  2. Hi All. Thank you for your virtual and emotional support around the legal battle we are currently involved in to save our airfield. To be honest, the last few weeks the action group's intentions and character have really been revealed to the public for all to see. They are still using scare tactics talking about emotional issues that are so exaggerated that most ignorant people will feel a sense of 'fear' when they hear the propaganda. In a sense we have been able to open a limited virtual dialogue which is a small step forward. What has become clear is that there is a very small group of vocal supporters and as far as I can gather it can't be more than 15 at most. We will keep you updated when we have any facts to share but until then may I ask you for some more help please. We are trying to get more exposure in the local newspaper "South Coast Register" and there have been 2 stories in the last few weeks of which 1 has received 51 comments in total at the moment. (You can view them here http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/1280627/local-airfield-a-valuable-asset/ ) You can like our facebook page to give us emotional support. (If you don't have a facebook account you don't need to create one, just leave a comment here) https://www.facebook.com/jaspersbrushairfield There is also a new story on the South Coast Register website that needs some likes and comments if you are so inclined. http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/1313738/costly-fight-on-behalf-of-few Please keep ALL comments relevant and proper as the action group has already tried to say that the supporters are swearing etc but I am glad to say I have not seen ANY such comments to date. If you need any more detail please contact motzartmerv and I am sure he will be happy to share. Once again, THANKS!!!
  3. Local Resident gives his opinion on the South Coast Register Newspaper. PLEASE LIKE this story if you agree. http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/1303769/airfield-noise-from-outsiders/
  4. "That other group" have just made 2 new postings. Here is a photo just in case they change their minds again. Their words: "Jaspers Brush Airport Action Group is concerned about expansion of the airfield for a number of reasons including, safety, noise, and real estate values. " Looks like safety & noise is just mentioned to try and make them look legitimate as it is already legally fine.
  5. Newspaper article about the JBAAG / BAAG threatening Jaspers Brush airfield. (I only noticed it now) PLEASE GO AND LIKE THAT STORY and give comments on how we were treated at that other page and help us to get this story to get more relevance in the newspaper in the weeks to come. The "South Coast Register" is a Fairfax newspaper. http://www.southcoastregister.com.au/story/1280627/local-airfield-a-valuable-asset
  6. Freight trains: There are several every week from 00:00 - 4:00 am . Trust me. I live a few km away from the railway line and it makes a big noise and I sometimes wake up from it. (Yes, I like to sleep with an open window) It would be great to see the noise complaints against that :)
  7. Thank you for your support so far. We know that the facebook page is no legal document but what it does show is that there is truly support for the airfield and when I count only the LOCAL people that have liked the page it is already far ahead of the action group. We already have 187 likes and they currently only have 22 but the truly beneficial result was a black on white reflection of their deceptive intentions by trying to delete honest and fair questions and comments on their page. By supporting our page and copying your comments to council when they are deleted on their page helps a lot. Please make a screenshot of your post on their page as they may start to delete posts again. Once again, thank you for your support.
  8. Please see the note of BoxFat and send an email to council if your posts were deleted
  9. Hi BoxFat, Please post this comment on the FB support page too. This is golden !
  10. Thank you ALL for your help. 50 of you have already liked our facebook page. Thanks.
  11. NO! In each of the motions a VERY clear majority was reached in favour of the motion. Those with proxies that wanted to overturn the result could then have done so but seeing that the vote had the result required by the holder of the proxy there was no need to count them. The motions were carried. THAT IS DEMOCRACY. First across the line!
  12. Hi All, https://www.facebook.com/jaspersbrushairfield As you are aware Motzartmerv has his hands full at the moment. Well, the action group against his flying club have started a facebook page to gain support but are deleting all comments that are in support of the airfield. There must have been 100+ comments in support of the airfield yesterday and they are all gone. Here is a facebook page where you CAN SUPPORT the club / airfield. Please like the page and comment on how your local airfield has been an asset to you, your family and community. https://www.facebook.com/jaspersbrushairfield Here is a summary of Motz' previous post
  13. Hi All, There is a new Facebook page for SUPPORT OF JASPERS BRUSH. Please comment and LIKE this page. This way the comments won't be deleted. https://www.facebook.com/jaspersbrushairfield
  14. There were 168 members present. Another motion that was passed not mentioned above was to accept the explanation for the "Junior Members" and that the "legal matter" have been communicated clearly and that it has been addressed accordingly and that we don't have to continue asking about it. I feel the meeting ended with an attitude of lets try and work together and that some of the previous posts here doesn't really reflect the true 'feeling' that was present at the meeting at the end. I suppose it is just the nature of communicating in writing compared to have been there.

  16. Nobody landed on the moon in my lifetime :(
  17. Hope you enjoy it CD. I have been viewing some of the articles in different decades and it feels like sometimes the same topics are discussed over and over just with a new twist :) Makes for a very interesting read in those dead time moment :)
  18. I came across this the last few days. Hopefully this will make the WOI 13 airshow / event more interesting and relevant to the overall aviation industry. I have also heard rumours that Matt Hall will be presenting an aerobatic routine. "Aviatex will provide the trade component of Wings Over Illawarra 2013 and will offer a fantastic opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services to a wide audience. The Expo and air show are hosted at the picturesque Illawarra Regional Airport, approximately 20 kilometres south of Wollongong, NSW, and will provide a magnificent opportunity for Aviation businesses in Australia to showcase and network withing this dynamic industry" What are your thoughts about the WOI or Aviatex?
  19. I was browsing Google Books and found that they have (with permission) published each of the FLYING and POPULAR AVIATION magazines from March 1928 to December 2008. You can read each issue and it is really interesting to see the comments about "Modern aircraft" when you read the 1930's etc. To view the oldest issues first go here : http://books.google.com.au/books/serial/ISSN:00154806?rview=1&lr=&sa=N&start=900 To view the 2008 issues go here http://books.google.com.au/books/serial/ISSN:00154806?rview=1&lr=&sa=N&start=0 Enjoy !
  20. I saw the original video a while ago but the commentary included on this is very good.
  21. Welcome Bluedog, You will have a lot of fun this year! I did my TIF on 18 October 2012 and got my Pilot Certificate on 22 Dec. The best 2 months I have had in a long long long time. :) The best is when you can watch a plane fly overhead and not thing 'one day' but "maybe this afternoon?" Enjoy!
  22. Thank you very much Dieselten. Good to hear all is well. Do you know the pilots?
  23. Hi Motz, yip. That is the Short Field Approach speed with 1500RPM. The focus over here is on the RPM not really the speed as I am just trying to find out what people are doing with the RPM levels.
  24. Hi All, Thank you for the information shared here. I am only asking to get a variety of techniques as we are all on a constant flight of education. No where did I state that I try and land at 55kts on a normal approach. The POH states that for a short landing. My current technique is to slow down before base and then maintain 70kts down to final where I maintain 65 kts. Thank you all for the contributions. Much appreciated.
  25. Hi, I have trained on a J170. I would like to find out what are the different RPM settings used by members when they come in to land. When you throttle back at base, what is your 'procedure' and what are your RPM settings? I understand that many go to idle (around 1000 - 1200 after carby heat on) and in a short field landing we need to maintain 55kts with around 1500 RPM. Why not just approach a normal landing with 1500 RPM at 65 kts? For this discussion, lets assume it is a normal approach with no surprises.
