Part 61 lists the requirements for a person to taxi an aircraft - and pax are not included.

Fate is the Hunter, I think ...

RH seat was unoccupied:
The occupant seating positions were established from information provided by Victoria Police. This information indicated the front right or co-pilot seating position was unoccupied. -

Isn't that what your MAP gauge reads? But instead of vacuum, it reads out in absolute pressure?

One of my all times favourites was a sign on a light pole in New Jersey which said "Bill Posters Will Be Violated".
Conjured up some pretty unpleasant images of what might happen back at the station!

"Radio" is an endorsement on the RPC.

Yenn - email received from RAAus few days ago.Where did slb get that information. I have not received it from RAAus and it is not posted on their web site. Is it a fair dinkum word from our beloved leaders, or is it pie in the sky? -
60% of the total 10,866 piston or turboprop aircraft (excluding motor gliders and rotorcraft) were manufactured in 1980 or earlier.
For just piston, the figure rises to 64%.
-
Fair comment - the list is all VH registered, including jets, rotorcraft, gliders, balloons, etc.
Would be possible to extract the data - it comes from the CSV file on the CASA website.

Pretty good memory FT - of the 15,529 on the register today, 7,569 (48.7%) were manufactured in 1980 or earlier.

No, it is not - and many of us went directly to PPL without RPL - in my view RPL is a waste of time if you intend to go for PPL.

The full archive is here.If you have access to the old crash comics I would love to read an article from about 1972.- 1

Agreed on the health systems, having experienced both. You only have to compare the varoius western countrys health systems to get a very good insight into how their citizens are regarded and treated and american pharmaceutical companies are flatout terrified of our own PBS system for its cost slashing ability for those in need of prescription medication. But while the pharma companies bitch like hell about the PBS, they actually love it - taking a slight discount is a cheap price for removing all the price signals!

High wing, must be a Cessna ...

Sorry bex - misinterpreted your post!

There something seriously wrong with the plane when you both jump out at 5000 ft.
Nope - Dave and his team need to take it to the extremes of the flight envelope for certification, they're called test pilots for a reason.
If you ever get a chance to talk to him about his experiences, take it - his knowledge of aviating is incredible, and he has a way of communicating it with insight and humour.

Was Dave Wheatland in the drivers seat this time as in the GA8 that spun in in testing years ago.
Yep - Dave was one of the pilots, apparently in hospital but OK.
He tells a very interesting and humorous tale about the time he bailed out near LTV!

A great idea, I'm talon ya!

I have been ramp checked just after landing and the checkers would have no idea of how much fuel I had on board. They cannot tell by looking at the gauges, nor do they have the required dipstick. I don't think they were even interested when I was checked. it was just to be seen to be doing something at a fly in as part of their safety promotion. The real concern is that CASA seem to be completely losing the plot and their output is quite obviously not done by anyone with any practical knowledge of flying.
What they will be checking on a ramp check will be your fuel calculations. I'm sure we all do them and write them down in our fuel log - starting with ground speed along track made good (distance along track, time), actual consumption (fuel used, time), time to destination (ground speed made good, distance to go, corrected for wind changes, etc), fuel required to destination (time, consumption plus variable reserve), fuel remaining (net of fixed reserve). And update regularly, and to 5 decimal places!
Remember maintaining a fuel log is on the ramp check checklist ...
