The final report is out and it appears carby ice was the possible cause of the engine failure, also aircraft was heavier than it should have been. http://atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2014/aair/ao-2014-149.aspx

Curious...... How tall are you? The photo of you in your profile dwarfs the aircraft and makes it look like a toy Do you have any problems flying in it?

Not sure mate, so long ago. I was based on the border but worked all over the bottom half of NSW such as Goulburn, Cootamundra, Temora, Wagga, Tocumul, Deniliquin ahhh so many more but can't remember. I remember landing on a racecouse to take a whiz one day, the horse trainers couldn't believe what they were seeing. Must say there were a few private strips that we landed on, landed at a strip somewhere in the middle of knowhere and this bloke was restoring some aircraft, the tedious fabric work but he was doing the best job I have ever seen! The strips we landed at were on peoples private farms and I must say they were always welcoming and made us a coffee and in occasions morning tea, it is amazing how aviation brings so many people together.

Augustine, Forgot to mention that I did some flying out near Dalgety, flew aerial survey down there back around 2007. Nice place and lots of ag strips to land on.

Flight Aware shows VH-JQF due to arrive there around 8:20pm. Not sure if it's that aircraft.

They show if you have been quoted or if someone likes your posts. The flag is if someone has liked a post or quoted you, the envelope is how many private messages you have. The flag can also show other things if you have selected alerts in your control panel. I have just quoted you so you will see an alert from me under the flag.

I got a refund on the 11" macbook air as officeworks had the 13" for $15 more (wow). Kyle, Do you prefer to run a vm or boot camp as the latest air only supports 10 and not 7 via boot camp. Trying to decide if I should buy Windows 10 for $150 and use boot camp or run windows 7 within a vm. Also, I take it you do a bit of radio programming so would there be any issues with using windows within a vm and accessing the usb ports for radio programming? Oh, can you burn dvd's from within a vm and with an external usb drive? I read some where that Parallels can't. I know that there has been problems circulating in relation to this. Parallels sounds good as you can run windows programs without opening the full windows vm, it simple opens the windows program within osx and straight from the dock.

Welcome to the forum Steve Tooradin "home of the rusty ship" As Biggles said it's best to speak to your doctor before you start spending any money. I think you may have problems with a PPL based on the Class 2 medical, I am only saying this as I know someone who was in a similar position and CASA said sorry we cannot issue a medical. I don't want to ruin anyones dreams and each situation is different so thats why it's best to speak with your doctor or ring the CASA avmed team on 1300 428 633. I am not sure on RAAUS but as your ultimate goal was a PPL I would be speaking to avmed. Edit: Remember there are pressure changes when flying and doctors will need to look into your injury to see if this could cause problems. I am not a doctor so avmed is who you need to call, but be prepared for your medical to take longer than normal before a decision is made.

Ahhh all good :) You just said your studying at Jindabyne where you reside but you are going to resume flying when you return to Australia, so was not sure what you were meaning. All good, I take it you have emigrated to Australia? Please excuse me if I am wrong ;)

Could keep one folded up in the headset bag but the pdf is easier to produce, I guess if they wan't the original (that will be a photo copy as original will be in filing cabinet at home) I can give them the screwed up one.
