IBob. Not able to provide a photo of my Savannah install at the moment———I’ll try drawing the layout and post that (later). The later XL and S models had improvements the oil cooler location being just one. Interestingly there is 912 powered aircraft in SE Qld that has both its radiator and oil cooler mounted horizontally (works just fine apparently)
On early model Savannah’s the oil cooler is mounted behind the radiator. On hot Queensland days(say over 35degrees) the oil on climb out will get to 120 degrees. No mods that I have tried have helped in this regard.Does anyone have any ideas on what might work to bring the temp down
A VG Savannah with the same leg space as an S model—-yes it is possible.Moved the pedals forward about 80mm and shortened the steering rods(access to a lathe helps for the rods helps but not essential) Make up some links to lengthen the rudder cables.Brake cylinders now floor mounted(hand activated). Some mods to the seat base (original seat bases designed for 5foot nothing Italians). What a difference——long cross country flights now happening
Marty. ICP before they made Savannah’s were into making automotive wiring harnesses. In my opinion /experience Savannahs have pretty good electrical systems You say you have a Savannah harness already———you are on the home straight. If you have access to a Savannah just copy everything you see. There is a Savannah wiring diagram that any builder should have in their possession.I will attempt to find /post the diagram
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve seat comfort for the longer flights.Sheepskin, wooden beaded seat covers, bike pants? a seat cover from the Airhawk company. What are your thoughts?
