I have been thinking about this. I reckon a stripped down A22 would weigh about 280kg and could safely fly at 700kg AUW. Allow 70kg for fuel, it could carry 350kg of explosives. It would not need instruments, seats etc other than an autopilot and a throttle servo. Range wold be well plus 1000 km. I would paint it in Russian civil colours with a blow-up blonde female doll in the pilot position. Is this how Ukraine has been hitting deep into Russia? An 80HP 912 with 2000 hours on it would cost US$5000 in Europe. You could build the whole thing for $50k, very cheap for that capability.

I love my Vixxen but even though it is a high wing you have to crawl under neath and lie on your side to do the fuel drain.

The club closed a few years ago. It was being redeveloped as a civic centre I think.

The needles move just a bit. Highest I have seen them was a long climb on a hot day, got about half way up the yellow band. Never seen them reach green. Really good cooling or dud gauges. Oil just lifts off the stop after 3 or 4 minutes from cold start, coolant doesn't move. Photo shows typical cruise. Been that way since new aeroplane.

Ballarat has been scary in recent years too. Too many students with poor English frightening the likes of me.

The attitude to risk is interesting. People fly Bass Strait in single engines every day. The chances of survival after ditching are close to zero. 

My new engine (80 hours) has never seen the green band on either the oil or coolant gauges. It worries me. Smart air, the Foxbat agent, say it is normal. I would mask off part of the radiators, but am not convinced that the problem is not just the gauges. I need to get serious about diagnosis.

We had the Tyabb air show ad in our club newsletter for three months.

47 hours dual and only 4 solo seems a bit strange if I am reading it correctly.

Bruce it is not clear what the problem is - if you can get pliers in there, then you can get a spanner in.  What are we missing?
