Bonding trailing edges?

Recommended Posts

Goodaye all

What is the thoughts of bonding trailing edes instead of riverting?

l have been using sikaflex for sealing and bonding before riverting, soon l will be doing the tail and was thinking of bonding the rudder and elevator trailing edges.

Is there a better product or method?

The Couger uses pop rivets on the edges, l am looking for a neater finish.

If my memory serves me, the pop rivets used for this job on Morgan airplanes have what is called a Universal Head. This head is dome shaped and stands proud of the surface. If you want to get a neater finish, you could use countersunk head rivets such as the CherryMax CR3212 series.

HI Brue Im going to use Sika or similar when I do my Rv 4 rudder and elevator along the trailing egde internaly.Im still going to Rivet but, internal use of a silicon type compound helps to prevent cracking thath RVs do . Maybe doesnt help you with your A/c but just a thought.
