  1. Won't be reading it online. Just get it printed overseas and posted in, works economically for everyone else. No GST too.
  2. Thanks for the photos Rich, fabulous! Have a good friend from Zimbabwe, I'll show him...
  3. Joe the CAMit engine is solid lifter also like the earlier Jabs - requires occasional valve clearance adjustment but simpler, less problems and about 5hp more power which is nice. I understand a lot of the Jab engine issues started after adding hydraulic lifters to an engine that wasn't originally designed for them. Nikasil etc is nice but the cylinders & bores themselves don't appear to be a major weak point at the moment that I am aware. As Bex said ask Oscar, he is the guru here on CAMit. Hey maybe you should come over you and check them both out, parts of Queensland are very similar to Florida.

  5. Hey Joe, don't worry about Bex he just has a bit of a mid-life attitude problem at times & gets hot flushes when Jabiru is mentioned. No, I have some good friends just north of Orlando. I've never been to Disney world (or dismal world as my friends there call it) so you and FT will have have to photoshop the three of us togther.
  6. Welcome Joe, all the best with your build! Few years now since I've visited Florida, really enjoyed it there. Like avionics these engines are improving over time so it might be a good idea not to purchase until you are about ready to install.
  7. Welcome Joachim! When you get a chance some aerial photos from the Solomons would be lovely.... beautiful part of the world.
  8. Sounds like a visit to Pakistan. Don't go there with a goatee. Sorry OT, couldn't resist. On topic just need s few of you PPL / non-Raa types to try this one out for us and report back.
  9. Hmm, could you pour your own red and tell us about inverted spin recovery?
  10. Thanks Ira, acronyms are great.... provided you can remember what each letter stands for!
  11. Was trying to figure out about the seals. Same as a conventional Wankel is it? Anyways, not as funky as the Bexengine but not bad for a couple of amateurs....
  12. Howdy Rich - all the best with your Savannah flying! Love to see some aerial photos from Zimbabwe if you get the chance...
  13. "Forget P90X. B-52H is the full-body workout you need. Flying the legendary 250,000-pound Stratofortress is like wrangling an angry bull, as this video show. However, a feature kept secret for years made the job of landing them just a little easier." OK, not so secret but still interesting. Somehow these things don't come across as being so fuel efficient.
  14. "LiquidPiston, Inc., of Bloomfield, CT, recently signed an agreement with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, better known as DARPA, to use the hyper-efficient rotary engine technology for military purposes. The advanced combustion tech could be used in weaponized UAVs, robotic soldiers, and generators that produce 3kW of electric power—but fit in a backpack. Father-and-son team Nikolay and Alec Shkolnik say LiquidPiston can dramatically downsize combustion engines used in military scenarios. The Shkolniks say that their motor can be adapted to use only Jet Propellant 8 (JP-8), the fuel favored by the U.S. military, to produce power in a small, quiet, and efficient package. "A diesel generator that's the size of a desk and weighs 300 pounds becomes a 2-foot-square engine that generates the same power," Alec Shkolnik tells Popular Mechanics." 15. Well you certainly do. I've noticed fundamental Atheists argue from a position of ignorance, proud to be uniformed and apparently incurious enough to remain that way. Sad really.
  16. Survey confirms wide support. From the Age: "The ABC and SBS are among the things Australians would most readily cut to balance the budget, according to a survey by Choice magazine." But don't let me interrupt you guy's cozy little session of tickling and scratching each other.
  17. Another interesting SR-71 article on PopMech.
  18. ^ Freedom of choice doesn't sit well with some non-taxpayers. You like it - you pay for it. Simple.
  19. The most essential requirements from government are national protection plus law and order. Stuff like the ABC are utterly superfluous (not to mention unfairly competing with private tax paying companies, thus a distortion) and therefore should be optional. You can't complain if it is a free choice - those that chose to fund it do so. Just a reminder that very few Australians listen to or watch the ABC so it aught not be a financial burden on all.
  20. Sure they are biased. You and I and everyone else is also. I despise all media in about equal quantities and won't even shake the hand of a journalist ( a profession I consider to have gotten these days to be lower than prostitution or drug dealing). It's been many years since I spent a cent on them - except ABC. And that is the big difference. I am forced to fund their biased greeny anti-Australian drivel whether I like it or not. They don't even pretend to be balanced, all the major talking heads are hard left by their own admission. Even News Ltd employ some on both sides such as the Communist Adams etc, frankly don't care what freaks they have because it doesn't cost me. News Ltd is a profitable business and pays taxes so in that sense we all benefit. I don't see why those that like to listen to or watch this ABC & SBS stuff can't pay for it all. But yeah, Abbott is too gutless it seems. It should be an option on each tax return "Do you wish to fund the ABC, if so state $ amount". They can then operate on voluntary contributions, everyone happy.
  21. Ah... perhaps because we aren't forced to pay them? Subtle difference and all.
  22. Welcome to the forum Niels, all the best with your build plans and your flying!
  23. Yeah I was just being silly Rastus, will add a smiley next time.
  24. Geoff you are absolutely right of course that evil things have been done in the name of Christianity - the inquisition etc is awful. But the vital point here is what the principal reference of each of the faiths commands - the bible clearly commands Christians not to do this violence. I have many Hindu relatives and friends plus a few Buddhists; I haven't studied their religious texts in depths but far as I am aware they are not commanded to kills others. Some followers of these religions have but I don't think they are following their religion in doing so. I have studied the Koran (it allowed me to understand how they think and act) and as far as I am aware this is the only significant faith that commands its followers to to enslave or kill all non-Moslems. In fact the only means of being assured acceptance by allah is to kill or be killed in his 'holy war'. I hope you can see the fundamental difference between faiths here. Hello Nick in my opinion yes indeed each of us would do well to question the faith and beliefs we grew up with or inherited as you say - be it Christian, Hindu, Mormon, Buddhist, Atheist, Hindu, Catholic - whatever. And as above examining the primary source texts are the best place to start. I like science and engineering (particularly those I use for my occupation, math and specific aspects of physics) and from my investigations have found no disagreement with what the Bible teaches; you may have been taught at school there is massive discrepancies but a close study shows this is not the case - again don't just unthinkingly accept what your teachers or the media promotes. In fact many recent scientific findings have been underscoring what the Bible tells us from thousands of years ago. Sorry folks, the original topic is an interesting one - just answering some questions.
  25. This is the Moslem's Allah you are referring to - and I agree. It is awful that people commit violence for this reason. Again Jesus foretells this in John 16 "but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God; and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me" Please understand that I am not telling you what to think Kasper, quite the opposite - I am suggesting you should think and investigate these issues for yourself. Don't let others think for you or unthinkingly accept what they claim on matters so important! Groupthink and peer pressure is very strong in our society.
