A lot of CTA is above tiger country And in icing conditions in winter.. Your track keeping and ETA's have to be on the ball also and you need a clearance to vary anything. Nev
I think you mean the opposite. A lot of CTA is not over tiger country and we are forced to go around through tiger country like Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, various parts of Gold Coast. Blue Mountains we can’t fly high closer to Sydney and can get caught it turbulence so I guess that is tiger country. Going South of Sydney and if Nowra is active we have to go around the long way.

We do have something like that, Victor 1 but I always get nervous for incoming jets since I fly under them with about 500ft seperation. Sometimes I orbit sometimes I assume the wake turbulence hasn't arrived depending where the plane is.

I want the Dingo now. Very tempted but not this week.

Also if it's not certified doesn't mean you can't fly over built up areas?

It's going to be interesting what recommendations ATSB comes up with. I used to have one radio and I could only listen to 1 frequency. Used to be difficult choosing which freq I should listen to inbound to Wedderburn from the west, I would stay on the step and listen to area since they tend to give traffic alerts but not always. Now I changed to the trig and can monitor another frequency. Still a difficult area to transit with inbound aircraft, gliders and local traffic.

I was with 3 other aircraft from Wedderburn coming from the Kiama to Mittagong then we were going to go to The Oaks and back to Wedderburn but I got the guys to go direct to Wedderburn, too rough for having fun. We landed at 12 so felt sort of lucky since we would have arrived about that time with 4 aircraft. We would have been minimum 3000 possible 4500.

It covers a large area . More than I thought it would.
How can area 30 have one qnh when the weather pattern of eastern Victoria is different to Melbourne and western Vic.
Because unless it's a nice High Pressure system, they do break it up but that gets fun since you have to find the places they are talking about for the boundries and times for the different QNH.

I like my Dynon as well. I'm very sure there is a yaw dampner there but for me, don't need the extra weight for the minimal use.

I'm curious as to what people think they'll achieve getting cta access? If you're looking at keeping your aircraft at a class d aerodrome, I'm going to suggest the cost of rpl and training will be trivial compared to airfield tie down and usage fees ( at least for ymmb ).
Second here's the sum total of most of my ga vfr class c transition for Melbourne experience. Request airways... xyz clearance unavailable remain octa... as I'm already routing via Bacchus or Lilydale.
Sometimes better for other control zones.
Just because you have the endorsement / privilege doesn't mean the understaffed and user pays mob at ASA will be keen to deal with you and your 24 reg bug smasher.
It isn't the usa where you're actually treated as a pilot regardless of what you fly.
If you're that keen and need it now, just do the training and meet the requirements.
In the Sydney region we are going to loose a lot of airspace due to the new Western Sydney Airport and also loosing Ballina. There may be a proposal for different airspace for Shellharbour as well. It's getting difficult and dangerous for the diversions we have to do to avoid the airspace.

That is so much fun, I've done it a few times, must be plenty of people practicing landings and go arounds. Haven't seen the tower yet. Wonder if the workers get sick of us.

A group of us went to Cessnock yesterday and it was magic. I thought the August westerlies had come early but a reprieve for this week.

Thanks for the info. Since I have a Dynon Skyview and already have a Microair transponder, I was tempted by the upgrade. After much thought I decided to stick with Dynon, after your post I feel better about my decision. I now have a spare transponder I'll sell if I can.

A controller gave a talk at our airfield and had a handout. I looked for it but it could be at the airfield. I'll look this weekend.

You doing it on a weekend? Tower is usually closed

Clutter is when you have a lot of planes close together and radio work is in need of a bit of polishing up. Quality of signal and procedures. A lot of concern has been the cost and who should bear it, It seems that is about as cheap as it's ever going to be. Nev
While I agree with that, not every field requires a radio like Wedderburn. I like the extra tool, I cannot believe how many aircraft that come towards me seen on the iPad and I still can't see them. Gets me prepared and I'm not just talking about in the vicinity of an airport.

They have been fiddling with this one for a long time. Clutter bother's me and you'll still need better radio work.. The current set up is not good enough. Nev
Sorrym trying to understand what you said. Can you elaborate please.

I decided I'm getting one built in. I have a skyecho, was at Parkes on the weekend. I thought I turned it off after landing. Anyway, a normal USB-C cable wouldn't charge it in flight, only the one supplied which I didn't have with me. For the extra expense, I don't want to be fiddling. It's going to be for the long term since I expect rule changes to be made in the Sydney Basin and eventually an ADSB requirement.

I now have ADSB out on my aircraft. Have just purchased a uavionix PING ADSB receiver to display ADSB traffic on OzRunways. Have not tried it yet but should give similar input to the Skyecho at a fraction of the price.
I think you'll find it's only ADSB-In

On the LEFT HAND SIDE MENU, there is an EVENTS Calendar - and ANYONE can ADD any forthcoming EVENT to it, that may be of interest to forum readers.
Maybe Ian needs to make the EVENTS part of the LHS menu, more prominent on the website? In flashing text, perhaps??
Doesn't look used. Very empty.

I've always had issues in Winter but I've worked out a way. Got rid of the Oddesy battery and put in a MOTO battery, cheaper as well. Hold the choke and the throttle so they don't slip in and it starts every time now.
