  1. ScottW - v. nice photo of the 170!

G'day Philthy and thanks it is a nice 170

Watch this space for another 170. Currently offsiding (when time permits from the other work duties) an AME bringing a 170 back to life with a polished metal finish for a third party. Looking forward to seeing this project completed. That will mean two things, firstly the skin on my fingers will have a chance to recover after being dissolved from all the sanding and polishing. And secondly will see a lovely presented 170 back in the air.

Still have a fair way to go on the project and trying to schedule my other work around so I can spend more time on the project. Has been a great experience so far.:thumb_up:

  2. G'day Tomo

Mate the bottom line and the safest thing for me to say at this time is those wishing to go out into the aircraft static lines, now this is particularly for those wanting to take some pics, do require an ASIC. If you are a pilot flying in, the pilot in command does under the rules require an ASIC, but passengers do not if accompanied by the pilot in command. there has been a bit of confusion over this in Toowoomba with(Let us say) an incident or two occuring which added to this confusion..

But if you are a pilot in command who does not have an ASIC Card what this means is that a representative of the Council will be more than "WILLING":gaah:to escort you to and from your aircraft.exclamation.gif.7a55ce2d2271ca43a14cd3ca0997ad91.gifexclamation.gif.15cca54a67cbd47ca3b5897bbc7b8e75.gifexclamation.gif.7a55ce2d2271ca43a14cd3ca0997ad91.gif049_sad.gif.af5e5c0993af131d9c5bfe880fbbc2a0.gif049_sad.gif.cfa4f274d7bd070bd6a24b809e8799ba.gif As we are a full ASIC airfield unfortunately

What I am going to try and do this year is get a few more aircraft inside the Lines so people can have a closer look ath e aircraft. The RAAF Winjeel was crowd side last year and was a big hit. So looking to do more of the same this year.

The ARMY will have, as far as I am still aware with current info, have a Blackhawk and Kiowa present too so those guys will be taking people through and showing them the choppers.

    Regards

  4. G'day Dunlop

Yeah thanks for that I think you did mention that in an earlier thread. I should have read that a bit more closely:blush:. But the puzzle is coming together now. I was talking with "Barney" on Saturday for a while. Look forward to catching up with you at some point in the near future. I've got a few trips to Dalby coming up and try and make time to drop by and see if the Hanger is open.

    Regards

  5. G'day All

There was mention of this event in a previous thread so I thought I would pass on an update on the DHCM 2010 event here in Toowoomba.

things are getting a roll on now that it is only a few weeks away really.

The aviation theme of the event as many have probably already heard/read is "Classic Flight Training experience" and incorporating with this theme I have sent invitations to owners of aircraft who operate the Classic trainers T-6 (Harvards) and the Ozzy Wirraway, the second cousin to the early harvards, the "Gathering of the Harvards & Wirraways"

I have had tentaive confirmation so far for attendees,

    3 Wirraways

    6 Harvards

I say Tentatively due to Aircraft servicability and pilot availability. Much can change in aviation in a short span of time as many would be more than well aware, especially warbird aviation. But it is looking good so far.:thumb_up:

I can confirm that Temora Aviation Museum will be bringing their Wirraway to the event, joining other big names of the Warbird Aviation scene as,

    Aerotec QLD

    Warbird Aviation(QLD)

Mustang Flights & Sandora Aviation Maintenance

Along with the generous support of other private operators of these classic aircraft.

I will add to this update as time permits tonight

  6. G'day All

Was at Clifton today. Aircraft Numbers were down on usual attendance with the weather a major contributing factor. But it was actually better than had been predicted, Well until the scud showers started to come through in the afternoon. And plenty of flying was had with aircraft buzzing around most of the duration of the event.

    G'day Maj

The aircraft you make reference to is indeed a Fisher Classic. The gent who owned it passed on late last year. He was indeed a very proud owner of that aircraft.

I have attached a couple of images of the Aircraft......

    Regards

  7. Hi Scott, my photo was a stab in the dark - I get the impression you are more than a "happy snapper" and the bloke in the photo had obviously taken some trouble to secure his vantage point. Well done on securing airside access, it certainly does pay dividends.Hopefully we will catch up at some stage - Toowoomba if not before.

    Cheers Carl

    G'day Spin

mate I consider myself just a happy snapper. I just love what I do, I love aircraft and love taking images of guys flying their aircraft and consider myself very fortunate to be in the position to do it.

I will get down to Boonah one of these days too when you guys have an event on

Are you considering coming across for the Clifton Fly-in. Might catch up there I will be airside for that one too.

  8. Anyone we know?

G'day Spin and guys no that guy on the stand is not actually me, but I do know that photographer.

If any of you recall seeing a Blue Ford Fairlane with a flashing light on top airside that was me. I didn't get to let you guys know before the event that I was going airside because I was waiting confirmation of vehicle approvals from the Richmond Regional council to operate airside.

I have quite a number of images and I will post over time.

    Thanks again

    Regards

    Scott
