  1. Sounds like a 582 up front? I wonder how much those tires would effect cruise speed. Cheers
  2. I made some recent inquiries to Jabiru and their stock from what I recall was too short.Wadair may put into production the approved end fittings plus the struts in the near future? That's where I left it. Cheers
  3. Planes don't get pregnant. You can fly your Planes any time of the month. Planes don't have parents. Planes don't whine unless something is really wrong. You can share your Plane with your friends. Planes don't care how many other Planes you've flown When flying, you and your Plane can arrive at the same time. Planes don't care if you look at other Planes Planes don't care if you buy Plane magazines. You'll never hear, "Surprise, you are going to own a new Plane " unless you go out to buy one yourself. If your Plane tire goes flat you can fix it. If your Plane is too loose you can tighten it. If your Plane is misaligned, you don't have to discuss politics with it. You don't have to be jealous of the guy who works on your Plane If you say bad things to your Plane, you don't have to apologize before you fly it again. You can fly your Plane as long as you want and it won't get sore. You can stop flying your Plane as soon as you want and it won't get frustrated. Your parents won't remain in touch with your old Plane after you dump it. Planes don't get headaches. Your Plane never wants a night out with the other Planes You don't have to take a shower before you fly your Plane If your Plane doesn't look good you can paint it or get better parts. When in mixed company, you can talk about what a great ride you had the last time you were on your Plane
  4. I wonder [i know I'm dreaming] if Tony has anymore of those lift struts left. The trouble with getting them from the USA is you need a container as they are so long. Looking like I might need to make some foils around the tubes. Cheers
  5. Where the heck do you get the areofoil lift struts from? I've tried a few places without luck. How much for the side flairs? Cheers
  6. The bloody spell checker failed!!!!!!! cause in no way was it my fault Cheers
  7. Looking at the pic of the tube ends you flattened they don't seem to be chamfered. The stress cracking can be minimized using a press rather then hammering as this work hardens the alloy tube and making sure you chamfer the inside and outside of the tube. Also would be wise to dye penetrant check these ends. Keep it coming Cheers
  8. Will the new composite fuselage a/c like the 787 BOUNCE or SHATTER when they crash? Boeing engineers are not sure. Cheers
  9. Hello Tony, I thought things were a bit quiet [hope everything now goes smoothly for the next 10yrs] Cheers Alan
  10. Any further developments/updates with the reduced wing angle of incidence project. Cheers
  11. Magnesium in nonhardening type alloys (5000 series) makes them especially immune to aqueous corrosion [great for boat building /fuel tanks etc], but when present in the grain boundaries as an anodic magnesium aluminum compound, it may promote stress-corrosion cracking and intergranular corrosion and as such are generally not used for high stress aircraft manufacturing. Does sound a bit odd "the secret is in the metal" Cheers
  12. As a ex-LAME I also think it would be a great great great idea [almost compulsory] to metal-prep/treat in some way as ultralights suggested. Happy building
  13. Looking at your pics they don't seem to have any metal-prep [alodine etc treatment] is this what is the norm? and you mentioned using counter sink rivets but did you dimple or just counter sink the rivet holes? Just following your progress with interest Cheers
  14. In the long and short run it would workout a lot cheaper getting your Tail dragger endorsement first as that covers the Tri gear as well but not the other way around. So go for the Thruster as it would also make a better pilot out of you. That's my two bobs worth. Cheers [i'm not biased as I still need to get my TD endorsement]
  15. It stands for Dual Carby Dual Ignition [two spark plugs per cylinder] and DCSI stands for Dual Carby Single Ignition [one spark plug per cylinder] Cheers
  16. I'm in to, as long as no tells my wife there is no shopping mall
  17. Which particular species have you got in mind? Cheers
  18. You are correct in that they are challenging the validity of the first approval on the grounds that a airfield is prohibited in the zoning laws. The solution is to prove that the field was indeed used mainly as an airfield prior to 28th Feb 1964 and if so it would maintain its' current usage rights as a airfield. Cheers
  19. The owner of the field also runs a parachuting business and his plane a Cessna 185 [i think]is very noisy. He put a DA in to operate 7 days a week and he put off the locals it appears.Whereas the rec planes can only fly on the weekends when Nowra Naval Airport is off line,so we are the meat in the sandwich. Cheers
  20. It was under water last month or the one before.Cheers
  21. Done all that already and still trying, they are a bunch of die hards/red necks who you will not be convinced no matter what. Cheers
  22. Further developments at Jaspers Brush. The Berry Alliance is contesting the date at which the swamp became a airfield with the Shoalhaven City Council as the zoning prohibits it.If it can be proved without doubt that is was used mainly as a airfield prior to 28th Feb 1964 then it can remain an airfield.Records are being searched to see if this was the case. Cheers
  23. Hi Sunny,I was more interested in the barrel type ends as that is what is on it.It appears these ends are just solder not a brass barrel,so was interested in knowing how people make them eg Is a mold used? Cheers
  24. I've got all the bulletins issue- 29 2003 onwards.I'll go thru them again. Cheers [boom wall is 1.6mm]
  25. Jaspers Brush NSW is under threat of closure! The Berry Alliance is circulating land owners that their property values will increase if we are booted of the swamp land which is our recreation site. The Shoalhaven City Council is getting nervous and may cave in to the Berry Alliance most of who are "Blow Ins" from the city. So please send a letter in support of South Coast Recreational Flying Club Inc.[membership of approx 70] to the Minster for Sport and Recreation Joanna Gash and to the Berry Town Crier and Nowra News etc. We need all the help we can muster Thank you
