  2. Thanks Mate I never thought that the oil filter could be a possibility, I'll be doing an oil & filter service soon so see how that goes. Cheers Andrew

  6. Hi Folks, Every now and then when I start my engine, the Oil Pressure reading on FlyDat reads zero (or very) low for a split second but long enough for the FlyDat system to flag it with a red status light. I have no issues with pressure indication say approx 1-2 secs after the engine fires and during total flight duration - it's only the first second or two after it fires. My engine is 18 months old fitted with original oil pressure sensor and yes I gurgle the tank prior to engine start and oil level is half way up the dipstick & changed regularly. Has anyone ever had this issue before? i'm thinking that I have a dodgy pressure sensor. Thanks in advance, Andrew
  7. Yes I would have done the same, Lockwood can jam it!

  9. Can you give me Lockwood's part number of those probes please.
  10. Lockwood just got back to me, they sell them for $195 USD
  11. Thanks Downunder & just placed my order :)
  12. Hi, I have a faulty EGT Probe on my Rotax 912ULS engine which needs replacing. It is used with FLYdat system. Replacement of original is $290 (paying Australian criminal prices), does anyone know of a cheaper alternative/option? Thanks in advance
  13. Hi Folks, I have some fantastic news, the landing fees at Gnowangerup Airfield are now $10 and not $60. The Gnowangerup Shire sent me an email last week (below FYI), informing me they have researched & concluded their landing fees were too high and have posted me a cheque for $50 to refund the difference (making the landing fee $10). I am impressed this council went to the effort promptly and showed the willingness to do the right thing by the aviation community. Please pass this news amongst the West Coast Sports Aviators. The Landing fees at Gnowangerup are now $10 for light aircraft. Regards, Hi Andrew We are currently in the process of reviewing our fees and charges and it has come to our attention that the Shire of Gnowangerup Landing Fees for the year 13/14 were high. We have been notified that other shires/councils or landing strips charge an average of $10 and so we will be posting you a cheque in the mail for $50 to reimburse you for the difference. I am requesting your postal address. If you can please contact me with them details as soon as practical that would be appreciated. Kind Regards Shenai Posa | Customer Services Officer 28 Yougenup Rd, Gnowangerup WA 6335 | Shire of Gnowangerup
  14. Ouch! Will not be landing there then
  15. Thanks Cosmick, this is awesome and will become very handy indeed!
  16. Thanks Poteroo! I just checked out their website & looks like an awesome place. I can't wait to the day of making contact and flying in. Cheers Andrew
  17. A Big THANKYOU to everyone for your comments and advice here! it's really nice to know these alternatives now - your local knowledge really does help as many of these places are not listed in country aerodrome guide nor ERSA. Cheers and tailwinds to you all! Andrew
  18. Anyone who would like to land a light aircraft at YGNW (Gnowangerup), think again. It will cost you $60 for the pleasure to land at an airstrip in the middle of no where with no facilities. Although no fees are published in ERSA nor the WA Country Airstrip guide, I was expecting something in the order of $10-20 to be reasonable in comparison to similar places across the country. I landed my gyro (MTOW 550kgs) there few months ago and was greeted by a friendly council shire operator who sent me the bill of $60. I think this is a bit rude & seems they don't want anyone to land there so I won't be, beware fellow aviators.
  19. G'day all, Is there a substitute oil for "Aeroshell Oil Sport Plus 4" that meets the specification for use in a Rotax 912 ULS engine and an oil I can easily get from a motorbike or car shop? I'm finding it very difficult and expensive to source this oil in Perth WA, if there are any substitutes out there that meet the Rotax spec I'd be grateful to hear from you. Thanks Andrew
  20. Western Airmotive are very expensive, they want $21.18 per litre - ouch!
  21. Thanks Scott & much appreciated :)
  22. Hi Folks, Could someone please advise me where can I buy Aeroshell Oil Sport Plus 4 for my Rotax 912S engine? I live in Perth Northern CBD area. Alternatively is there an online store that someone can recommend? Thanks in advance :) Andrew
