From memory ( which is not good) it was after a through bolt mod performed, the clamping force was too tight according to the independent investigation ( not jab).
-
We have had case halves pull in too tightly and cause bearing journal wear. You recall the details of that deadstick ?
-
How?

Note Dear Sir/ madam...
Generic auto reply. I'd disagree with the statement that casa consulted with stakeholders tho, or was the original draft and subsequent call for depositions considerd " consulting"?
The ballet goes on. The recent SB for " school aircraft" deserves a good look too. Seems to be a patch up job, but at least the action seems to be inspiring ... Action...
-
True, the name has been affected badly by poor reliability problems. Let's hope they are on the right track with these mods.
-
Hard to imagine that a 'school aeroplane" SB is any sort of long term fix, more likely to be a way to stop the failures (attempt to) while they sort the underlaying problems.
At least something is happening! Prey, the schools arent "testing' another idea tho, and they will apply it over the board IF it works..If thats the case, they can pay me as a test pilot !!

Or
Or...Hullo Bruce. You can forget most of the rubbish so far posted against your enquiry.Firstly. As a pilot who is not an instructor, the only thing you need to do, is sign the medical declaration when you join RAAus or do a BFR.
DO NOT contact RAAus. DO NOT fill in or submit any other form. It does not pay to be naive or unstudied in this matter!
With reference to: "Assessing Fitness To Drive for Commercial and Private Vehicle Drivers" which is a joint AUSTROADS and NATIONAL TRANSPORT COMMISSION publication, designed to assist medicos, we find (page 37)
Cardiac pacemaker insertion. Minimum non-driving period for private driver......2 weeks.
So. Ground yourself for that period. If things are going well as judged by both yourself and your doc, go flying!
Please download and read the relevent parts of this publication to get the full picture.
Good luck!
Fred
answer he medical questionare properly and rely on qualified doctors to make that decision..
Jesus nong... Really??

Its a bit of a wank... You have to forward the entire questionare to the RAA. Not just the final page where the MD signs you out.

Never mind. I found it . Thank you. Some incorrectly fitted cht gauges in some instillations..
Not much concern there, but thanks for the heads up.

A list of awb's?

What exactly are we meant to be looking at?

Link?Thin end of the wedge? I and I'm sure you, have just received a CASA email detailing a warning about Rotax engines failing in flight. Does this mean that CASA are about to inflict the same grief on Rotax owners that they have already saddled us Jabiru owners with? I've been following these discussions with interest and overall have noted one thing CASA have right; the old saying "United we stand, divided we fall" instead of standing together as a community of like minded enthusiasts, there is so much divisiveness that we are making CASA's apparent intention of destroying Sport Aviation easy! I find that incredibly disappointing. -
I know a bloke selling a good rotax (arent they all?).. PM me if your looking.
-
It depends on the type. A defribulating pacer is a no go.
-
Yes, I cant think of why anyone would bother....

Very very sad. I feel for the family, and even more so if the accident is weather related as it totally avoidable.
Its a pet subject of mine, and many other Instructors Im sure.
Its all about setting limits (I reckon) defining them and sticking to them. When assessing the weather for students solo's etc, I use the VFR alternate minnimas as a 'guide'. By that I mean, if a pilot was to be planning a nav TO the airfield you are flying from, would that airfield require an alternate to be carried?
ie. Cloud base scattered at 1500ft agl (or worse), and vis 8 km's ( or worse) Tempos or inters for TS or RASH+ etc.
I reckon its a good place to start anyway. Sure, its perfectly legal to operate below these minnimas, but when deciding weather to fly, I reckon they are a good benchmark to make your decisions around. Are conditions forecast to improve or deteriorate etc.
We may be jumping the gun here, this prang may not have had anything to do with the WX, but it certainly should give us a push to discuss things I reckon, the wx certainly hampered the search for the wreckage.
