Cheers and a happy new year to you, have another bourbon for me! The small pic shows the bolt in place, it acts as the pivot for the brake arm. The larger pic is after I went a bit overboard with the tightening. Apparrently because both ends have teeth that grip together it does not need to be tightened very much?

Right now I want the RH down tube that makes up the A frame behind the pilot seat and the bolt with teeth that holds on the brake arm.....
-
I have given it MUCH thought. Was just talking to Trevor Bange yesterday about the need for it. I want to be involved in any way shape or form!
-
What a great sounding project, I wish you all the best.

SO AWESOME!!! Keep us updated! Will you be putting ceconite on the tail or any other differences with regards to the fabric? Also what anti-corrosion measures are you taking?

Hahaha, funny you mention the tyres as kiwi at Boonah modified his spat brackets so they fit over balloon wheels haha

Hello Drifter drivers. I am refurbishing my Maxair Drifter and replacing the sails even though they are in good condition with years worth of use left.
They are from a wire braced wing, the sale does not include the battons, aileron skins, hardware or tail feathers, just the material. See photos attached.
Considering the price of new skins, these are a bargain at $500.00

G'day mate, well have to agree to disagree on that one, they act as excellent mud guards, hava a look at the underside of a Drifter that has spats and one that doesn't. I also have a mirror fitted to my left hand spat, or as I call it, my ''Fuel guage'' LOL - They will not add 1/10th of a knot of airspeed though hahahaDont bother looks better withoutTo answer the original post, I beleive there is a guy called Andy (?) in the northen NSW who has moulds and can make, if you contact Kiwi at Boonah 0438 250 404 I'm pretty sure he knows how to get in touch with him, Hope this helps.

I like the idea of being able to reflex them for a few extra knots. 50kts can get a bit tedious especially with a headwind. Interested on your progress tim

Dazza, Justin's Drifter has flaps and ailerons, not flapperons.
-
I hope you mean Ailerons Timbo!!! hahaha. From what I have heard over the years they (the seperate flap/aileron config.) is an unnecessary addition to something like the Drifter ....But keep us updated on your decision I'd be interested to see what difference they make and how you'd go about desiging them.....

Awesome Ballpoint. The way it should be.
-
I agree Escarille, the training these days doesn't seem to focus so much on engine failures and having landing options at all times......
