  1. Looking at the pictures on ebay and being a thruster owner I have picked some glaring mister meaners that would need to be remedied before you could consider flying the thing. It would be my opinion and only my opinion that this aircraft is not airworthy and requires a complete going over bolt by bolt and hole by hole and insert by insert by someone very familiar with thrusters. Also this is a certified aircraft so no modification allowed. A lot of work to be done I think. In the pictures I didn't see a serial number, without it you can't register it. I don't say don't buy it but the price would need to reflect what you are buying.

    Here we go!!

Hi Pud, with all the bad luck you've had you must be due for some good luck. I got a new brolly prop so it does'nt fit mine so it's your's for the asking if you would like it. Don't take it just because it's free because someone else might like it but yours is first option.

Hi Pud, it won't look wanky it'll look cool. It should be chrome and yes I've got one.

    Here we go!!

Hi Pud, had a great fly this afternoon in the middle of tassie in dead calm conditions for a couple of hours. unbelievable. Your've got a lot to look forward too. just had another look at your photo at the start of this thread pud, she looks nice but would look better with a spinner do you think.

    Here we go!!

Hi Pud, sounds like someone has let you down, they need a kick in the behind, if you had been in the air I could be talking about you rather than to you. The bing carbie is used on a lot of different motors all needing different jetting. At one time I fitted an intake silencer on my 582 which required changes. Did both your carbies come from the same motor, if not they may have been jetted differently. After my accident I removed the intake silencer because I was concerned about the smaller jet sizes and the possibility of blockage. [paranoid maybe]. The carbies are so simple you can check every detail yourself. Buy the way have you got that motor on yet.

    Will it float?

Hi Floatplane, I wasn't the pilot so can't take the credit. Having had an engine stop in flight on me I think I'd constantly be thinking about it. Having said that I would island hop the other way. I also have a 701 so think I'd feel okay with a four stroke. It is my plan to put floats on it one day.

    Will it float?

I was told by someone in the know that when they crossed the strait with a thruster they filled the wings with foam slabs 100mm thick. Could do it with an xair too I suppose. There has been many many thruster crossings. When my thruster was brought to tassie it was flown direct from yarrum to bridport at 9000 feet.
  9. the ''other'' charges would get you with multiple items but will something in two parcels would work TC
  10. JG, cannot find the pics 2009 and 2010 but not 2011 got em:clap:
  11. Fly_ tornado, all of the charges are government fees and charges so not related to either competition or privatisation, in effect customs are tax collectors for their masters and not a profit making organisation.
  12. Thanks Glen, you saved me import duties without much fuss but the lesson here is you have to ask the question. The gst must be paid of course but the other fees alone added another 7.5% to the cost. I owe you one sometime. Regards Terry
  13. Hi Glen, could you give me a link to the aviation exception section on the customs website please. I need to know whether it covers parts for planes, tools used in aviation etc. I'm getting some conflicting info. I brought a dyna vibe prop balancer from the usa which is sitting with customs now. I could just pay it but it's worth the excercise as it might be useful for others. Thanks in advance Terry
  14. I Can't sleep and now I'm having fits of laughter, my wife this I've gone mad.
  15. I recently brought a new bose headset and their the best I've ever used. I shopped around and told them what I could get them for from the usa including postage and they all but matched it. Big cost reduction, so don't accept the price on the tag.
  16. Hi Mackay777, the weight of the 701 is 18'1 lbs. It's made of 7075-T6 aluminum
  17. the above is a link to youtube video of the new zenith 750 to replace the one damaged at sun & fun. It looks and sounds great and the glass panel looks nice too.

    CH601XL Kits

    sounds cool well done.
  19. Well done Bob, it's a credit to you and your off sider. She looks great.
  20. Yes Pud same as mine, the problem for me is I fly both regularly and always have done. But the point I'd make is I got my certificate in a HP aircraft and an TW endorsement in a thruster so I should have both automatically, so what's gone wrong. I don't see the point of it anyway.
  21. I'm confused, my certificate [i just checked] has no endorsement for either LP or HP so where does that leave me. I did my training and test in a tecnam p92 that I would class as HP. I remember some time ago filling in a form with a renewal which I stated HP That I think was a few years ago now.
  22. http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2011/04/26/225371_tasmania-news.html The Hobart Mercury states that the instructor is in a serious but stable condition. That I think is positive for the moment. Long recovery I think.

    Here we go!!

Hi Pud, just seen this thread for the first time, I feel sick, I can imagine how you feel having rebuilt mine as you know. I hope you recover quickly and the engine too. The thruster looks great you've done a great job. you'll be in the air soon. Terry
