  1. Raw onions are nice! Miracle berries are pretty cool too - showed the kids how to eat a lemon, a teaspoon of chilli power and a teaspoon of pepper. Not so great later when the effect diminishes though! Might be Tim Mathieson's secret.
  2. Could be some fun for pilots on April 1st: "Welcome to Virg-as folks! Hey I feel a little bit crazy today hahaha..... let's take a detour and see Uluru hahah...."
  3. Pretty happy if they would stick to that sort of self destruction and leave the rest of us alone. I suspect the camels and goats would agree also.
  4. Good idea, we need more basic jobs for immigrants. Not many goat-herder roles about in Australia and airport security have hired all they need. BTW should that not read "an air marshall"? Now Brandis will be able to track all pilots internet use & phone calls so getting there. Of course pilots with mental health issues may then chose not to go to a doctor....
  5. Might be interesting having a new party to the left of the Greens. Notice how the ones that yap loudest and longest about population control never top themselves?
  6. Yes, most likely you are right I believe. What he was using would not be apparent from a recording and they wont be finding evidence of this from the crash site that's for sure. Perhaps he was bashing the door with an extinguisher. Whatever it was I'm pretty sure many of the passengers would have seen & heard what was happening by that point.
  7. Pilot trying to smash the cockpit door open with an axe may have been a subtle clue.
  8. Looks like it although the authorities insist it wasn't terrorism. PC rubbish, pretty sure the passengers would be terrified as saw they were rapidly approaching ground.
  9. The slang term used in Australia is "dry as a nun's nipple". Not sure what tight means in this context.
  10. Article from March 2014: Could plane cockpits be too secure?
  11. Dunno if this 25 year old aircraft would have had fancy door interlocks / codepad etc fitted? Waiting to hear the cockpit recording and expecting to hear allahu akbar at the end... sudden jihad syndrome. Maybe they'll edit it.
  12. And where do I go to look at these hunter/gatherers? The natives nowadays go to hunt by walking to maccas and gather goodies at Centrelink, certainly not busting a boiler as you say. Chasing and knocking down prey might happen late at night after a skinful? Everybody gets to die, it's not the length or wealth but where you end up that determines if your life was successful or not - Hebrews 9v27, after death the judgement.
  13. Girandola's have been around for a very long time, so very real but not so common in the western pyro displays - for obvious risk reasons.
  14. Bored? Attach a chute to your snow machine and drive it off a cliff. Boredom: Solved.
  15. Don't read lengthy articles via screen, I wonder how much the cost will increase? RPL looking more attractive if the annual fees increase much more, apparently RAAus don't do competition.
  16. Yes instead of messing about with recycling they collect all the household waste and incinerate it at high temperature, using that heat to generate electricity.
  17. You are possessed? Sorry Bruce, couldn't resist . Yeah the incarceration costs in this country are outrageous, I can't see why low risk prisoners cant be sent to an 'assemble yourself' tent city out the back of Woomera. Good enough for the Army.
  18. Once the turbines cark it after a few years they are far too expensive to remove so the hulk remains rotting away forever. This sort of thing happens, these are very much smaller and not nearly as visible of course. The install contract should include provision for full removal at the end of useful life - but the turbine company would likely disappear at that point.
  19. This is kicking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWqexq4td28 The sound track, not so much.

  20. A lengthy article about this in The Daily Beast. NB: not endorsing or recommending this article or the site (it frequently has crappy and kooky articles) - but if you are interested in following opinions about this event it's worth the read.
  21. Like you and everyone else reading this I am a direct or indirect user of oil, gas and coal. All wonderful natural products! I don't personally have PV solar panels but also don't have a problem with them provided the purchaser pays for them and doesn't receive subsidies from other folks electric bills (typically poorer people who cant afford PV panels or renters). BTW wind turbines sometimes switch to solar mode, pretty funny and very 'Green' (which has become to mean by definition 'scam' and 'unintended consequences'):
  22. That's good news Meth, the taxpayers (and their children) in this country are spent out. About time these 'Green' projects learned they have to stand on their own feet. Once they can make it economically viable to do with private money all the best for them.
  23. Isn't that pommy slang?
  24. Do you view your income tax expenses claims as 'government subsidies'? If you do then to you I guess they are. Basically you have your own personal definition. In contrast dutchroll the following groups believe that the Fuel Tax Credit Scheme is NOT a subsidy: The Productivity Commission The Australian Government The Australian Treasury Greenpeace Australia - report agrees that a tax rebate is not a subsidy & all funds go into general revenue. No subsidy see? Only to you. But that's OK as I don't mind subsidizing you a little.
