  1. Maybe they're thinking of something more like this?
  2. Oh, but everyone knows that the NES is well-researched and completely truthful... :ah_oh:
  3. And shave your legs (less drag (aviation term - see Ian, we're on topic))
  4. I'm sure you'd look just smashing in the little netball skirt
  5. So have you got a pair of 'bans now Maj? (green or not) Mine are mirrored (which means I need to clean them pretty much every time I wear them ) Just realised these posts are rather against Ian's recent plea to make a vague attempt to stay on topic
  6. Well, we have to look the part, don't we?
  7. I've got the Aviators if you need them
  8. I wouldn't say men are necessarily the safer pilots - there are unsafe pilots of both genders (plus some people may argue that young men may be more reckless and therefore less safe - just like Qwerty's note about females being under-represented in car crashes in the 17-25 age group...) Not sure females are necessarily the better instructors either. I reckon that's all personality based too. I'm female and I'm not patient enough to teach, I think (right now at least) that I'd be a terrible instructor. My FI is male and clearly has the right personality and patience to teach well (he's been extremely patient with my varied attempts at landing so far at least! ) Can we really compare male and female pilots? Since we're all pilots we all clearly have that something inside us that made us decide that the ground wasn't enough and we wanted to take to the sky and fly
  9. Momentarily heading back to the stickers... I've found a way of getting us all personalised stickers. I know of someone who prints large stickers/artwork for truck sides and such who charges by the metre. If we tile all the individual sticker artwork, he can print it and cut it all up with his machine. This sounds like the easiest and cheapest way to get individualised stickers if people want them. Need to wait for Slarti's help with artwork etc first though :) (hope you don't mind Slarti...I promise to not call your Cheetah orange and spotty anymore )
  10. My Dad and brother are into sailing..... the boat goes a grand total of...SEVEN knots!! :ah_oh:i_dunno They own 2 boats and I don't have a plane yet, something wrong here methinks
  11. I'm working on it guys
  12. Well this entire thread seems to be about everyone voting on one thing or another, why break the trend
  13. When it comes time to order them, we can make it so people can specify what they want. :) We can make up a list to send to the embroiderer with everyone's names (and if people want more than one). I, myself, need to decide between DarkSarcasm and Darky
  14. Right-o gang, I've been chatting to studentbiggles who has contacts in the biz (wooo) who's going to send me colours and stuff for caps. Apparantly it's very cheap and easy to have usernames added  (yay!)
  15. Perhaps some women have a stronger fear of the possibilities of death/injury associated with aviation (that whole in-built 'must stay alive to take care of my family' thing?) I'm just wondering if maybe guys (and some women ) think more along the lines of 'well I'm going to try my best not to die but if I do, hey, it was a fun way to go!'
  16. I think that one might be a challenge, none of them seem to be button-less. I think if people want that, they might just need to take some scissors to the top of their cap...or maybe take it somewhere and pay a professional someone to take scissors to the top of their cap...
  17. Opinions? 1. http://www.hotcotton.com.au/showProduct/Hats/Caps/HW-WS- CH18/%27Winning+Spirit%27+Heavy+Brushed+Cotton+with+Sandwhich+Peak+Cap (I have one of these with a different design and it's a very nice and comfy cap) - no colour choice chosen here yet. I rather like the lime green option as a completely off the wall colour other people aren't likely to have. Opinions? 2. picture below
  18. Ok, this is the plan. Get caps made with RecFlying logo on front, URL on rear. Then, if you want, you can take it to the local shops and get your username put on the side. Should only be a couple of dollars to get that done methinks. I'll look for the most garish colours I can find, since that seems to be what people want Trucker cap (netting) or normal cap? Currently 2 votes for normal, 1 vote for netting. I'm trying to make sure people will actually want to buy the cap, otherwise Ian probably won't be too pleased with me and I'll have to buy them all myself
  19. Don't ask for much do ya Qwerty? Take some scissors to the button and I'm sure it'll pop off. They don't advertise any with 'detachable buttons' however... Hadn't considered getting our names embroidered on the caps, could be tricky. Most places seem to want an identical order of say 100 caps at once. Be an awesome idea though, I'll look into it. Perhaps logo on front, URL on back, name on each side? We weren't going to have phrases on the caps were we? Wasn't the plan to just have the logo and URL? What does everyone want? Does everyone want the netting ones (trucker caps) or normal caps? Personally I prefer normal ones so that's what I was looking at but I'm open to suggestions. Tell me what you think gang (and not about the colour, I get it, everyone wants the most garish colour I can find...)
  20. Any chance you can find out how much they charge?
  21. How about this, when I find some suppliers that do them for a reasonable price, I'll post examples of the colours and you can all argue then over which colour you like
  22. ...the words 'FREE BOOZE' sprung to his mind, with a secret handshake to identify forumites...
  23. Right now I'm looking at prices for caps and embroidery. What does everyone feel about a bright royal blue hat? The other RecFlying merchandise Ian has in the shop has a bright blue background so it's keeping with the theme there... I'm thinking just having the Recflying logo with Recreational Flying underneath on the front and the URL on the back. I think it looks like it's going to end up being somewhere between $5-$10 a cap (although I haven't looked into it too much yet)
  24. aye aye Cap'n The stickers are probably going to have to wait for a bit until Slarti has time to help with the artwork and stuff, but I reckon I can have a stab at getting the caps going Perhaps I need to be added to the staff list as 'Official merchandise co-ordinator'
  25. I vote for blue (red doesn't suit me )
