  1. Hi all....has anyone got a Vertex VXA-710 Hand held Tranceiver? Im curious as to their quality and usable air range? Can someone give me a first hand review? Will be doing some Trike flying soon and was wondering if this radio would be suitable for this kind of use? thank you in advance Scotty
  2. Well done Ian..Im half way through this book and learning a lot. Scotty
  3. Yes, very good diagrams clarifying what the text is saying. It doesnt have all the glossy pics but good diagrams. I got through a bit more today while at work. really enjoying it and learning a lot. Maybe Ian can look at getting it in for his shop. I dont want to give it too good a rap in case Ian thinks im trying to sell it! There is a lack of good Trike specific books on the market and this is a good one. regards Scotty
  4. Well, I emailed Lucian one of the Authors for this book and in a week it arrived on my door step! How good is that!! I am up to chapter 3 at the moment and this seems a very good book. I will let you know how I find the rest of the text but so far very good and Trike specific which is what I wanted. Scotty
  5. Hi Tim...yes do tell!! I have the plans and was about to start building but have got to move in October. I am also having a hell of a time finding the right wood sawn the correct way here in Australia. Wicks Aircraft do a kit for this plane but I have found out the measurements given to them to make up the kit were wrong with the spars being too short. I dont want to import a kit and find the wood is wrong! Wood world in QLD may have it but I need to get up there to have a look at what they have. In the mean time I am wanting to get my Trike ticket and look for a secondhand Trike. I am on my way to Tamworth in October so will have a look out at Lake Keepit and see what is going on out there in the way of Trike flying. Let me know what you have found. Regards Scotty
  6. Did this supplier list eventuate? Maybe im looking but not seeing....Scotty
  7. Peggy2...no not Chris but I flew his Trike from his strip. Im in Oberon as well. Where are you? Scotty
  8. Peggy2....you said what I was thinking ...!! So what did you find that was more Trike specific? As you said we have covered all the other stuff during our GA training so are looking for more Trike specific. Scotty
  9. Thanks Bill...I have the Cosgrove book here but not much Trike specific stuff so will get this one too. Thanks for your input Scotty
  10. Hi Bill....Thank you for that.....I am looking for a book which is Trike flying specific. I am a GA flyer so know all the basics and weather etc, I am looking for a good text for flying Trikes and the techniques used. regards Scotty
  11. Hi all...I just found this book on the web. I am a beginner in Trikes although have a PPL GA license. Has anyone found it a good text in relation to Trikes? http://www.freeflying.com.au/trikebook.asp Regards Scotty:big_grin:
  12. Chris..you kept that one a secret from me! ;) Scotty!
  13. Hi all.....just considering my options for my Piper J3 Cub build about to start. Just out of curiosity what would be the average price for a rebuilt Jabiru 2200 so I can compare to new? Scotty
  14. First Natfly and loved it. Oh that original Piper J3 Cub! Hope I didnt soil it too much! Got 170 photos for my full size build commencing soon! Scotty
  15. Thanks Doug...having a good read as I type! I appreciate your help. Scotty:)
  16. Thanks Doug and Ian....a great start. They look like they can help. Ian, I will send you a PM to discuss about the Wicks gear. Anyone else have any wood suppliers here I would love to know. regards Scotty:)
  17. I just received the plans and manual from Light Miniature Aircraft in the USA for the 100% Scale J-3 Cub. This is a wood version. What I am interested to know is who in Australia supplies wood for Aircraft construction? I would like to investigate different types of wood like Hoop pine compared to Spruce etc. Can anyone share their experiences with me and give me some contacts for wood suppliers. Thank you in advance. Scotty:)
  18. Hi Ian....sorry for the delay in replying. I just ordered the Plans for the 100% J3 Cub replica from LMA. It will be a long slow build depending on time , money and space but I will get there one day! Im looking at the Jabiru 2200 engine unless I can locate a Continental C85hp or the like. Scotty:)
  19. Hi...is there anyone here building the J3 Cub from Light Miniture Aircraft? http://www.lightminiatureaircraft.com/index.htm I wouldnt mind receiving some feedback on it. regards Scotty:)
  20. Hi Chris.......now im envious! Glad you have been doing some hours! It was good the fuel line was easily purchased. catch up soon....Scott ;)
  21. Hi Chris.......Im famous at last! ;) Seriously, how did you go locating some new fuel line? Look forward to catching up again! Scotty:keen: My Hawker Typhoon
  22. Hi.....I recall seeing an advert for a Husband and Wife Flying school in Tumut I think, that has Trikes? Can any one give me their Web address? Thankyou
  23. Hi Chris...Great to hear from you. I thought I was the only person interested in Trikes around this neck of the woods! I am in Oberon. Are you talking Mount Panarama or the Mount between O'Connell and Oberon? It would be great to catch up and I would love to check your Trike out. My email is : [email protected] Regards Scott
  24. Thanks for all the advice guys. I have contacted Frank who sells the Jodel Plans and hehas put me onto a few sites. I am going to follow this forum often so might call on you guys for some help ;) Scott
  25. Hi Ian.....Sounds like you had a multitude of fun! Maybe I am too big for it. I am 6'1" and around 84kg. Could need a shoe horn to get in it. Maybe take the second seat out and make it a single seater! Just joking! So where abouts is Rodds Bay? I like the look of the Corby and Aircamper but I would say the altitude I am here, 3500 ASL,may be a concern on a hot day in summer for the Aircamper. Arthur has been telling me about his Jodel 18 build and it looks like it could be an option. Should do some investigation on the cockpit width on that to compare to the Corby. Regards Scott Bubbleboy
