  1. I wouldn't say I'm a Jab basher......but you can call me whatever haha - I've done a lot of hours in jabs and they are an ...OK aircraft in the grand scheme of things, but anyone who has spent enough time around a hangar or flying club knows they have some serious drawbacks which spoils what could be a fantastic aircraft, an aircraft that in fact - will be, (once all the R+D - crashes/failures/modifiactions) are carried out by the R+D department. (the owners)

I'm a Jabiru fan, I want to see them succeed, they are awesome, but why dance around the elephant in the room because you own one.

Take a little browse at this page by experienced Pilot Carl Holden.

  2. Skyfox Gazelle. A blind 5 year old could fly one....... They are also very boring to fly.

Having said that, when I was a hangar rat I watched a first solo pilot wheel barrow one into the ground and keep pushing forward again and again until the (very strong, Bill Whitney designed) nose wheel folded and down she went...........................the mind boggles.......

Speaking to a VERY experienced/renowned instructor a few years later I was rambling about how easy the Gazelle was to fly and he said something that I will never forget "that may be so but it will still kill you''

Some may think that's a bit morbid but he is right, the minute we start thinking we can just fluff along because the plane is so easy to fly and we've done it a million times and we know this and we know that, just tell yourself.........this plane could kill me in an instant if I don't respect it.

    My 2 cents.....

  3. Had a magnificent flight from Boonah to the Gold Coast today for lunch with Nanna.

Superb conditions although overcast. Included a flight along the coastline and even a few chandelles and wingovers overhead the 'thrillseekers' at the QLD moto Park just outside Boonah.

  4. Hi guys. Does anyone out there know the correct way to descend with a 503 i.e what power setting? Do I go full idle for 500ft then power up to get temps then idle down another 500ft, or do I pull back to about mid range 3800rpm and cruise down. What is best for the engine? Thanks

  6. To explain that comment further, when I was learning to fly a Drifter I accepted that the fan might stop and flew accordingly, but a modern factory built LSA if properly maintained ahold be just as reliable as a GA aircraft.

035_doh.gif.37538967d128bb0e6085e5fccd66c98b.gif GA aircraft are just as ''unreliable'' as any aircraft since the Wright brothers. All pilots should take to the skies with a plan in place for when (not if) things go wrong, no matter what you are flying.
