  3. Well Thanks for all the Info guys, its food for thought. I am using an AirMagic Comms Set, with the V rabbit Antena. Wright ?
  4. Looks like my old faithful Icom A 22 has come to its End. But what to replace her with, this is the Question ??? Maybe another hand held Radio, like the Icom A 24 ? or Perhaps The Vertex 220 or even 330 ? or the in Panel Micro Air 760.... mmmm !!? What does everyone think ?
  5. I'm a resident of lightning Ridge and have made a couple of little Doco's for the Historical society, of the repeated flooding wev'e had in the past twelve months or so,, mainly video but a lot of aerial still shots aswel,, Pitty you didnt get a look 10km to the north west of town, were you would have found Lake Coocaran full since may 2010 and over flowing again, its about 12km long and around 4 1/2 kms wide, gr8 4 sunsetting shots. Cheers Lance
  6. Gr8 work there Darky, It is such a relief to finaly achieve that milestone isnt it ?? All the very best in your chosen specialty . You just dont want to be interned in an Oval office with a boss named Clinton, right ? Cheers Darky.

  9. Quite Some years back now, I was Thermaling about 6000 ft in a Glider ( ISB-28 ) North of Lightning Ridge, when to my surprise I was Joined off my starboard wing by a group of 3 Wedgetail Eagles, 2 females & a Big male, We Happily circled together for another 1000 ft , when the girls, board with me (thats happened before) broke off & left Me and the male behind, and I was working as hard as I could to stay with them too, climbing in the thermal, They were not impressed, but the male was still Eyeballing me from just above my wing tip, When Out came his Tallons, flared his wings and decended towards my right Aileron. He was Either not very happy with me or he just wanted to Bum a ride, but as their the part of the Glider thats made of Tight Fabric only I had to diswade him by giving the Joy stick a little short jab to the left and scare him away, this did the trick, cos after flapping about in surprise he climbed rapidly directly above me about 200ft Glaring back at me, I Relaxed a Little hopping he would be Joining his lady friends, when Blow me Down the Bugger pulled his wings in, and Dive Bombed me, free falling to with in a foot of my head before opening his wings again, Giving me a Hell of a scare and another departing Glare... I thought he was coming through the perspex canopy for sure ! After my heart rate had returned somewhere back to normal, I Marveled at his speed & effortless Skill, Bloody Show off ! He got me back Good ! Returned to the strip for an Underwear check ! Thank goodness they were only full of ore & renewed respect of his Magesty of the sky...

  15. Ok Darren, My apologies to you as-well, we mainly had gold on our minds at the time so this may explain our tunnel vision so to speak, and absent mindedness, and we had the families in tow also. 18. High Noise Hi Kev, I had similar problems with my set, then I changed to Air Magic set, and even went further by Isolating Com's from Electrics, hooking it up to Battery on its own, this gave me great clarity, and no static or interference on recep or trx. wired a 1 amp fuse between battery and radio, just for added safety. Trike pilot,, L/ridge. Regards Lance..
  19. great one kev..!! Ive seen you from time to time , when I'm down in stockton visiting my son, you fly right over his place, which is facing the Harbour, and nobbies horse shoe beach, across the road from the park area at stocko. After a lap of the light house, you normally head back up the beach to the North... I bet u didnt see us waving mate. Makes me want to Get back to Lightning Ridge, and dust my Trike off, and get up there,, unfortuneatly I cant bring it down every trip with me. Just returned home, after being down for the month Kev,, Must catch up with u on my next Visit Mate..?? Regards Lance. u make me green with envy. Bugger!!

  21. Kiora ! if thats the way to spell it,, Welcome. I have rellies in THE NORTH Island, ( the mainland ) Doug. Been and worked over there many times in the past, but never made it to the south..good to have you aboard, talk later. Lance.
  22. AND a big welcome to you Doug, from us rag and tube guys,, at Lightning Ridge , NSW,,, best of luck...
  23. G'day Andrew, mate to answer your question, sorry its a little late coming. The Trike Bases I use are the Airborne, X-C Buzzard 532 ,and the Edge X 582. Both are interchangeable with each others wings, Moyes Arrow II ,And Airbornes Edge series. I find there are small differences, such as one has trim and the other not, but over all perform simmerly. Just enjoy both. even gave the moyes a go on my mates 503 once, he found it was better than the wing he used, faster, but higher rpm. but at least he was keeping up with us for a change.. Moyes are based in Sydney still Andrew, Regards Lance....
  24. Thats great Chris, We all are getting older mate, but we can still remember the good times !! Gliding or towing our Hang gliders up, there was always Fun. " Big Stan" Single as you called him is based in Dubbo now,he still Gets up here, when he can. We have our own Hanger at the Ridge and 3-4 Trikes, and a gyro. Also assorted models of Ultralights , about 11 all told. My mate Wayne Holden just bought Dick Pykes Prop Manufacturing business, and he's set up shop in his hanger here, at the Ridge. Your always welcome to drop in, we fly as often as we can. I'll Be making another trip down to Newcastle next week, catch up with everyone, when back. Be Smooth, Regards Lance......
  25. well Chris its been a while. You may remember way back when you had a flight school at Lochinvar, outside Maitland, I was a novice hang glider pilot then and frequently traveled around on flying holidays, with Stan Hawkins who you new from Lightning Ridge, later he became my brother inlaw ! we called in on you every so often to chat about wings, and any bargains going. Also Peter and Roy council are FRiends of ours, then and until a couple of years ago lived in lightning ridge aswell. Its through them that I ended up with One of my Trikes , which came from you. And thats the long winded version Mate,, doo yoo remember us now!!! I moved to lightning Ridge from Newcastle, permanately around 1998. I hope I havent said anything out of turn Chris, and that u get a chance to call in again at the Ridge, and catch up with all the guys, THe Buzzard is still a great ride, going strong Mate... Regards Lance....
