  1. Hi all

Some great movie titles have been coming out in this thread. Battle of Britian is one of my favourites. A couple of weekends ago there were some older movies on TV which I happened to just come across by chance. I never had seen these before, nor can I remember the titles but both movies were set during WW2 both had a bit of Mosquito action in them.

There is another movie I have, the Flying Leathernecks with John Wayne in it. Not a bad movie , unfortunately you see a Catalina get blown to bits, and near the end is pretty good, there are formations of Corsairs. And there was a couple of movies I watched a long time ago were Supercarrier and Supercarrier II with F-18's and F-14's. I think these are mid-80's movies but have not seen them for quite some time. Has anyone else seen those?

  2. .I'm moving to toowoomba in a fortnight so i'm pretty keen to visit all of these places when i pick up my cheetah.

Hope to see you all out and about in the near future

    Dave.

And welcome to the SE region and in particular Toowoomba hope to catch up with you in due course and certainly take some images of you enjoying the Cheetah around our region

    Regards

    Scott

  3. G'day Tomo

and thanks for the generous offer. But it is a bit of pain not having an LA next to the school which means it has to be trailered in hence my request for Gyro or Trike or even any 95.10 that can be easily trailered. I did mention to the school principal about puting the idea of a runway in next years school Budget as there is plenty of room behind the school to put a 600m grass strip. But I'm afraid my idea was met with little enthusiasm, I though it was a good idea!

But watch this space, after this event (and after a couple of years) I have been thinking about something pretty special that I know would most likely work.

    Cheers Scott

  4. G'day all seeking help with a couple of things,

I have been in full swing of organising a Spring Fair for the Charlton State School just 7 minutes west of Toowoomba QLD set for October 16 2010 and I am seeking expressions of interest from any folk who Fly or knows of anyone who may help in these areas-

1 - Gyro's in the Toowoomba region who might be able to place it on static display at the Spring fair to promote your aspect of aviation

2 - A Glider owner from Toowoomba who also maybe able to place their aircraft on static Display

3 - Any one in the Toowoomba region who is building an ultralight aircraft who maybe able to also bring it along to show off your handy work and promote this aspect of aviation

4 - Micro light along the lines of an XT 912 to static Display

As I am directly involved in the organising of the event I was going to make sure Aviation was involved. I am wanting to get some of he guys to promote their aspect of aviation, particularly to an audience that would more than likely have never been exposed to these aspects of aviation or indeed aviation in general!

I have the Queensland Vintage Aeroplane Group - Australian flying Museum guys coming with some stuff and a few museum items and to do a bit of promoting of the Amberely RAAF Museum as well and also the Spitfire restoration guys from Oakey are coming across with items of interest and for what its worth I am going to put a few Aviation photos on display as well so I reckon have a Gyro, Homebuilt Ultralight/LSA and Glider on display would be almost covering a number of bases

The P&C will be Raffling a 20 Minute flight in a Tiger Moth from our wonderful supporters Darling Downs Tiger Moths/Darling Downs Aero Club

Added to this there could be the possibiltity of a tiger Moth making an appearence a couple of times through the day and a Warbird verberating the air in the area too, who knows what the day may bring. But as I mentioned earlier I wanted to use the opportunity to expose aviation to an audience that has never had the opportunity to see the different aspects of aviation. Who knows, one of these young people might just be bitten with the aviation bug and harness a keen interest in aviation, the future of aviation needs young people getting interested today!

Also The usual stuff at a School fair will be there as well. The day is getting closer with a lot left to do. So again if anyone can help in the regard of a Gyro, Sport/Ultralight and Glider for static display I would love to hear from you

    Kindest Regards

    Scott

  7. Hi all

Its this time of year that my thoughts start to turn toward the Toowoomba David Hack Classic Vehicle and Aircraft Meet. ready to spread the word and am looking to seek expressions of interest from any aircraft operators who maybe in the position to come along. Details below. 1st of May 2011 has been confirmed the date of the event.

    Regards

    Scott

    2011 David Hack Classic Meet

    “Wings and Wheels of Yesteryear”

Celebrating 100 years of Motoring & Aviation on the Darling Downs

On behalf of Toowoomba North Rotary Inc. and Aerotec QLD I wish to formerly extend the invitation to join us for the 2011 David Hack Classic Meet, May 1st 2011 at Toowoomba (YTWB) Aerodrome.

The David Hack Classic is all about raising much needed funds for the leukemia Foundation and Blue Care Nurses plus other nominated Charities being the main beneficiaries from the donations raised from the event plus provide another excuse for aviators to come together for a social occasion.

The first record of powered flight happened on the Darling Downs in 1911, in 2011 we are celebrating the centenary of that first recorded flight along with the celebration of the advancement of vehicle transport that we take for granted today.

And as such we are extending the invitation for all aviators to join us on the 1st of May 2011 for our fly-in, particularly those who operate Vintage aircraft such as Tiger Moths, Austers, Chipmunks, other de Havilland types along with other types as Percival and anyone who are in the position to bring along any WW1 Replica types. And as with previous years we are also extending the invitation to the Warbird, veteran and Classic aircraft owners and operators. Also wish to seek expressions of interest from any who operate ultralights and sport aircraft that would come under the Classic or even vintage catagory as ultralighting and Homebuilt ultralight catagory aircraft have been around for some time and there would be aircraft that would come under that catagory.

We have been very privileged with previous events to have had the wonderful support from many of you good folk who brought along your aerial treasures. It has been a true privilege indeed and if you are in the position to join us for 2011 you would be more than welcome to attend and your attendance is never taken for granted.

But as mentioned as I am looking for expression of interest from the above mentioned Aircraft operators, I wish to express that all aviators are welcome to come as all who fly in to the event make a wonderful contribution to the success of this event each year.

  10. G'day Allegro

The scheme looks familiar if your small image is your aircraft. But having said that a lot of Allegros probably have similar schemes.

Your aircrafts rego would not be "4223" or "4205" would it? Its Just a hunch.
