  1. G’day Chris, we are the current owners here in Australia. She has had a fairly productive life here in Australia as it’s almost got 3500ttis. Had a new engine installed in 2016 and has now done 75hrs on it. we are getting a few people flying it now so it’s back in the air and having fun Brad
  2. Before CASA took flight safety online only, all the guys at work would get their copy in the mail, read it that night and For the next week at smoko was a complete and total debrief of what was in the magazine, including the quiz questions in the back. At the time we had a 2 apprentices and 3 lames (55+years old, no offence) and numerous young pilots there, all quite computer literate. Since they went web based I personally have not read one single article let alone the whole magazine. There has been no discussion either which makes me think that the others are not reading it either. The same thing happens here in Narromine when there is an interesting article in the magazine, members see it flicking through the mag and talk about it. With a digital copy I feel you only tend to look for the things applicable to you and miss an awful lot of perhaps life saving information. And another thing, I won't be leaving my iPad at the doctors surgery or on the gliding room bench for others to read and look thru once I've dissected it........
  3. Hopefully, we just have to confirm this with council as the Aerodrome operator. The caravan park has indicated that they will have their amenities available for a small fee that will be released as we get closer to finalising details. Thanks for your interest. Brad
  4. SAAA chapter 38 extended BBQ. With the temporary demise of AUSFLY for this year, Members of the local chapter, 38, were faced with the prospect of having a very lonely meeting. Therefore after a quick discussion among the Chapter Exec, it has been decided to hold a flyin open to all interested parties together with an extended BBQ, held on the same dates. Friday 12th through to Sun 14th Sept at Narromine aerodrome. The initial response to this proposal has been overwhelming. Many exhibitors have already expressed their wish to attend and display their wares, and it also seems likely that informative sessions will be run in conjunction with the "extended BBQ". As this is a preliminary notice to all interested parties, there is little detail, simply as the Exec, at this stage, has no idea as to details. Once we have received the approval of all relevant authorities, then we can announce further plans. It will be "different" but hopefully very relevant to aviation. Further details contact Brad Naylor ([email protected]) or Neil Unger ([email protected])
  5. Good morning all Can I ask a question regarding ausfly. In your personal opinion, What is the most important part of ausfly? Trade displays, Airshows or just the fly in and social side of it. We (gliding club, aeroclub and the local saaa chapter 38) are desperately trying to get something together. This event was a major thing for Narromine and the airport precinct. We are hopeing that whatever we can produce in the next 10 weeks will be well supported. Standby for further details. Thanks for your feedback Brad
  6. I agree entirely and realise this but I also wonder how much of this kind of bureaucracy is holding us back from growing those numbers.
  7. I agree with what kaz is saying. It's time all the little groups stopped peddling their individual causes and promote aviation as a whole. It shouldn't matter what people are flying as long as there flying something. I, like many others on here, am a member of nearly all the recreational/sport aviation bodies, RAAUS, SAAA, GFA, AAAA and the American EAA. When it comes to renewal time I dread it more than car rego and insurance. All in its close to a grand. While the EAA membership is $40 for international membership to an active association that covers all of these same groups of aviation. I realise it can't be compared to Australia as the active aviation population is minuscule when compared to the states but in this day of regulatory oversight surely there is some benefit in working together to do same thing. I am unaware what the aeroclub are planning but the gliding club will be open and if the demand is there meals will be available and the beers will be cold. I know that the local accommodation outlets have awoken to a hell of a surprise with people cancelling their accommodation today and personally I couldn't blame people for not bothering next year. Rant over. For now.
  8. This is how I found out and I have my plane in the hanger just up the apron, was all kept very quiet. To save me from re typing what I think it's on the Facebook link below. What would you guys think of a major/ minor event. Ie major air show event one year then just a bar and BBQ type event the following year? I agree with Old Koreelah, as I have posted on their FB, why does anything have to be organised? I'm sure we will feed and water anybody that decides to come for some of the best sunsets to be seen from an aeroclub/gliding club deck. 9. Any answer on the flooding issue from floods????
  10. If you want to really get a feel for the stresses involved in a flap system fly a Beech Sundowner with manual flaps, unless your speeds are correct you will struggle to get the handle off the floor, also extending above Vfe puts some big loads on the rear spar!!!
  11. Flew the RV-12 in september last year at the vans factory, beutifully balanced and good speeds considering a that stage it didn't have spats or fairings, Currently undergoing flight testing now. flys very similar to the sportstar, about half the price, it was a fairly crap day and in the cruise shows about 118kts indicated. If the funds allowed would order one in a heart beat. thats my 2 bobs worth anyhow. Cheers Brad
