  1. [ATTACH]1805[/ATTACH] The Top ribs are Duckbill 28mm, tube 1280mm, rear duckbill 40mm =total 1348 mm [measured on the top camber] The bottom rib is Duckbill 28mm, tube 1228mm,rear duckbill 40mm,total = 1296mm. The bottom ribs actually sit in very well and are a great improvement on just the plug end type for giving a smooth surface. Checked the log entries for any mods and there are none mentioned [the previous owner was a fellow down Vic and he was meticulous in his log entries] Cheers Alan [have to go and work on the big boys [c47] now ,back later]
  2. Posting a picture in a thread is fine but I can't seem to find a way when doing a quick reply anyone help Cheers

    Rib Ends

[ATTACH][ATTACH]1803[/ATTACH] Front spar wing top [ATTACH]1804[/ATTACH][/ATTACH]Rear spar wing top. These are the top ribs with the two different type ends Cheers Alan
  4. The rear plastic ends are about twice as long as the front duck bills and taper to a very thin edge. The only ribs that had the plug ends were the 3 bottom ribs per wing and I assumed they go in the first 3 [from the wing attach end] held in place with the velcro [only 3 have the velcro per wing ] That's what came with the A/C Cheers
  5. I need all the help I can get. The wing skins are new, so the old adage get a bigger hammer fits the bill.I wasn't game to be so brutal and having the duck bill at the back as well it didn't seem possible to give it a hit with much success .The short bit of cord attached just forward of the rear t/e duck bill thru the hole does make a bit easier to pull .I did check that all the profiles were OK top and bottom first. You properly realize by now that this is the first time I have actually put one together [other then 707s' 747s' etc]. I hope to get my tail dragger endorsement in the near future and then up up and away. This little project was only to last 6mths until flying and that was 3yrs ago. Cheers
  6. Seemed like it at the time but as I have to trailer the aircraft home every time I use it, I'll check that more closely at the next outing [takes about 2hrs to put together and 1 hr to dismantle and put it back onto the trailer].Some of the ribs had a short length of cord attached, is this a normal practice as you can pull the ribs a little easier ? I really didn't want to use anything that might cut the Dacron if one slips to put the little beggers in place. Cheers
  7. Having a bit of a problem in putting in the top ribs. As per the manual only the last two upper and lower ribs are put in and the skin is tensioned and then shaking the wing tips and so on.Anyhow with this method there is no way the upper ribs will go all the way in [the tails protrude] as per the photo. It appears these ribs are a bit long !!! Any ideas? [tried also to slacken the webbing joiners to see if it would help but had the same result] Cheers Alan[ATTACH]1802[/ATTACH]
  8. The STB wing is new and appears to have all the reinforcing wing spar sleeving as per the T300 drawing/spec,but the other original wing has all but the wing tip ones installed. That's what I was referring to and should have said spar sleeving rather then inserts. Cheers Alan
  9. I've not yet put the wing skins on, but just had the open frame attached to the a/c and I was checking for excessive movement in all the points and it seems one wing is pretty good with the bay 2 cables but the other not so good[to be reasonably tight would have to shorten by 3/16th"].I had no idea what happens to these when under load [if a bit of slack was required or not]. It also appears one wing is new [spars + inserts] and the other original which also does not have the wing tip inserts installed [seems the factory made some with and others not] but I will put them in as per the drawings for the T300 Cheers Alan [forgot all the wing cables are non adjustable no turnbuckles.]
  10. Would like to know what is the allowable slack on the Bay 2 Negative and Positive cables [compression struts in place]when trying to concertina the wing. In other words how much play or movement is OK with respect to front and rear spars longitudinally[ when not attached to aircraft]. Thank you
  11. Thank you for that. I'll have to reposition the rear brace wire to the top spot and also make a cable for the tank.I've been going thru the instrument panel checking all connections and replacing where needed all day, so just read the return reply its' 4.PM down here. Now if I could only get the brakes to hold a bit better. I did some strip runs earlier in the week on tarmac as the grass was a wee bit high and it would have been more reassuring with good brakes.Thank you again Alan
  12. We do need our weekly fix ,waiting eagerly so I can tinker again.Oh if you have a pic of the T500 rectangular fuel tank setup as well I would like to compare it with what I have done. Cheers Alan
  13. Hi Tony, The reason I was not sure where these cables went, is that I have done a rebuild and I couldn't find the original pics I took prior to disassembly. So a side rear pic would be great. Cheers Alan
  14. Hi Tony mine is the TST 2 seater and it did come with the rear bracing cable but it only reached within 3" of the spot where the Aluminum A frame tube bolts at the crommolly frame but the manual didn't say exactly which attach point should be used. I've made a longer brace cable 1/8" which reaches to the base bolts/rear boom braces. This way it supports at a better angle. Hope this is correct Cheers Alan
  15. Where exactly does the Trailing Edge Brace Cable connect to as mine did not have a tang installed.Seems you can either attach to the bolt at the base of the A frame/rear boom brace or higher up where the Al A frame tube ends. Couldn't find any hi res pics to see. Also what spec Dia cables Cheers
  16. Thank you all I did managed to order these thru Aviaquip at a reasonable price but only as drilled.I seem to have a couple of odd type dome head bolts and one AN3 installed and I'm going to use the AN23 - 24s .Want a smooth surface under the Dacron. Cheers
  17. What I'm after is 8 each of the following AN23-46A ,AN24-38A and AN24-46A. Wicks nor Aircraft Spruce list these. For the TST Wing strut brackets etc. ANY ideas where to source these . Cheers
  18. I Highly recommend to anyone who owns or is interested in Thrusters or other types as a lot of articles are relevant across the board. Cheers
  19. A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful very aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company. One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here." Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!†says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!" Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!" Now, the old poodle sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says. "Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!" Moral of this story.... Don't mess with old farts...age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience. If you don't send this to five "old" friends right away there will be five fewer people laughing in the world.
  20. Beer contains female hormones Last month, National University of Lesotho scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women. To test the theory, 100 men drank 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects: 1) Argued over nothing. 2) Refused to apologize when obviously wrong. 3) Gained weight. 4) Talked excessively without making sense. 5) Became overly emotional. 6) Couldn't drive. 7) Failed to think rationally. 8)Had to sit down while urinating. No further testing was considered necessary.
  21. Pro Racing Regulations [Cars] L.1: FUEL BLADDER L.1.1: MATERIALS Bladders shall be constructed of nylon, or Dacron, woven fabric, impregnated and coated with a fuel resistant elastomer
  22. A rather important note needs to be asked where do all these up and coming LAMEs' get calibrated testing equipment eg.Torque wrench? It takes a 4 yr apprenticeship just to do the basic Aircraft trade cert.and then you begin to learn the finer points after that.
  23. The Heads and Barrels should come off every 150hrs and the needle roller bearings /piston pins/circlips replaced as this is a high wear/high temperature area. Also the breaker points /jet needle and needle jet replaced . Cheers
