  1. I think I was the one living under the rock , at the time I didn't really feel like talking about it .I was on my way to the last wide bay air show and near Willcainia NSW one of the exhaust pipes cracked off and fell against the oil pressure sender wire , shorted it out .

So I heard a rattle and no oil pressure ,

750 hrs on the 3300 I thought a thru bolt had gone , 7500ft an old station air strip

below I glided down to land , got to slow turning base to final 30ft agl , kept banking to left , couldn't lift wing , it all happened that fast and bang the tree .

Broken sturnum , cut arm , 5days in Broken hill hospital . Anyway , all history now .

Took a while to get over it though .086_gaah.gif.afc514336d60d84c9b8d73d18c3ca02d.gif

That takes a real man to admit your mistake that could of happened to any of us. Impressing in every way and I very glad you are back up here with you bird.

? But then, plans are dirt cheap, someone went to alot of work to ensure you could build the plane, it was safe and it flew so it worth the $500 IMHO. Then some... Just saying

Agreed but why would the person buy something he already has

What Im saying is, there are alot of plans you can download on the net. I have HEAPS lol.. I don't have ether the skill or the time to build most of them but if I was to build a plans build aircraft I would call the designer and buy them leggit. I have Cri Cri Plans... would love to build one but Im 6.4 so doubt I ever will but if i were to, I would call Michael Colomban and order them

Keep in mind... The plans are the cheapest part of your build but the backbone. So why not get them from the licences distributor, and then have the support where available. Seems so strait forward to me.

  3. Lets just say that Person B's name is Ben Dover, he can use the plans and say that it is his own design even though it may very much look like another design. He can name "his" design what ever he decides like "Dover Rover' or what ever takes his fancy. It wouldn't be the first time that this has been done. It may be a bit naughty, but it does happen.OR he could just build it and register it as a plans homebuilt with the correct name and make up a serial number. But what would be the fun in that.

Ben Dover ? the porn star ?? 006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

  4. Interesting Hypothetically ........ I dont know the answer. I DO know that People download plans and use them. Do you NEED a serial number ? Is it a requirment ? I guess it is as RAA ask for it when applying don't they ? But then, plans are dirt cheap, someone went to alot of work to ensure you could build the plane, it was safe and it flew so it worth the $500 IMHO. Then some... Just saying

  5. Howard , if your. Looking for cheep ,I'm prepared to let you come and use my moulds and build yourself an Avocet , you have the Floats , it will only cost you time & materials , be a good way to get another one out there , the 6 cyl D motor would be my choice for the next one , its the right H/P for amphib.074_stirrer.gif.5dad7b21c959cf11ea13e4267b2e9bc0.gif

Interesting aircraft... do you have any info ? Not that Im interested. Got a new plane I cant even collect ! RAA :-(....

  6. Just to state the obvious in case anyone missed it, the aircraft was well and truly airborne say 100 feet over the parked aircraft, on return he touched down at where the aircraft was parked so my point is if the strip length was shorter he may not have made it given he had everything in his favour include no weight i.e. passenger. Also in strong wind there is advantage to get back but the chance of stalling in turn much higher plus a much faster ground speed. ( referring to steep turns downwind if someone has a easy explanation for the inexperienced so they may understand the danger of the downwind turn in strong wind. Please do so. )

I posted this video ( not mine ) to domonstrate that IMHO, the 180c turn back is rarely ever, a safe option and never the safest option. This was done with no passager, probebly in nil wind ( hench the pilots ability to take off and land in different directions and I would suspect, minimal fuel so in a very artificial environment. Try it with 2 up, full fuel and your weekend bags... It may not come out like that at all !

  7. Get involved with the SAAA. Most of the projects are RV's. VERY popular build kit Nev

Thanks mate - Yes I joined pretty recently. Cool little mag they put out as well !

Hongie, The planes will be located near mudgee when we finish our hangar in a few months. That picture was taken on our lot !

  8. That Bill Hemple ! You can order that as a ARTF for about $3500 - 10k all up... However.......

The biggest rc plane goes to this man who has scratch build an 86% ( yes you read it right ! ) Pitts Python !

  9. I know 001_smile.gif.2cb759f06c4678ed4757932a99c02fa0.gif but Giant scale models are an entire hobby in them self - I have a fair few ! Love full scale more but I LOVE flying my 40% Sbach doing extreame aerobatics that I'm just not good enough nor experienced enough to do inside the aircraft !
