  12. Hi EK Have been slowly working on the 701 i am so time poor these days drives me nuts.I have spent too much time on the cowl ,changing my mind where to put the radiator and all the bits and pieces that go under the cowl but getting there. If you are going to build a plane you need 30 hours or more a week otherwise it will take to long and you will loose interest that is my thoughts anyway. Cheers Phil
  13. Hi Geoff Thanks for the pics.I have started making the brackets.Went for a quick fly in my mates sav on the weekend 2 minutes flying from the airport over the beach and 7 whales in the bay what a great sight. Cheers Phil
  14. Hi Geoff I have a mate that has a spare split radiator, going to pick it up tomorrow see if i can work it into the cowl, if it fits i will order one on ebay, I was talking to a fella that services the carbon cubs today he was saying that some have only done 200 hours and are falling apart, being so lightly built they cant handle the horse power.Bugger was going to buy one when i win tatts will have to stick to the 701. Cheers Phil ps any 701 builders reading this site how is your build going ?
  15. Hi Geoff What you up to on the 701?I have got the shape of my cowls right and the z channel in and my dash pulled apart but work is keeping me busy. Went for a couple of flights on the weekend. Did you hear about one of our club members had an engine out in his jab 430 in a remote area in capeyork , landed the plane safe it was a through bolt broke. This guy has spent big bucks on the motor water cooled heads the lot he must be pissed.Do you no any body that has used the split motor bike radiators for a 582 i want to try and keep the radiators inside the cowls if i can the raditor that i got off Tom is a bit hard to hide under the cowl. Cheers Phil
  16. Thanks guys for the info, great help will pass this onto the owner. Cheers Phil
  17. Savannah battery location Having trouble starting when battery voltage is slightly down ,have checked voltage drop when starting with fully charged battery losing 4.7 volts because of the leads we think. Battery is located at the rear of the plane. Has any body had the same issue?
  18. Hi Geoff Had a chat to to our l2 today about your engine running rough with both ignitions he said to check your earth could be the prob Cheers Phil

  20. I do a bit of flying in the sav witch does fly nose high. have not had a fly in a 701 (can not wait)but looking at youtube the 701 flies the same, time will tell. Cheers Phil
  21. Its a Stol plane the bigger the prop the better so higher the prop line the more ground clearance Cheers Phil
  22. Hi Derek Like the pics looks like you are doing a great job on the plane I like the way you have done the the cowl, did you fabricate the hole thing yourself? Cheers Phil
  23. Hi Geoff Some up update photos on the 701. Cheers Phil
  24. Hi Geoff After looking at the broken wing mounts on the sav.Your inspection holes are a good idea.I striped the paint of the engine mount and welded another top plate, one hole did not line up. I mounted the engine last night but it did not want to mount flush up against the aluminum mounts the rubber engine mounts are stoping it going all the way up, do you have spacers in between Cheers Phil
