  1. What sizes were you after, need brass inserts??
  2. Hear on the grapevine that every thing has been moved to america. Shame, another great NZ gone overseas.
  3. When I had our bisiness we could do up to 4 inch (100 mm) but needed a big router with plenty of torque. Might still have some fitting in the junk I kept. Let me know and I will find out where I bought them.
  4. There are spinweld with brass insert threads so you reduce the possibility of cross threading the fitting. You also need to clean the weld area with acetone or metho. There is also a SLIP or friction reducing agent you apply for better bonding. Also helps with cleanning up.
  5. Looks like to tanks are rotomoulded so there will be uneven thickness on the internal surface of the tank, as much as 2-3mm, so using a metal fitting it will leak as it doesnt have a flat surface to work against. If all else fails you can use a SPIN WELD fitting which can give you a chance of salvaging the tank, then use a metal hose barb fitting to connect your hose to.
  6. Had a look a the auction and it seems like they are selling off the prototype items. The 2 fusilades are from the ditching in the bay and the prang when the flap link failed and they put it on its side. Same as rhe gearboxs and turbines, so looks like they are having a cleanout. Note that this auction is authorised by the liquidators. Maybe they will phoenix????
  7. Wondering what was going on with them, started out as the KC 158 turbine 6 seater kit, Peter Molony was heading up the project. Must have been about 5 years work for him. Next thing I see Innova was in the limelight and everything has gone quiet. Even their emails have gone quiet as well so wondering if they are moving offshore. Huge potential but were flight testing to certification last I heard. Looks like the same way the Delta diesel helicopter went. Interesting to see the moulds for the fusilade up for sale. Bought some low or rebuilt zero time turbines from US a few years back to make up about 10 kits to sell to finance the project and to move it forward. Maybe innova put some money out and return on investment hasnt worked out so selling off their assets. I did send them an email about 3 months ago to see if they were going to avalon but no reply. So see what hapens now. Thanks for the post.
  8. Trouble with this story is alot of questions will get asked by a governing body, like, how was the maintainance do to prep the aircraft for a jump to jandakot, how the fuel appeared in the tanks, tower clearance?..now that!! is a good story, all this just happened one morning. Left alot of people scratching their heads. Shame York airfield isnt long enough, would need an AG pilot / 737-200 experience to drop this baby down.
  9. I understand the 3rd Oz jet is at Jandakot for training purposes. Rumor is that they BORROWED some fuel, apparently a couple of pilots from the US arrived early one morning, flew it to jandakot, jumped back on the plane headed back to the US and no body or everybody knew nothing. APPARENTLY.
  10. There are 3 levels of solidworks. 1 design and 3d drawings 2 animation and layers 3 cosmos FEA anaysis. So if you want the higher levels there is a cost. For the beginner it is a good programme as there is a tuition section on the right hand top taskbar. When you teach yourself and run into trouble, an icon will light up, by clicking on the icon it will referance on your drawing for you to contiue. Cosmos is a FEA programme but you may need to have an engineer to help with the paremters of the materials you are testing, you computor will need a very good quality video card as this will cause a hiccup in the analysis, but in general good to play with. Try and work backwards meaning have a picture in your mind and break each design part like you would in a jigsaw. also you can download consumables off the web from suppliers and save them into a library and bring them across as you go. good fun
  11. Hi interesting reading, my project.! Shed cleanout and came accross a mid 2000 rotoway. Read forums and threads and there sems to be more against than for. Decided to strip out thr drive train and rebuild with a subaru diesel and a remanufctured gearbox. What I lose in weight with the motor I should be able to get back with a new aliminium planetary gearbox. Tail rotor, I am looking at a hydralic Drive. Numbers look like stacking up so far. See how the final weigts and CG works out.
