  1. XCOM 760 VHF Aircraft Transceiver for Sport Aircraft, Ultralights and other Aircraft Needing Clear Powerful Transmission LSA, Light sport aircraft - That works a heap better :) I use it in my videos. Check the video library. I'm not affiliated with Xcom Avionics either. Thanks, Andrew
  2. Hi David, I explained my setup here: http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/video-clips-forum/98355-circuit-compilation.html#post201826 - Bindoon was VERY busy yesterday, I couldn't believe how many aircraft were flying around, it was a little like Jandakot! Was a crosswind, hence the crap landing. Bindoon's a great place, the strip is well maintained, the people are great & I love flying there. -Andrew Thanks mate  -Andrew
  3. This is video of my first training area solo in the Jabiru J160C over Bindoon. I went approx. 05nm out and practiced some stalls (clean, flaps, power on and approach config - however only clean is uploaded), steep truns & side slips. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed flying it :). http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/vbtube_show.php?do=tube&tubeid=462&name=first-training-area-solo-yboo-j160c#watch
  4. Hi Pud & Keith, Yes I tend to blab my calls out very fast and yes it is Bindoon Abandoned, as a matter of fact when I did my TIF I had to ask my instructor what he was saying because I couldn't interpret the abandoned part. I'll work on slowing down this weekend. It's just the camera view that gives off the deceiving view, if you take a look at some of my other videos on youtube with the camera mounted above my head, all is ok. Thanks for commenting.. Since I'm a low hours pilot, I need people to comment on my flying/radio etc... so in return I can improve it. Regards. Andrew
  5. Hi Sam, I bought 3 because they were so cheap, so if one breaks I've got a backup. Shipping took around 2 weeks to WA. I look forward to seeing some of your new videos! -Andrew
  6. Hi David, Pretty sure the sheet said the instructor was $110/hr so that would make it $150/hr solo + landing fees. I pay $155 dual and $115 solo for a J160C. -Andrew
  7. Sorry for going off topic, but I paid $260/hr at RACWA (Royal Aero Club of WA). -Andrew
  8. Hey Sam & Alley, I've attached a picture to describe where I mounted the camera a bit better than words. I'm currently using a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV19E (7 years old) and an Aiptek HD200 for recording. I use this mount to stick it to the window: Suction Mount Tripod Holder For Car Window Camera Hold - eBay, Other Accessories, Video Camera Accessories, Cameras. (end time 13-Jun-10 13:58:38 AEST) Image is courtesy of the Jabiru website & the picture displays a J120, I fly the J160. Hope this helps, -Andrew
  9. This is video of a few solo circuits at Bindoon Aerodrome in Bindoon, Western Australia... Video contains intercom so you can hear some of my running commentary as well as radio calls. I've almost completed my RA-Aus Pilot Certificate (Ultralight/LSA Licence for Australia) hope you enjoy them. http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/vbtube_show.php?do=tube&tubeid=460&name=circuit-compilation#watch
  10. Hi Sam, Welcome to the forum. I'm glad to see another J160 pilot on board! I love your videos & I've subscribed. If you wanna check some of mine out look up 'sseeker21' I've got a few videos on there with different camera views. Be sure to link your youtube videos to our video gallery by going to: Multimedia > Video Library on the top menu bar. -Andrew
  11. Hi David, I fly the Jabiru J160C usually. Jabiru aileron response isn't the best at low airspeed but it's fine at higher airspeeds. The C152A requires minimal input to the controls even at low airspeed, but keep in mind the C152A ailerons are about 3x the size of the Jabiru's. The rudder is very touchy on the ground, but in the air I didn't notice that much difference. My first observations would be the toe brakes, they're very sensitive. In the Jabiru you need to think ahead a bit, the rudder is pretty firm on the ground. Good luck with your flight in the Jab! I'm sure you'll enjoy it  Yes I had the option to get a refund, credit or go flying... -Andrew
  12. Hi everyone, Well today was the day, I went down to Jandakot and guess what? XXXXty weather so no spinning for me... I did 1.1hrs of flying in the C152, which included a PFL, 1x Clean Stall & 1x landing config stall, 45 and 60 degree steep turns & my graceful departure from the Earth (as John King would say). I can confirm, after 26.7 hours dual and 2.2 hours solo in the Jabiru, you should be able to fly a C152A. I took out VH-RWQ from the Royal Aero Club of WA, I did the preflight, hopped in and went through the endless checklist to start her up. She coughed, spluttered and started and after 4,600 hours you'd expect her too. Well the nerves started because I could no longer rest my hand on the lovely hand brake like in the Jab, it was all in the feet. After a bit of swerving around I got the hang of it, we arrived at the run up bay, did our run ups and lined up... Takeoff was rather weird because the rudder pedals are really light, departed Jandakot via Yangebup Lake and then to Lake Thomson. Begun our steep turns, not that hard... Went over to the training paddock, did a PFL and she was impressed... Went over to a forrest and did some stalls (yeah I thought it was kinda weird that she wanted to do stalls over the top of a forrest at 3500ft) and there was no comments there either, apart from 'good' lol. Came back into Jandakot via Six South then Forrestdale Lake, instructor let me do absolutely everything from joining the circuit to landing, and the landing wasn't bad either! A bit off center but I touched twice (softly) All up it was a good flight, easy aircraft to fly and I'll go back again to do spins in the near future... -Andrew
  13. Hey Jools, Welcome to Recreational Flying, you'll enjoy the flight training, it's loads of fun! I see you're training on the 160, great aircraft. Good luck with your training and let us know how it all goes (especially the first solo) Regards, Andrew
  14. Hi Pud, I just used one of these to mount on the window: Suction Mount Tripod Holder For Car Window Camera Hold - eBay, Other Accessories, Video Camera Accessories, Cameras. (end time 18-Jun-10 13:58:26 AEST) Dunno how you could do it on the Thruster since the only smooth surface is the glass... Or maybe you could try the outside of the pod? :ah_oh: -Andrew
  15. Hey Pud, This video was taken from todays flight. I had to use our old Sony Handycam because my new HD camera doesn't have an audio line in. Glide approaches are always fun, this was the first time I'd done them solo. Intercom was easy to record, I purchased an intercom recording cable from Xcom Avionics @ XCOM 760 VHF Aircraft Transceiver for Sport Aircraft, Ultralights and other Aircraft Needing Clear Powerful Transmission LSA, Light sport aircraft for $30AUD. Regards, Andrew
  16. J160C Circuit + Glide Approach with Intercom/Radio! http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/vbtube_show.php?do=tube&tubeid=447&name=j160c-circuit-glide-approach-intercom-radio#watch
  17. Hi Pud, Nah didn't fly today this was some old footage. I'm flying tomorrow for some x wind training and hopefully training area solo. Hope it wasn't anything major with the T300, good luck! -Andrew
  18. Some video of solo circuits filmed at Bindoon in WA. The aircraft is registered under the sport aviation category in Australia (RA-Aus) http://www.recreationalflying.com/forum/vbtube_show.php?do=tube&tubeid=446&name=solo-circuits-bindoon-wa#watch
  19. Awesome work, so glad it went well and good luck with the rest of your flying :) -Andrew
  20. Hi Tom, I broke the silent switch on mine, sent it in and 7 days later I had a brand new iPhone shipped to me :) Very happy with the service. Recently theres been a break where someone installed Android on the iPhone, you have to have it jailbroken (no that does not void your warranty) but you have to be pretty computer literate to do it. HTCs look much nicer than the iPhone imo and I own an iPhone :hittinghead: Regards, Andrew
  21. Hi David, I can confirm that the testing Jabs have been spun properly - not sure what happened after that though. Regards, Andrew
  22. Hi Nev, It's on the first page in a users post, I won't name the user but just take a look. By the way I appreciate everyones opinion, obviously it's going to be something different but I'm actually really looking forward to it. Not just the spins, but flying something I haven't flown in a year. Regards, Andrew
  23. Morning, For everyones benefit, I have received the good news that the Affordaplane is an approved CAO 95.10 aircraft type. Regards, Andrew
  24. Lol when I went for a flight in a Thruster my instructor said there was no brakes & my response was, "Well how do we stop?" he goes, "Slowly..." I don't like it but it's not that hard to stop after all... -Andrew
