    SO

If all the pertinent information is on that program we  cannot get access to CoA CoR or any attachment.

    AFTER we pay our money.

    Am l right here ?.

Well i dropped in to the viewing this arvo and was told all paperwork was available for perusal.

  2. A flight from Bankstown, Camden, or The Oaks to Orange under this proposal would be an impossibly dangerous exercise.

Who would want to sneak over Katoomba at 1500AGL in a Westerly wind over 15 kts?

It can be very rough in that area when there is very little wind.

This Proposal affects any flyer on the East coast wanting to fly anywhere west.

I just cannot understand the thinking behind this Proposal.

Presumably dual channel receive models would qualify. I think they figure they'll need this in the plan because if they can see these 'conspicuous' VFR targets then they want to be able to control them, especially around terminal areas with RPT in the mix. In this scenario, single channel radios would have switched from Area to CTAF which Centre can't get through on.

Again, what a way to instigate industry-wide tech-culture change: throw cat among pigeons; standby for 'feedback'.

In the RAA response to Airservices received today, it talks about Dual Monitor single VHF Radios not acceptable.

    Dont know why ?

  4. Mine was also into Canberra as part of the final 5 hour Nav for the PPL.

In those days you had to demonstrate competancy in landing at a Primary Control Zone Airport.

After achieving the PPL, I did many flights into Sydney for the proverbial Cup of Coffee, no fees of course, and one memorable time they let me taxi my Cherokee to the Intl Terminal, escorted us up the Bridge, and let us wander around at will.

Then it was back to the Royal Aero Club at Bankstown where Gentlemen were required to wear ties after 6pm!

    This was the early 70s.

    What memories!!

Right, but it does not transmit ADSB-B IE it is not an Extended squitter jobbie.

Ask the mfr for a ModeS-ES/ADSB upgrade.   otherwise, you will need a SkyEcho, also (maybe depending one what we end up with....)

Think I will just request a clearance from ATC which in my past experience, shouldnt be a problem.

They will be able to identify me on Radar from my transponder return and be glad to assist!

  6. Ok so I have a TRIG Mode S Transponder. From memory cost about $2500 back in 2014.
It’s calibrated with the Encoder, and transmits my Rego, Alt, and airspeed. Has its own HEX Code obviously.
It’s the small one that fits in the instrument hole and is a companion to my TRIG VHF Radio.

I believe I satisfy the requirement to operate in Class E from my reading of the requirements.

Flight plan and ring them up it will be ok

Bear in mind that Camdens fuel bowser us AirBP Carnet only, so unless you have a card, you will need to borrow one from the local flying school and pay them cash for whatever fuel you purchase.

Make sure you check availability and type of payment at any proposed landing places

  8. Point taken Skippy,

As Roundsounds said, Victor 1 is not hard, but can be challenging st 500ft in turbulent conditions!

    Here is another scenario....

Fly to Camden, land and refuel.

The Controllers at Camden are very helpful and all you have to say is UNFAMILIAR with Camden and they will talk you in.

Then, Camden to Prospect Resv (easy to find), across to Parramatta, again easy to find with its high rise buildings and Rosehill Racecourse, then up the lane to Patonga.

There are very good briefing notes on navigating the Lane, and strobe lights at Pennant Hills to keep you on course.

At weekends, you may find that Williamtown is released to 1000ft coastal, so you can remain in Class G along the beach.

The Briefing Office and Notams will confirm this on the day.

My offer to elaborate on the above remains if you wish.

Easy question - I would advise any student pilot (includes freshly minted ones and the not so fresh, facing a new challenge) to stick with the instructors that know them & their capabilities.

This Pilot has a RPL and a NAV Endorsement!

Said he operates at Canberra in Controlled Airspace.... he is not a Student.

My aim was to talk to him about the Sydney basin and get a feel for his experience/ confidence.

  10. And just for something different if all else fails, photo is a Windshield Antenna kit.

One end to a Handheld comm, the rubber duck antenna on the other end and it sticks anywhere on a plexiglass surface.

I have one, not tried in flight yet, but in the Jab you can attach the antenna to a rear window.

    Just a thought!!
