  1. Will...............must jump in here. Ej soobs, the 22's are bullit proof, last yr for example one chap logged near on 2000 +hrs mustering, never missed a beat.

Other 22's ( and there is a heap of them )............just keep on going.

The 25's are prone to head gasket failures, but after "the fix".......no probs to date. The 25's are yet to get big hrs up, so let's wait and see there.

Timing belt prob...............with regular attention to the idler pulley bearing, there is no prob. Change it out every 300hrs, prob fixed.

That recent gyro incident was not engine related, it was a busted rudder cable that allowed the rudder to lock full sideways somehow, all attempts by pilot to sort it were in vain, and nothing but tiger country under him.

Soobs biggest neg, is WEIGHT..........they have a shocker of power to weight ratio. Nothing surpasses the rotax here, and quite frankly the rotax is without dought, the premier engine plant for aero use.

The now 6 cyl soobs, are being installed into many fast fixed wingers, feedback is all plus.

If rotax pump out an engine 150hp thereabouts, their phone will go into meltdown.

Side note.............heard recently jabs are getting heads and cranks via china next yr, maybe just goss.......let's see

BTW............xmas cheers to all here. Good health, good luck, good times........russ

  2. yet to see a EA81 that is STD 85hp..............more like 65. ( non turboed )

You bump them to near 100hp...............reliability goes out the window. They just don't like it that high.

At absolute max 80ish HP........they will run at 4000+ all day. Brumbies had better heads....bigger valves....better porting............

Polish the ports up, warm cam ( ground to produce torque/power at YOUR best desired need )

Beware fretting between the 2 crankcase halves, make sure the pins are reeeel good. Put on a GOOD carby, speak to a genuine exhaust guy for ultimate system ( breathing is a major point for the soob )

    That's about it.........................keep away from 100ish HP

  3. 3 pieces of info..................

1st..................checkout "Flysoob" good site dedicated to aviation soobs

2ndly...............stear clear of of a guy via Bundaberg ( PM me )

3rdly................keep desired HP to a max 85ish or less .....rotax 2.62 matches a EA81 just great, with 76" warp drive

  4. Iphone4 it is............done deal, got the shytes with this HTC ........reception a shocker.

16gb model was the chosen one. Almost got the 32gb one, hope i've made the right choice..........Oh well.........let's see

For sale...............one as new HTC desire, only used sundays going to church 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

  5. Ok.............what's the go with "anonymous ISP " ........i'm told it protects my "privacy"

my ISP number is concealed, hence those so inclined cannot trace me/steal identity, etc etc..........googled, and was given a list of providors offering this service. Hearing all the dooms day reports etc, i was concidering action now , rather than reaction after the event, if you get my drift..............buggered if i know.

  6. Owned an "android" ph for 6 mths now (htc desire), useing telstra, so coverage is pretty good..............however the reception of this ph is pathetic, worst i've ever had .

2ndly..........transferring downloaded itunes into it............pain in the proverbial.

About to toss it, and get an iphone4..........should i:confused::confused:

  7. Approaching aircraft from behind me.............i don't see.

left/right/ahead no probs........( we hope ). Toying with setting up a high powered LED, pulsating off/on ( 5 sec intervals )............easily done. Was now thinking colour of LED........can get red, white, glacier blue......all bright as. So anyone got experience with great standout colour, distance wise in the air.......( stands out like the proverbial )

Have conventional strobe, but in certain lights, they are pretty ordinary.

  8. yesterday was in a local company chasing glass, receptionist knows i am an aviator.......she mentions this incident, did i know the pilot etc etc........then tells me her husband attended to the site, he being innisfail copper. She then tells me that there were no injuries, and the plane was UNDAMAGED.............madam i says, it has to be damaged, coz it came down in forest...............no she says, my husband said it was undamaged, and he would know.........................i left with my glass......shaking me head.i_dunnoi_dunno

  9. cowboy takes his new bride to a swank hotel for their 1st night..........at the reception desk, the receptionist asks...............are you just married, we sure are says cowboy, receptionist..............would you like the bridle................nar says cowboy, i'll ride her bare back.025_blush.gif.9304aaf8465a2b6ab5171f41c5565775.gif025_blush.gif.8e2ecc192cc98853ac4370dddcd7cf74.gif

  10. "the RAaus would fall apart and we cannot forget some of the board do some fantastic work "

Folks............ASRA ( gyro's ) several yrs back had board issues, serious, when your board goes pearshaped ( dismissed or resigned ) you will not fall apart.............in your hour of crisis, good folks step up.

If...........your situation is that serious, you have no alternative but address the matter.

If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

    ( shutup russ )

  11. An airplane was about to crash; there were 5 passengers on board, but only 4 parachutes.

The first passenger said, "I am President Obama, the chosen one. The world needs me, I can't afford to die." So he took the first parachute and left the plane.

The second passenger, Julia Gillard, said, "I am the prime Minister of Australia and I am the smartest woman in Australian history, so Australia 's people don't want me to die." She took the second parachute and jumped out of the plane.

The third passenger, John Kerry, said, "I'm a Senator, and a decorated war hero from the Army of the United States of America ." So he grabbed the parachute next to him and jumped.

The fourth passenger, ex-President George W. Bush, said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life, and served my country the best I could. I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute."

The little girl said, "That's okay, Mr. President. There's a parachute left for you. Australia 's smartest woman took my schoolbag."

  12. Thanks dave.............sorry for being "Duh"..............useing my HTC and the like, out and about, reading mails, google, etc etc................am i open for them nasties that destroy our computers. ( me HTC being a mini pewtar )

Accessing my mails especially is my use, small amount of "web" at times.

My thinking is...........me HTC whenever i use it, is "linking" back via my home/office telstra network..........and all is well ??????????

My home/office pewtars are protected by "AVG", which i'm happy with...........hope so.

    russ

  13. Sorry........thought i'de bung it in here..............these "new" mobile phs we got...........Iphones etc etc.............as they are "computers" in their own right, should we be loading them with "protection" against viruses and the like..............just like we do with our laptops etc etc..................or, being "linked" via our laptops etc, are we safe with that link.............if you know what i mean:confused::confused:

  14.

A stockman from North Queensland attends a social function where Prime Minister Julia is speechifying. Clearly the stockman was not paying much attention, yackking with those closest and even quite far away.

Julia endeavoured to attract his interest with slower, single syllable words.

As she was doing that, she kept swatting at some flies that were

    buzzing around her head.

The stockman says, "Yer havin' some problem with them circle flies?"

Julia stopped talking and said, "Well, yes, if that's what they're called, but I've never heard of circle flies."

"Well ma'am," the stockman replies, "Circle flies hang around these parts a lot. They're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse."

"Oh," Julia replies and resumes rambling.

But, a moment later she stops and bluntly asks,

    "Are you calling me a horse's ****?"

"No, ma'am," the stockman replies, "I have too much respect for the citizens of this country to call their Prime Minister a horse's ****."

"Thank you for that respectful explanation," Julia responds and resumes rambling once more.

And the stockman adds slowly ...

"Hard to fool them flies, though."
