  1. Thanks for that Kasper. I do remember seeing the "Foot launched" endorsement written somewhere and wondering what it was about.I just thought it would be great to throw a PPG in the back of the ute and go for the odd fly on one of those cold clear mornings......

But I don't want to join HGFA and pay their fees or do 25 to 30 hrs training either....got enough on my plate with RAA....

This bloke makes it look so easy...

I know what you mean Downunder about the HGFA fees, they are ridiculous,I remember my weightshift trike flying

days with them, sometimes we complain about the RAAUS,but at least they made a good effort and cosiderably reduced my rego last year with my Aerochute.I guess if the HGFA get more members they will reduce their fees too.Good way to promote this sport is promote it here I reckon.Love the video, why have a complex rocket powered

back pack when you can have one of these. What is the fuel burn per hour on one of these?

  2. Hi Fred Great video. I have heard about Hedlow over the years when I was gliding at Dixalea and all ways good reports. It must have been closed a number of years ago and reopened some time. Your video was great to see the lay of the land and approach tom the airstrip and hangars. I've flowen Mackay to Emu park twice each way on muy way to Old Station and Watts bridge this year and did not fkly over Headlow. I'll have to call in next time I'm down that way. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the next flight. Also was good to see abit of how you control an fly the PPC. RegardsMike

    Thanks for that Mike

Nearly thought about giving it a miss that morning,as there was a bit of fog around, but with

some luck it lifted soon as the sun came up.If you want to do a fly in ,you would just need to call Judy on 0438789954

as prior approval is needed, and she will be more than happy to help you.Emu Park sure to be on my next list.Cheers

  3. Beautiful day today .Sun is shining , birds are chirping & kamikaze Bee's are finding their way through the vent in the canopy & smacking sting first into my left forearm (throttle hand) whilst VERY late on final !

The impact was noticeable , the sting bearable , but the distraction could easily have cost me a pair of underpants :(

I had to leave it hanging there whilst I completed a fairly ordinary landing & taxied clear of the runway .

It got me thinking though , what have others endured or had "throw them" whilst on approach?

    Cheers

    Troy Rep.

Troy, your lucky you have no allergies to bee stings by the sound of it.Being in the case of flying a plane, the situation could have been much worse if you were not on your late final to touch down,as symptoms for bee sting allergies can be

    severe.

  4. Trailer looks more like it attaches to a ute rather than a prime mover. It's ball hitch would have been just fine until he hit a bump. It is easy to leave the hitch unlocked if you leave the locking lever resting above it's tab.

Always good to have a backup system like the 2 chains and shackles attached,if that was the case.Poor fella, must

have really looked forward to flying it.

  5. Oh christ no Bob,I can assure you my feet were firmly planted firmly on terra firma when I decided to look at this Wi Fi

problem,Sorry when I metioned booby traps I meant the Go pros wrecking your whole weekend when the battery goes flat because of the Wi Fi problem.Seen too many Aircrash Investigation series to know the dangers of distractions in the cockpit.I am not too sure what your glide ratio is on your Jabiru is,but with an Aerochute you virtually drop like a brick with the throttle off 10-1 glide ratio in fact got to be

carefull there especially at 500 feet circuits and momentarily taking your foot off the throttle to do radio calls so other pilots can hear you because the engine is right behind you screaming. No your not too old Bob,you just have good airmanship not to do that.

  6. Thanks Mike, got a few more as well as some nice video too. Will see about putting the video together and posting when I get time.Yes Fred, batteries don't last long in the action cameras. I had one that swelled enough to not fit in the slot anymore.

    Wayne.

You have to watch the Go Pro Hero 3 wi fi connectivity booby traps,as I found out at Eidsvold. They have blue light flashing on the side of the camera when the the wi fi remote control is enabled,as i use one on my wrist, which enables you to remotly switch from taking pictures to switching back to video mode. The trap is when you are finished and disable the Wi Fi blue button by pressing it till it switches off,you are led to believe that its off,but it is

still running in the background and draining the battery. You have to go to your set up menu and and go to Wi Fi

and switch it off from there.Just thought I would mention it as I would gather a lot of other pilots have had the same problem.

  7. It was driving me nuts too hahahah the whole flight....I like the way you talk yourself through the flying too...verbalising is a good thing to maintain. BUt the engine noise is terrible was hard to hear the speech very well. I have a airband radio on at the farm when I am there incase anyone wants to fly in as I can talk to them as well.Glad you got it fixed. I will have to fly over to Biggenden its not far from my place at Booyal

My radio is a Icom-A15,the battery was on the low side, but not flat, but it was definatly the cable.I love the

Biggenden aifield,I fly there all the time, its never busy when i am over there, and its always maintained very well. These Telex headsets which i purchasd should be a lot better,as I heard some good reviews on them.Unfortunatly with Aerochutes

having the engine right behind you have to take your foot off the throttle when doing your radio calls.but hey i wouldnt swap my string pulling flying mattress for the world.

  8. Your radio was locked on transmit the whole flight today on 126.700 you need to get it looked at.It was either 486 or 406

Thanks for that Mark,it was driving me nuts yesterday,on my headset making crackling sounds even with the sqelch adjusted properly ,I found the culprit,it was a broken wire on my headset to intercom cable.I purchased a new headset today.

  9. The Harvard graduates are the lawyers who make money out of divorce cases and therefore Harvard graduates do not want the divorce rates to go down.

I think when you really study it dissect it and analyse it , and put it under the microscope ,take blood samples etc etc, marriage is all about give and take, you give and the ex missus and the lawyers take.

  10. For me it was seeing off the relos at Tullamarine airport as 14 year old and seeing those massive 747-100 jumbos taking off and climbing in the air and just being amazed by it all. Then

coming home and seeing those Cathay Pacific adds in the mid 1970s with the Barry White love theme music on the add ,still the best add I think. That is what made me want to fly.

  11. Sad to see, the guy just wanted to go out for a fun fly then this.A 10.00 am flight probably just really caught hin of guard with the turbualance at that time of day with that small

elliptical canopy I prefer the comfort of the first light or last hour of the day flight, its hairy enough with a 370 sq ft rectangular rigid canopy at 9.00am.Condolences to family and friends.

  12. Got the cruise controls from Aerochute last week for $215 plus shipping, took her out for a 2 hr flight sure was great to have it on.They are a very easy to set up took me a half hour. They got them on their website and all you need to know. There isnt anything electrical about them which I like, just a simple cable and locking design.

  13. The new online payment system does not work, its useless I logged on ok,filled out the form, pressed the payment key and it did not direct me to a payment confirmation page as

it should.I checked my netbank payment details and nothing has been taken out.Best to just do it the good old fashioned reliable way and just pay over the phone.I dont

know why they got rid of the old pulse online payments system, as it always worked.

  14. Probably in a container waiting to be loaded on a ship by now, given their relative rarity. GPS trackers have come down in price to the extent that they are a viable proposition now - it can be enormously satisfying to roll up and repossess your goods. I once found a stolen car (pre tracker days) more than a year down the line and had to listen to the grub who'd bought it for a fraction of the true value, whining because he lost out.

Yep I got one of these little trackers, they are great and gives you good peace of mind.I got mine from Jaycar for $149 bucks and these trackers do everything.Mine is a Response model LA-9011 you can download the manual on your computer and check it out.I wish the poor chaps from Aerochute had them.
