  1. 2:01 pm Anxiety begins with incompatible OS and database7:48 pm System administrator appears to have aged 10 years in one day, caffeine infusion by intravenous drip commences.

3:52 am Ambulance and police called to attend a disturbance from within a house by a psychotic individual screaming obscenities and verbally threatening to kill something/someone. On arrival a second person seen to be cowering in a foetal position in the corner of a room with parts of a server scattered all over the floor.

It's times like these I question my career choice ...... maybe I can still get that shire job riding around on a mower listening to my ipod..... Good luck Ian :)

  2. Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one, I am the king of blowfish and other inedible fish around those parts, rumour has it you have to go further south or closer to perth for some decent fishing, (that really narrows it down I know .. I've been invited out with some of the locals maybe then ill have better luck) still beats sitting in the office though.

Spot on with the avatar! Might catch you around the aero club sometime.

  3. I'm not sure if this will answer your question directly, but our 296's battery recently died, Garmin wanted to charge something silly for a new one, so I took a chance and bought one off ebay, for approx $20 ( Hong Kong) delivered to my door. Its worked flawlessly ever since. It may be worth keeping one as a spare? I usually get a couple of hours out of the battery when not charging ( I haven't had a chance to run the battery flat and test how long it goes).

  4. ~$260 per hour dual at my club/school, for a tecnam p92. seems pretty steep looking at this thread.... It's primarily a ga school and apparently not for profit (?) the instructors probably get the same rate wether they are trAining someone for raaus or ppl/cpl.

I am however impressed with the professionalism, training and maintenance standards at the club.

  5. I'm yet to complete my Nav training and was wondering if it is possible to go over to Rottnest island in a raaus aircraft. I know it skirts pretty close to perth controlled airspace and doesn't look like you'd be able to go much higher than 2500ft. Has anyone done it before and is it even legal etc. yes I will read up the regs etc but was just curious as I reckon it could be an awesome day trip or even overnighter. Rottnest is also notorious for its crosswinds ;)

  6. We used them once as the wind was blowing hard down 27 and the sun was setting, decided to wait for the sun to drop behind the horizon, gives you another 10 mins or so before last light, enough to do a circuit and land, activated the lights it was like Xmas :) landed with plenty of light to spare.

It's safer than landing into the sun or trying the cross runway which would've been a hairy crosswind..... Having the instructor with me also helped as I wouldn't want to cut it that fine normally.
