  1. With respect, If you are unable to calculate fuel burn ,In Lph Galls per Hour or lbs or kgs per hour, It may be a good time to have a look @ your XC endorsement and or the person(s),people that signed you off!!!! It is not a question of what you should know............ it is enshrined in law , and you shouldn't have to ask that question in this forum, If you need to step up and if ,your training, and or evaluation has been flawed ,speak up otherwise the uneducated will end up wealthy and the meek may survive!!088_censored.gif.2b71e8da9d295ba8f94b998d0f2420b4.gif088_censored.gif.03b4fab6f26a58d5cdf75ba85c450225.gif088_censored.gif.2b71e8da9d295ba8f94b998d0f2420b4.gif

Jumping in boots and all like this speaks volumes:censored:088_censored.gif.2b71e8da9d295ba8f94b998d0f2420b4.gif088_censored.gif.03b4fab6f26a58d5cdf75ba85c450225.gif

take a breath..........read my original post........line 3.............that's line three pal.

further...........yet to hear ANY "REC" or "GA", refer to their fuel burn in lbs or kg's. ( every single owners manual ive read ie.......rotax's, jab's, hirths, etc ......all speak in litres, as do aircraft manufacturers )

My point in part is, these units are "targeted" at recreational flyers who deal in litres/ galls.

Within this 296 one is able to utilize fuel timer etc etc, and calculating fuel weight to litres per hr, just seems puzzleing.

BTW............my X C plus a heap more are spot on, as are my people skills. ( drop me a PM, i'll give you a hand there ) Grrrrrrrrrrrrr:censored:

  2. I'm puzzled why are these units programmed to only accept "fuel" as kg's or lbs.......trying to preload this unit to my aircrafts weights/speeds/fuel burn etc etc is awkward.

Converting my Lph to kg is poss...........but why their format in weight.

To my knowledge all GA and rec flying is done in litres or gallons, and all these GPS's are targeted at this group.

    :confused::confused::confused:

  3. Hey Russ,I know you were trying to keep it light hearted ,107_score_010.gif.2fa64cd6c3a0f3d769ce8a3c21d3ff90.gif,Never appoligise unless you`ve done something wrong,I was trying to help keep the thread going..

you and gary theodore were flying a thruster type aero, me gyro, ( black, turboed EA81,one time ,ended rolling it into a ball at your deeral strip, me u beaut tail i designed would'nt play ball when i got airborne,.........Oh, memories ( some were bleedin nightmares 051_crying.gif.fe5d15edcc60afab3cc76b2638e7acf3.gif ) Yea about 20....30 yrs back. Then we went "NT"...just got back here.

  4. Oops............i've done it. Guys i was tongue in cheek kindof, lighthearted etc ( in part )

opologies to all...........( back under me rock )110_closed.gif.a392821970f4971bbab8b2a27aea78f5.gif

Frank.......have'nt eyeballed you in 30 sum yrs......cheers mate, no offence taken.

  5. For yrs i used a navman "fuel mizer", worked fine. This new build of mine, i opted for the yanky

"JPI"............FS450 with 2 transducers to suit the ej25 subaru engine (EFI)

Just arrived the other day, had a squiz at the manual..............the info this little guage can deliver is impressive...........looking forward to useing it.

Landed cost direct JPI.....$1100........and they are aero certified.

  6. Another day on the monster............i'm now thinkin, i'm winning........this thing has been controlling me.........deadset

Yea, left leg get's a workout when you get tied up in traffic...........Grrrrrrrrr

Kenworth 2005 yr..........around 650 horses. I'm going to fit a shotgun to the bullbar, aimed straight out front, and blow some of them tossers in cars, hell bent on getting me to run over em as they jump in me gap as i'm braking at lights etc etc........unreal.

    That's just for starters.

Give me an open road and i could like this ol girl...........i think

( stand by my earlier comment..........it's easier fly aeroplanes 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif )

  7. Untill recently, i considered learning piloting to solo was usually challenging to most folks.

Not anymore.................it's a walk in the park.

Month or 2 back friend mentioned he needed another road train driver for 3 mths work, that's me i blurt, i can drive "trucks" no probs. He scoffs at me, after some exchanging he agrees to train me up to this higher leval.

STRESS................you don't know stress untill you are trying to learn to control 650 horses under the bonnet, with 3 large trailers hanging on the back of you. ( B triples )

Keeping all this under control with 18 gears to go through, then 18 coming back down, braking / etc etc.

Clutch is used just the once, at take off, from thereafter it's right revs, right teckneques, right tickles of the throttle +++++ and all those 18 gears get used.

Several times you just get so frushtrated with with your inability to get all this right, you feel like throwing in the towell. Then slowly things start happining more consistantly, you are winning.

To cut this story short, pride begins to emerge from within, you are now enjoying this huge challenge.

As i said at the beginning..........piloting is a breeze compared to this challenge. 114_ban_me_please.gif.0d7635a5d304fa7bdaef6367a02d1a75.gif

  8. "Ivo" make several versions of "inflite adjustable" props. From low HP engines, up to around 200HP engines. Electrically controlled, and can be set to a constant speed setting if asked by pilot.

Know several guys useing them............great reports. Only prob, they are not cheap.

    hope this helps..............

  9. RAAus have nothing to do re gyros,.......... ASRA ( australian sport rotorcraft assn ) is the controlling body.

They, are investigating the cause for this matter, as they always do. ( there is sugestions that aircraft design may be a factor here ). All will be revealed after a full investigation is completed.

"Interum" notice has been issued to all gyro pilots, that "regulations" are being put in place to compel home builders to comply with "known facts" re design perameters.

"ASRA" is hell bent on stopping these avoidable incidences from reocuring, again and again.

"How" they stop joe blogs from building in his shed, to his own design etc etc, and trundle it out to a local strip, and .............."go flying"...........or try to fly, is beyond me at the minute.

Let's see how this all pans out.

  10. Next yr, a 2 day expo is planned at the Ingham strip, around sept 2011.

Some yrs back there was a similar expo held west of townsville..( Donnington ), went for some yrs, was well attended. Same guy is getting this event together, i hear it is planned to be a regular event.

Pass the word around, mark your diaries..............it will be good:score 010:

  11. Interesting info here............thanks.

Checking we are on the same page..............."whip" antenaes that i am refering to are not the "wire rod" type.

Couple of aero suppliers are promoting "whip antenaes" as a install anywhere.........it is actually about the same physical size as a pak of cigs. SWR is around 2.0

Fitting wire type, with that flexy black ground plane thingo attached underside just looks plain ugly on me build

    cheers........russ
