  1. Kev please get a grip - it's simply a fart joke! I recalled it as the article was about a Minion fart gun (looks like a neat gun too). I like free speech; you are absolutely free to tell jokes about me anytime you like no problem at all. If you feel this is such a big deal please enlighten me as per my questions in #3.
  2. Just curious specifically 1) Which groups do you believe cannot take a joke and why? 2) And are individuals within these groups permitted to joke about themselves?

  4. It’s officially called a "Fart Blaster". But to the security crew at Dublin Airport it may as well have been a loaded AR-15. Security labeled the toy a possible threat and confiscated it from a small boy. The toy, similar to the ones used by the “Minions” in the animated movie, “Despicable Me,” makes a fart sound when the trigger is pulled. Seem to have gotten real soft after embracing the homo marriage thing. Even imitating their mating calls is offensive.

  6. When landing you should finally end up with the stick fully back before the nosewheel touches i.e. the elevator runs out of lift so to speak. Try a few touch-and-go's without the nosewheel touching down at all. It's fun and not at all hard, just a trickle of power at the right moment + elevator control, then power up again to go. On this topic I'd like to learn how to do touch-and-go's on one of the rear wheels only like Bob Hoover - can anyone here teach me this trick?

  8. Hey don't knock mathematicians, it's a useful piloting skill for navigation in particular. I wonder how many folk fiddle with the whiz wheel or poke at the GPS without knowing much about how the numbers are arrived at.

  10. For a power-off hook turn 60 degree bank is ideal, 45 is minimum, 35 would be only if you have plenty of height to spare (or power still available).
  11. Should expect so seeing as member fees with magazine have gone up around 50%, no Natfly and the previous $2m reserve has apparently been spent. Terrific job almost breaking even next year. Reminds me of something - that's right: "The four years of surpluses I announce tonight are a powerful endorsement of the strength of our economy, resilience of our people, and success of our policies...."
  12. OK, 600 feet loss sounds like a kinda lazy turn.
  13. Should I go over or under the wires? If under how should I handle oncoming traffic? BTW you forgot to mention your bank angle in the hook turn, which aircraft and total height loss. Pretty sure you didn't mean just 100 feet (in a Jab it's more like 400). Also not so clear why you wanted to use a road instead, of you know, a runway?
  14. ^ Organic kale eater, hates GMO & thinks the moon landings were faked.
  15. Flaring too high - firstly get used to the view when the aircraft is sitting on the ground, this is what it looks like with the wheels in contact. When approaching touchdown be a little braver and resolve to go closer than you did previously before rounding out, you recall the view when the aircraft was on the ground and you aren't that close yet (I hope). Secondly it took me a while to learn the elevator is quite sensitive so small movements at this point. Thirdly ask your instructor if you can do a few low level flights along the runway just off the surface to get a feel of the handling in this zone & carefully play with the controls a little.
  16. Not so good. "One pilot died and another was injured after a Russian military helicopter crashed Sunday afternoon during an air show. The surviving pilot said an equipment error caused the Mi-28 helicopter to fall out of the sky and burst into flames after hitting the ground in the Ryazan region, Reuters reported. The helicopter was a part of Sunday’s International Army Games — an event during which the Kremlin shows off its military." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3i-O3y5BjI
  17. Seems the pilot knew how to take off but not how to land....
  18. Confirmed three Bin Laden family members are deceased. "Mohammed bin Laden died in a plane crash in Saudi Arabia in 1967. One of his sons, Salem, was killed when his ultralight aircraft flew into power lines in San Antonio, Texas, in 1988." The death by aircraft thing almost seems a theme with the Bin Ladens. All now await their judge and maker.
  19. Speaking of the B-17 and ww2 here is an interesting, if sad, story: "A town historian in rural New York was led upon a journey after the discovery of decades-old home movies stuffed in a box and hidden away in an old attic." (clip won't play in AU)
  20. Doesn't need to be earthed, just need to connect two of the lines to become instantly crispy. Fortunately they are a good distance apart carrying that voltage. Very fortunate to survive the fall too, hope he recovers fully.
  21. "Two airplanes flying near one of the nation's busiest airports each came within 100 feet of a drone on Friday, according to audio from each flight's radio calls."
  22. Hmm... Osama Bin Ladens step mother and sister, how about that.
