  1. Commer knocker is naturally balanced with 2 piston moving opposite directions and sharing 1 combustion chamber but there is always a downside and with the commer it the complex system of converting linear motion to rotary motion.

Hi Shane was that renewal of rego. Or an application for an expired rego for an aircraft that has been off the registration for a period.  I’m not 100% about my post but it is the way I read the fees schedule. Cheers.

Where can i find the fees schedule

I doubt there's a lot of new genuine parts for the 582. In future get about 3 of them and build up one good engine. Legal life is 300 hours but you can get double that if you look after it and don't get carbon in the ring grooves. It's not an overly stressed engine. Nearly 600cc for 65 HP.  Nev

    Good thinking.

New ones will be harder to get next year but parts around for a long time and you will be able to get a zero timed rebuild done for about $7000 when I last checked a month ago.

In fact was even thinking when I get the new one, might sent the old one away and get it done for a spare I will probably never use 🙂

Thats good to know. Having a spare on the shelf is a good idea too. Wouldn't they want your old block as an exchange.

  5. I am not interested in going faster or anything else. Curious thats all.. whatever replaces the 582 when they bite the bullet will have to be a 4 stroke or electric.  2 strokes will be extinct.   I am sure the 582 will be around for a fair while yet . At least until the parts supply dwindles.

  6. Apologys if this topic is already covered but i would like to know if a 912 can replace a 582 on a t300 or is it not allowed under certification.

Its not something i am planning to do . Just curious.

    Great to hear BrendAn!

I think they are a lot of fun to fly - ive only flown T500 so far but mine should be airworthy soon. Still waiting on a few parts.

Found a LAME who runs a machine shop - so he is making the bits I need 🙂

Seems that half of Tasmania has flown my plane at some stage - so its has a great history.

Love to see pics of your T300 🙂

I have to wait for covid restrictions to lift before i pick it up then i will post some pics.  Would like to see some of yours and jacks too.

No comment on the "easier" but it will certainly give you excellent ground handling skills and I dont think you will require a tricycle undercarriage endorsement if you want to fly a nose pusher.

The man who gave me that advice also told me the thruster ground handling is harder to learn but once you master it you can fly anything.

A lot of plane drivers are scared of conventional U/C machines which is a shame as they teach proper handling skills which is sadly lacking in so many plane drivers these days:-(

I have been told it is easier for me to learn in a taildragger from scratch rather than convert later.

    Hi team,

I have recently purchased a TST/300 and putting her back in the air.

Was in storage for sometime so a few bits missing.

I am chasing the small bushes that fit at the front of the fin (under and below the fues tube).

Does anyone know of any or have any!

Look forward to sharing more about this little jigger when she is finished!

    Cheers Mark

    (Tasmania)

Having just put a deposit on t300 myself i will be following with interest .
