  1. Yeah, I thought it was just me losing stuff.
  2. So thats "a very very gentle halt"
  3. Check out Scott's thread on Feb 15 (Singapore Airline) - No more SQ 747's. So Yes A380's back at YMML.
  4. I'm there during the day, but not till that time of the day-night, this week....... will catch you another time ;)
  5. a notam goes out for a runway, but if the weathers playing up, their'll delay the closure, or swap runways, or cancel the whole thing. Yeah depends on the weather. Thursday is always a maintenance day for either of the runways, for the normal stuff of line markings, mowing, small light repairs. When maintenance is done on 16/34 it also depends which planes are due in or out, some prefer the longer one due to weight and pilot confidence, so it's normally closed later or it is reopened with that 30min warning for planes that request it, and that can happen a couple of times.
  6. Happy happy Day Kaye and a Fantastic new year - enjoy the to start this year with all the Gang up there, and your extended TAA family who can't be there thinking your way, have Fun, LOTS.
  7. Just the weekly runway maintenance work that is carried out each Thursday at YMML. If you've set your heart on using 09/27 the workers need that time to clear and have it ready for use.
  8. We - YMML, got the SQ A380 because of your bad weather this morning, would have been nice to see the Etihad come down and wait.
  9. Maybe a helmet and some knee pads going down the road, or when one of those unexpected palm trees pop up ? ?
  10. Anyone else seen VUF's new nose ? It's a little late for Christmas - Rudolph, and too early for the SIDs red Nose day, VUF is Hobart Honey I think, it's been re done in the new VA colour scheme, but it's had a nose problem, and I don't think there was any spare whit ones, so it has a red one - lots cute, but weird. Heard a rumour that VA's A330 XFA flew from Adelaide to Melb with it's gear down Monday night.
  11. MEL isn't an easy place to get to for spotting without a car, the main viewing areas aren't on a bus route, so ya can't get off along the way. Getting to the Airport terminal from melbourne your looking at a $50 + taxi ride, or $16 Skybus goes from Southern Cross train station in the city to the airport each 10 min. Or you get a train to Sunbury and then a local bus to the aiport, but that trip is not a regular trip maybe one an hr. If you have a look at a map of the airport, there's two public viewing area's, to the North on Sunbury - Bulla Rd at the roundabout, if you go alittle though past that you come to an old church on Uniting Lane, thats where you're find the true spotters. The other is over on the west near the tower on Operations Rd, on the way to that one near an airport Gate 22 onwards is a good spots, but near Gate 22 you will be at the Southern end of the 34/16 runway. If you look at a map of Operations Rd you will see that you can get near a couple of Hanger areas, were there's always something sitting outside. Your best bet from walking from the terminal area for viewing the 27/09 runway, as it isn't far around to the North, on the road that takes you to the first viewing area I mentioned, you'll see the lead in lights. Ya need a car Mate.
  12. Has anybody else seen the new paint job on REX - EKX ? They are advertising a shark cage diving website, with a picture at the back of two divers in a cage with a shark circling, they have placed it that the faces of the divers are the windows of the REX. So if you were looking out from the REX your faces would be the divers. It has got me thinking though, hoping this REX doesn't fly over water, it could be an omen !
  13. G'day Nuno, welcome. We just had recently a G-V 550SP registered to Portugal stay awhile in YMML - CS-DKC, I think in came for the tennis, as it was in the same time last year.
  14. Willie, thanks for your first question. I've also been thinking the same for awhile, but get confused with the many options out there. and thanks to everyone for the great info. - Pete

I also agree with Willedoo. And winsor68. - I've experienced the extent that the Americans have to their flag, even it just touching the ground, it sort of freaked them out how we would treat our flag. but burning is a different thing, it being done by radicals overseas whinging about the slightest thing, even a bad cricket decision, thats one thing. It does hurt though it being done on home soil. Oh and the spitting by the kids.

Will part of the formallities be the burning of another flag again, while adults allow children to spit on it ???
  17. Great this will come in very handy reading Darren's comments !

Actually its our shoe, she is a public servant, our taxes pay for her home and food, and her wage, which was used to buy the shoe I'm thinking !
