45 minutes was too much time to watch for me. Looks like fun but they DO have a bit of difficulty not falling to one side when taking off.. There's no emergency chute  is there?  Nev

yes. some of them have an emergency chute that they throw out by hand .

Do paramotors have a reserve parachute?

Cheap Insurance. Reserve parachutes are an absolute must-have in paramotoring - that is completely non-negotiable on our team.

They take a while to unfurl.  There would be a recommended MINIMUM Height.  Nev

I think we are talking.about 2 different things. The video shows powered parachutes like turbo is talking about. And that is what I meant when I said they already have a parachute on.  But they do carry a small reserve as well which would need some height to work.

What's the minimum height they can be effective?.  Nev

Just thinking about this. Do you mean they may have a high sink rate. I was thinking of normal parachutes but of course these powered ones would be a lot smaller I guess.

As a nature reserve, the best you can hope for is to find a tight seal.

did you hear about the penquin that noticed his car was leaking oil on a hot day so he took it to the garage. while waiting he went over the road and bought a soft serve cone. on the way back he tripped and spilt the soft serve. the mechanic working on his car said , you blew a seal. the penquin looked disgusted and replied its ice cream.😁

Looks like it's a nature reserve.

So the quarantine stations will be 2x 3m tinnies powered by Evinrude 3.5hp motors, parked either end.  (Example on 1 end crudely drawn in).

if you look to the right side of the island there is enough length to chip out a runway for the thrusters near the proposed casino and bowls club.

Looks like it's only about 40km from the Vic coast.  Not much on the island, but looks reasonably flat in parts.  They did well getting it down safely then continuing.

its not too far from wilsons prom.   the hogan group, there are few smaller islands there too and the only land border between tassy and vic.

Well there you go - I apologise for my assumption  that your aircraft has a cowl - I see so few aircraft with open to air engines, in fact I can't remember when I last saw one, must have been many years ago. I guess you have little choice, other than to restrict airflow for each heat exchanger, if you want to raise temperatures.

There are plenty of ultralights still around . Mine is a 2004 model but it is still available new.

Everyone seems to go for the air inlets (when reducing flow) - On my last aircraft, I found it easier and very effective, to have Winter & Summer fixed cowl flaps. The Winter flap, went on when day temperatures consistently remained below 25C and off when temperatures consistently went above 25C. As I had an overcooling situation, in the warmer months, I replaced the large Winter flap with a very much smaller Summer version.

The flaps were just shaped Aluminium sheets, held in place using small screws/washers/lock nuts. The larger flap, had two small  aluminium angle stiffeners/ribs pop riveted to the inside, to reduce the chances of flutter.

I probably went through three test versions of each to get the right size/air flow restriction.

Good Idea but my ultralight has the engine fully exposed not In a cowl.

Have you had the gauge tested for accuracy? The first thing a Lame will do when looking at cooling issues is check the gauge.

No ,I haven't checked the gauge. I am sure it works fine. I don't have any issues , its just low oil temp on cold days. I usually only run it early in the day.

We did a 50 km flight this morning and oil temp went to 90 and stayed there so I will leave it as is. It is  a hot day , I have never seen it come up to 90 before . Cooler did its job.
