  1. G'Day Daryl, Don't let anyone tell you ur old EDGE is past it, if it's been well looked aftr and in good Nick, A lot of parts are still Interchangeable with the Edge X and later models, from the Factory, you will be surprised at the similarities.dont give up... A bettsometer can be borrowed from HGFA a bond will be returned to you when sent back.....Used to test the fabric strenght in stipulated positions on ur Wing.... I still get plenty of use out of my MOYES Arrow II Wing......always hangered.. its brilliant,, and I have the Wing and Batton Configue Plans...An Instructor,(He also was with Airborne back in the early days) Sold it to me, and check flighted it after doing the batton Profiles per plans..Same as Edge Profile. I've been flying with it for 8 years... I run a 532 rotax. I Have a couple of mates that are using the ROBIN motor , belt reduction though. We Are in the Process of changing one to a 503 Rotax and "C" gear box,and 3 blade Ivo Prop..... it's going great guns now ... Same wing.. Just test the fabric and the cables and joints at regular intervals Daryl.. If u have an experienced pilot or a lame handy even better... Hope this helps a little... regards LANCE...
  2. Welcome biondi, sorry mate I'm another one that was'nt at church , just plastering walls all day, the painting awaits. Ah!! relaxing sundays , and I look out the window, and just can't believe the fantastic weather I'm missing,, A chance to comit Aviation missed, is a chance lost forever... Happy landings, regards Lance....
  3. Like you Fella's I've been using , green slime for years, my last set of tyres I replaced due to wear and age, and never had a puncture after using the slime. My replacement set were treated , immediatly as in my area the cat heads are as big and sharp, as Echidnas.!! No fibration, just spun them, and run down and back on the runway, Spot on.! Cut one of my old tubes open for curiosity, and found it evenly coated, a little thcker in the centre and remains of brocken thorn heads in the tyre casing. As you can tell , I would be without it were I am, and I see others using it more and more... Cheers lads..... Lance
  4. Andrew, G'day Mate... the trike base I use is the Airborne Edge X And it came from an I nstructor by name of Chris Brandon,, He in the early days of Airborne used to be involved in the buisness, then started a flying school at lochinvar Maitland..I bought the wings off of him,, the Moyes Wing is made by bill moyes and his sons and chris,,Its about 13 yrs old now , but well looked after and is still a favourite of mine...I help that helps you Andrew Mate..
  5. great to get some activity on our trike site for a change guys, its been so quiet. I have two wings that I use , one is the Edge X and the other an Arrow 11 Moyes, its performance is brilliant... One day I'll get around to putting on some pics,, when I work out how to shrink the m bytes of my shots to down load them that is... Welcome Mundoo triker, glad to hear from you.. Cheers Lance
  6. Hi Dave, Buzzard here. Mate , trying the standard undercariage first for you , but the one draw back that I can see, is that if , in the future you do decide to upgrade to tundra Kit, it want be as easy as just changing the tyres. Rear OK , but front will require a complete change of Forks and rim and guard, and brake, because of the this expence youd better make the decicions now Dave . OK mate CHEERS LANCE.....
  7. Well that is very unfortunate KEV ! I like to meet new fellow Aviators every chance I get, on my travels. Now KEV LIGHTNING RIDGE, is about 750km north west of Newcastle mate, and around 60kms short of the Queensland border. If you know were Dubbo is, keep going north another 4 hrs drive, ( Gilgandra, Gilarganbone,Coonamble,Walgett,Lightning Ridge). I have my hanger at the Airstrip, it"s one of about 15, its all very free and friendly, open airspace. We out number the GA machines 3 to 1. I have 4 trikes in my hanger alone, not counting the other Ultralights of various breeds in the other hangers, And we have the odd hanger vacant still. You can camp at the airstrip, or if you have a hanger you can live threr , as some do. Anyway Kev all the best on your hunt, but theres no beaches mate, the best is Lake Coocaran, only filled after a floods up north, sorry!! Regards Lance.......
  8. hEY KEV your probably one of the chaps , that I wave to when yous fly over my place at stockton, I've a house that faces Nobbies and the harbour entrance, opposite the park. I see trikes often when I'm there. Flying down the beaches to the harbour and circling, then back north and return, back past the signa wreckage, and west from there. I DIDN'T know about eagleton, how do you get there? NExt time I'm down , I drop in KEV . REGARDS LANCE...
  9. Well Munch I'm with you. A little comfort with the speed does go well.' I currently ride a Kwaka GPZ 900R ninga and although I'm getting older I still love it and get a huge kick out of the Power and great cornering prowess it has. But the older I get , this will probably fade.and Comfort will demand more consideration, ( one day, 0H MY BACK, ) well Munch heres to clear sky every weekend . ies LANCE.
  10. WELL DONE CHRIS !! AND WELCOME TO THE FORUM. YOU WON'T LOOK BACK NOW MATE. A PILOT JUST KEEPS ON LEARNING AND LEARNING, WITH A FEW UPS AND DOWNS ALONG THE WAY, HA!! HA!! NO PUNS INTENDED CHRIS. SO WE WILL BE INTERESTED IN YOUR PROGRESS, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. TALK LATER, REGARDS LANCE.
  11. I also owned and rode a comando, many moons ago it was my second road bike, after a honda cbr 750. The comando was all Black with Gold pin striping. 12. how are u again paul, I will be doing exactly that with my Icom A22 e , and a set of your AIR-MAGIC com set, when I recieve them that is ? I've been using a battery on it's own , via a fuse to my radio, for years now. I'm waiting to hear the good news from LEN any day now, very patiently yours, Lance McNaughton. ( [email protected] )
  13. G'Day Chris , I've read your posts in the recent few weeks with interest, you have farm near Bathurst,? Well my family have been Graziers and wheat farmers, as well. One reason I learnt to fly trikes, was because it would be handy around the property. Now as far as Thermalling goes, I'm no expert , by any means but, I have had a fair amount of experience with them over the years ( Oh ! how reflecting makes you feel old, somehow. ) I spent about 5 years flying Gliders, before moving on to Hang gliders, approx 10yrs, and thermalling as youd'e expect is a large part of Mastering each, out here , Inland pilots that is. Chris I find, and my co-horts, that flying on real hot days when the air is very thin and less boyant, that a ride on a thermal or two really helps to A: save feul and B: reach that cool air much faster. Just straight and level flight on these Booming days, as we get out here in Summer , you run the risk of inverting when passing thru the edge of one. So we've learnt to relax and use them, not all the time, but I like to practice it occasionally . The best way to avoid neg G's is not to fall out of them, easier said than done !! . And you Are welcome to drop in sometime to. Cheers Lance......
  14. Yeh crezzi he was , as you would expect, but like all champions he's been down that part of the track many times before, and it does'nt get any easier. Kevin ( who was named after my father by the way ) tells me he's nursing a couple of broken fingers at the moment. Just recently his mum was trying to get in touch, she does'nt get in contact very often, so we hope it's not very bad news, or something, exstended Family wise that is.... any how thanks for the interest Crezzi, I'll pass on the word next I'm talking to him. ....regards Lance
