  1. Hi Dave, Been thinking about going down the Morgan line, and after seeing your bird at Temora, I am really quite impressed. I'm as keen as mustard at the moment. Great build and great looking aircraft. FL
  2. G'day everyone, There is a near empty car (only the driver) going to Natfly from Wagga Wagga on the Saturday if anyone wants a lift. If not I'll see you all there. Flying Librarian :-)
  3. Thanks for that guys. Always ask the guys that know, not the experts!!
  4. G'day everyone, I got overtaken the other day by an RX-8 (mind you I was in truck!!) and all of a sudden wondered why do we not seem to use Mazda/Rotary/Wankel engines in RA. They seem to be powerful and I assume light enough. Would it be reliability or fuel consumption or some other reason??
  5. There is a Spitfie and Landcaster doco on 7Mate @ 11.00am Saturday. Is that 00.00 UTC?
  6. G'day Kaz, I'm pretty sure Wagga will be fine. It is wet but the airport is at Forest Hill, so out of the water. I'm not sure about the other places. FL
  7. Hence the lesson, Fly first, Navigate second, Communicate third. Shoot last :-)
  8. I reckon they would be great for feral animal control!!
  9. Currently a librarian, and a truck driver, but been a farmer, mechanic, welder, builder, servo attendant, bartender, forklift driver, storeman, sales rep, and other stuff. Would love to fly for a living though!!:-)
  10. I want one. Drive when the weather is lousy and fly when it's good:-)
  11. If your history with one engine isn't good, would two engines be twice as bad???
  12. That is the definition of madness
  13. And it was a great day to be up in the wild blue yonder. Particularly just after sunrise!!!
  14. Well done Robyn. Hope the are more "yahoo's" to come. Fellow librarian
  15. And the memory will stay with him for a ling time too. I certainly remember mine. Thanks to 'Jimoen' in New Zealand for my TIF.
  16. Thanks everyone for your responses. Great advice J170 had to keep reminding myself to do exactly that. Have a good Australia Day
  17. Was a great pub, when I was there last ( bout 10 years ago) for the races:-)
  18. What a feeling. Got to say I enjoyed the first area solo a whole lot more than first circuit solo. Where there were nerves and exileration with first solo, area was just a real pleasure (not that I mind having the instructor there!). Simply can't wait to go again, maybe even tomorrow. Fly safe, have fun!!
  19. G'day Ozzie, For an easy going autobiography with an aviation theme, try reading Tiny Office; Great Views. A simple bio on an Australian commercial pilot. Highlights the difficulties, adventures and frustrations of being a pilot in Australia. Written by Ross Isaacson. Not worth buying, but you can always borrow it from a library :-)
  20. I've been reading the forums for quite a while and figured it's time to register. Been trying to learn to fly since doing a TIF in Wanaka (NZ) in a piper. Done a couple of solos in the Wagga Wagga circuit in a Tecnam 2002. Interesting all the different views about the Lake Hume Crash. Hopefully I'll get to a fly in one day and meet some of you. Great views from up there!!!
