  1. so what you are really saying is if i do put an aircraft online i can actually make a bit of money in the process ? i hear you on the screening of instructors ect, not sure if i would like the fly away bit...
  2. WOW i like the idea but hate the idea of having to hire my own aircraft and a learner like me flying my pride and joy. but on the other hand after 5 years it will be mine :) also i suppose i would have to consult a flying school and look at there requirements and what aircraft they would like... do yo make some sort of contract with the school as to hours max to use it ect ?
  3. ok so let me see if i have an idea, airports like melton, bacchus marsh, ballarat ect are CTAF which means you must use radio if you have one fitted. CTA would be moorabbin, essendon ect. if the tower is unmanned it is a CTAF ? i have a couple of maps and a copy of the new ERSA on the way but the new ones are about a week away. then i will be able to have a look and a play, make a dummy flight plan and have people have a look and see if i am doing it right ;)
  4. ok another one... is CTA and CTAF the same common traffic advisory frequency ?
  5. hi all if camden is CTA cant we fly in anyway ? i thought we only had to steer clear of GAAP airfields ? or are they the same... how do you know camden is not CTA for the day ? via NOTAMS ? come to think of it, we can fly into avalon in u/light as long as the airfield is not opperating, once again how do you find out to plan a flight ? NOTAMS ? i want to eventualy do a couple of flight all over the place but dont want to get into a situation where i get to an airfield and get told to piss off as i am Raa ? scary thought Please excuse me not knowing much as i am only learning and have a habbit of asking stupid questions. i will be doing nav x soon then all hell will break loose, plan to visit alot of airfields and pick the brains of all you pilots to build up my own personal knowledge base...
  6. hi all, i am thinking of buying a jab160 and wanted to know how you go about putting online. i figure if i use it for 2 hours a week training it will pay for itself ? any ideas ?
  7. LOL yeah well i did them all. thanks i found out how to use the whizz wheel, quiet simple actualy. i think todate my log book says i have 13 odd hours up .....wo hoooooo... now all i need is my own X-Air
  8. i can not seem to log into http://www.auf.asn.au i need to get a membership app form :)
  9. Hi all, well after posting here about 18 months ago and doing some talking i faded into the background , work commitments, having a son :) ect but today i went for my 1st instructional flight since August 2002. i had only had 10 hours in my log book when i stopped flying with rudi in ballarat in the trusty old jab LSA but finally decided to bite the bullet and go to ballarat and dig the log book out of the attic of the ballarat aero club (where rudi dropped off al the log books). when i got it i went for a walk over to inbound aviation and got talking to roger and manny. i was so excited i almost wet myself. manny told me he could take me up at that very moment and i jumped out of my seat and was at the left hand door of the J160 like a bull at a gate..... after pre flight and a brief discussion (including what has changed in the old jab LSA as opposed to the new version) manny thought it would be good to see if i still had it. he said just treat it like the old LSA and we went flying... i taxied over to the run up bay went through the checklist called traffic ballarat b/track 23 for 18 then b/track 18 and we where off..... upon opening up the throttle i dont know what come over me but we rotated at around 60 odd kts and i kept my foot on the accelerator (RH rudder pedal ? ) after about 2 seconds i got the drift with manny giving the LH rudder a bit of a nudge :) (looks weird seeing the runway out the side windows on takeoff :yuk: . anyway we where off.... after turning right crosswind we headed out to the training area where i got a feel for keeping the pesky slip ball in its cage and the trimming and flying procedures... after about 20 mins in the training area we headed back to the circuit and all the calls came back to me like it was yesterday... i did make some mistakes and sounded like a fool but made the appropriate corrections without hesitation (well so i thought ) whilst on downwind manny thought it would be wise that he do a base, final,t&go whilst i hold the stick and throttle to feel the aircraft... all was good. upon the takeoff roll i had control again and we where off the complete another circuit with me at the controls for this one, great effort by me i thought as manny never got to touch the controls as i bought her round for a sort of circuit and touchdown.... my only complaint with myself was i need to master the touchdown as they come in slightly **** eyed and the touchdown is more like a drunk trying to ride a bicycle LOL ... i can not believe how easy it was after all these years... and look forward to seeing manny next week to complete a practice solo exam. while we are on the subject of today, i bought my 1st whizz wheel... no i am stumped..... can not figure it out and the instructions are at the best vague. happy camper signing off
  10. hi guys i will be buying my maps this weekend and a whizz wheel :) ... now i have to learn how to use it :)
  11. thanks for the heads up on the x-air...but i want a new aircraft. i am paranoid about 2nd hand aircraft.... can anyone give me feedback on the x-air people in sydney.. i recieved an email saying not to pay any money untill the aircraft has been given to me in person as he has ripped people off before ? is this true.... what options do we have out there for glass cockpits ? i am aware of dynon and skydat... are there anymore ? i used the calculator at the top of the page and know its gonna be a cold 15 tores to naromine LOL
  12. ah thanks guys. it would be a non breezy 50kts as it would be in an xair. my debacle is i want to build and fly my own aircraft. namely an x-air (cost is a factor) but i also want decent flight times to places i will frequent... well i am off to see how long to narromine :) . yes i am serious... thank you for all your comments guy's.
  13. My Breakfast Yes... Work Tonight :(
  14. hi matt, i was up at sunbury on the weekend, was that your CT4 on the apron ? nice little gigger.... much nicer to fly than the fat thing (no offence to 175 owners :) ) next to it i should imagine. we will be back this weekend for the mini flyin.
  15. hi guy's i dont have a flight computer yeat or maps (hopefully next week) but i am curious as to the flight times from ybss to yled bacchus marsh to lethbridge. cant wait to get my own wizz wheel and maps LOL
