  9. Hi Geoff just done another measurement my nose leg is spot on as the plans 135mm from top of leg to centre of bungee posts and 160 from the bottom plate dont no whats going on, very frustrated cheers Phil
  10. Hi Geoff the original hole what I had was whats on the plan which is 160 mm from bottom plate and the bungee is part no 1080 when you sqeeze the bungee together and measure inside you should get 12 inches which i have so I have put two new channel doublers on out of heavier metal and going to drill a hole between the bottom 4 rivets and hope it works. I spoke to Alan from Zenith Aus long time ago he had no answers because all my measurements are wright he said get a new bungee made up, its driving me mad will take some more photos tomorrow
  11. Hi Geoff my tyres are 8.00 x 6, my top bearing of the nose wheel is bolted up underneath, I need to weld a stop ring on my nose leg which I'll do shortly. Let me know if you find rubber boots that will fit, I might put them on my plane. Will drill a hole in the channel for the bungy cord, an inch lower than the one that was already there, hopefully that will put enough tension on the bungy cord. Cheers Phil.
  12. Hi Geoff thought I would take the 701 out of the shed for a airing so I can clean the shed, sick of triping over everything.I finished the bottom bearing I hope. What have you done for a seal around the steering push rods? Mine is an aluminium slide its very noisey mates Savannah is rubber i think .If you need any up dates from my latest plans I can scan and email them to you cheers Phil

  14. Hi Geoff I have the latest and the early plans with the fuel tank on your lap will tray to make a copy fo the CD tonight, did you have alook at the Photo of the rear of the fus what do think?
  15. You have got some work ahead of you, picks are handy for me to look at, if I could copy the cd I will send you one theres a lot of info on it. I should have orderd a set of plans when I purchased the plane, it had the very early plans but there has been alot of upgrades since then.Going to order new cabels this week, do you get your gear from aircraft spruce or Zenith? Cheers Phil
  16. Hi Geoff have you the latest planes and cd from Zenith? On the cd the progresive photos of the fella building his 701 it shows how he has gone all around the L angles with a crimping tool and put tension in the rear fus good or bad idea do you think?
  17. Drifter sounds good but would like a inclosed ultralight weather is a bit chilly around here and have a son shifting back to Adelaide then next shift to Canada next year so would like to catch up with him as much as I can .I have always had a soft spot for the n3pup a bit slow, still beats driving six hours, cheap to buy and run what do think of them?
  18. Hi Geoff thanks for the info, Would you no of any early LSA mod flying jabs with the 1600 motor for sale I have 2200 motor would like to have something that I can fly now 701 is along way off flying Cheers Phil
  19. Hi Geoff the landing gear seams to be a big prob in the sport planes always hearing or reading about under carriage collapsing on all models of planes. I was looking at a Sportstar at a workshop near home getting under carriage rebuilt, its used as a trainer. Your mod to the 701 sounds a good idea .The rear of the fus measures shorter vertically on the right hand side, the rudder seams to be alright. Had a look at all the cables and the thimble is hard up against the swag on all of them and the cables are gal. Did you buy your stainless cable local or did you import ? Wanted to replace cables anyway. The paint job on my plane is not the best was thinking of a respray and change colours, would you sand or strip? Will be a big job either way. Cheers Phil
  20. Hi Geoff how is your 701 going? I have been too busy to touch mine, might get a chance today. Took some photos of the rear fuselarge which is 3 to4 mil lower on the right hand side which made the rudder lean to the right, have put in a shim which has helped, what do you think ? Also a pic of the crimping on a cable your opinion would be appreciated.
  21. Hi Geoff Tyro still has the 503 in there but Paul Has trouble starting it . I will send some more picks of some of the issues i have with the 701 when get the chance CHEERS pHIL
  22. Hi Geoff thanks for the photos great help. I have a lot more probs to sort out alomg the way have not even looked at the wings since I bought the plane . went out for a quick fly in the club jab tonight . Got the Wife up for the first time. Only took 4 years took a photo of the Tyro cheers Phil
  23. Hi Geoff good mate ownes the Tyro has not been doing mutch with of late has lost conferdents in engine he is looking to repower her.I have to move the Tyro every time I take the club Jab for a run. Will have a look at zenith web site for VGs . I have done the same as you on the nose leg but cant get tension on my bungie but all the measurements are the same as the plans mite have to move the bungie pin down Cheers Phil
  24. Hi Geoff , I live and fly from Portland. You have some work ahead of you. Did you make the vgs youself? I have seen some home made ones that work alright, I fly a lot in a mates Savannah which has plastic vgs. I have spent a lot of time upgrading my front end, still not finished. Working on the oil canning at the moment, next week hope to start fitting the engine.
  25. Hi Geoff, I'm not going to get the thrust from the jab motor that you need for stol flying so I'm thinking that I will not get the benefit from putting the slats on. My plane came with a very heavy EA81 so I pulled it out. Wanted to put a Rotax 582 in but not much change from 10k so got hold of a jab motor with 2 hours on it veary cheap. Wanted to be as light as I can. Do you know of the histroy of your plane? I was talking to the original owner of my 701 and he said he went to gippsland for a ride in a 701 and the pilot clipped a wire coming in to land, scared the shit out of him! Cheers.
