developers can choose where there apps cab install to it write files to.

  5. I don't have avplan and not sure if it natively supports SD card but on android to install apps to sd card:

    Go into settings

    Go to Apps

    Select the app (avplan)

If it can be isntalled to SD card, then there will be an option in there to install to SD card.

Hope this helps. I love Android and will never buy an Apple Product. Avplan will be my next purchase (through the ClearProp store of course ;) )

  6. I like dealing with the CFS guys. They are good fun.

I am the worst at some of these place names. There is a place up near Kowanyama (or however it's spelt) that I can't pronounce. Glad I don't operate that sector anymore...

On a side note. Had a Qlink the other day request ND for Westcamp. Seems as though noone knows what to call brisbane west/wellcamp.

  7. We don't mind you doing these calls as they are required. The atc let's you know it's on area as we regularly get aircraft forget to change to ctaf and they thank us. Don't read anything into this.

You may get an atc get angry but you are right to do this. It does get annoying when a call breaks through and you're trying to coord something but we will survive.

  8. Hi mate. I have tried all three schools mentioned in these posts... Gofly, Caboolture recreational Aviation, Pathfinder.

Caboolture Recreational... Not a big fan of the school or their methods, but that is a personal opinion. Some people find their methods great, just didn't work for me, not to mention I hate flying Jabs.

Pathfinder... Great school with great instructors. I hate flying Jabs but they now have some of the Cessna LSA's I believe. They are slightly more expensive than the other two schools but have a PPL conversion course and you get experience in class D.

GOFLY is my definite recommendation. Doesn't matter if you have only flown Jabs, Once you fly the Tecnam you will realise how messed up the Jabs really are. The instructors there are also top notch and their prices are fantastic. I can't recommend these guys enough.
