Fuel pump turned on for the second half helps it to even out.
I believe new Jabs cant turn one side off? taps on the pillar were deleted.
Mine has visual glass guages and they look terribly uneven but when you turn a tank off it rises to same level on both sides.
Ive given up worrying about it , sometimes when refilling theres a difference between sides but only up to 10L, probably because I wasnt level when flying.
I hope to never being down to my last 10L and not over a strip.

"Most everyone here can see it will not affect their brand of flying."
That unless they make most regional centres CTAF-R, which I think was a plan put forward.

I think you might IF you dont want to change seating numbers
Reckon finding a VH registered version and changing might be cheaper and easier
Of course you need to have reqd TSO instruments etc etc
Im keen to know if you can convert though
Keep us informed

HEI ignition kit wont fix the no cranking problem. That means solonoid stuffed or starter isnt getting power
By the sound of the clicking noise thats the solonoid not getting full power or its stuffed
-
Thats a different issue - normally they wind over OK just wont fire.
Id be checking for basic electrical problem, Power isnt getting to the starter OR dodgy earth, or restriction in engine.
Check volts in Bat then, volts on bat when starter pressed, check volts at solonoid (both sides), then volts at starter - all should be similar, wherever you see less volts is where the blockage is.
Solonoids do fail - theres another topic here about it somewhere
And watch the prop!!!!! in case it does turn over.
I recently had a system - not an AC - replaced battery, starter, cables. Did these tests above and found brand new battery, very expensive AGM, was faulty, charged to 12.5, soon as it was loaded dropped to 9V

I reckon it could be to do with very lean settings of carb and weak ignition setup
Hot water on the carb, id guess would make fuel a bit more availiable - richen mix just a bit
Mines a J200, running old linear needle in carb and starts no problem - uses a bit more fuel than maybe it could but who cares if it avoids these start problems. It does spend nights in a hanger.
It says to me this shouldnt be that hard to fix. Interested to see what Jab comes up with

Battery characteristics
The high output then stop would be of great benefit to Jabirus
The require very high crank speed for start and the Odyssey falls below this quite quickly
Id suggest maybe Jabs require close to full chatged battery for effective start.
When cold, battery old, slightly crook connection then it cant deliver max volts and you only get a few seconds of max crank speed
Incidently Ive got a 550hr J200 and fitted new batt last winter and havent had an issue since then. I just turn over by hand maybe 10 times before a cold start ~ 2 deg C
If these new batts work then scratch another kilo or 2 for jump leads??
In regards to COG, Jabiru are going to great length to move weight off the nose - theres a reason why fuel header tank moved to behind rear curtain from under LH seat
Some J200's have lead shot in the tail to help fix COG issues
Bundy should be able to calc COG with correct weights and aircraft info

I agree, regarding IFR, not only am I not qualified, Im not sure its a good idea in RAA type A/C. In the US it seems they talk about it alot in these types of A/C.
In terms of redundancy, yes the Dynon is newer to the A/P scene but thier other gear very good and they have good support. Ive no doubt they will have teething issues but this is an Auto pilot - cant you just take over and fly it yourself???
Dynon offers great value, as was mentioned, if youve already got an EFIS, just $750 gets you GPS tracking and levelling - keep throwing money at it to upgrade as you go
JR

Trutrak Sorcerer is $9500 USD?
Top level Dynon system including stand alone EFIS, $6500 USD
See prices at the bottom of the link
http://dynonavionics.com/downloads/Autopilot/SNF%202008%20Flyer%20-%20web.pdf
Theres also a comparison table
JR
-
I read that the Dynon Ap is fully functioned direct from the EFIS, external units make it easier to use, and allow you to pre arm the AP in the mode reqd before you task it.
Higher model AP unit gives many more functions for IFR and advanced stuff

Theres another hangered here with the same problem - they use label machine for them, seems they skimped and used the paper version not the plastic coated
You can buy a small BROTHER machine and the proper tape for under $100

LOst cover
Mines somewhere between Mildura and Narromine - if anyone sees it can they stop and pick it up!

Small cover
Brent hi,
Yeah just lost the small cover. RHS
I think its pretty weak Jab cant supply parts to and AC less than 5 years old
I heard they got rid of alot of molds.
JR

Hi guys, I have a J200B, they have bonded wheel strut fairings and a small cover piece underneath covering the main strut bolts, Anyway my RHS one has gone.
Jabiru can no longer supply these - helpfully suggested I buy 2 of the new type which would mean refinishing and painting the whole underside of the fuse
Anyone know where theres a spare or can lend me one I can copy?

Change kit?
The kit I have is just from last year - is this the latest?
The engines done 525hrs so TBO is a long way off but I doubt It will get even close
At this stage Im doing Leakdown every 50hrs and watching changes, Jab reckon if its leaking past rings its not that serious so long as it doesnt change.

fuel txr
Ian,
Yep use them nearly every day.
Problems are that fuel has to be above tank, so on a high wing this makes it hard. Also tend to get crud inside them between uses - could plug em up I guess to stop this.
Check out a couple of product I just found on the net
Facet Fuel it
Goat throat
Commercialized products to do what we are discussing, both slow but made for the job

JERRY CAN pumps!!
Guys,
I couldnt agree more regarding the Rapid flo and filter, I bought one this year and its brilliant. 205 drums its great
BUT the question was transfering from Jerry cans, I have this problem too and there has to be a easy solution. What about little diaphram pups used in automotive fuel transfer uses?

J200 economy ?
Guys,
Ive got an J200 which is still running the original carb I think. Ive bought the economy kit but havent fitted it
Engine runs sweetly at 2800, EGT all 635-689, CHT 107-160. Uses 25 lph.
Not sure what im going to achieve but putting kit in carb?
Leakdown shows one cyl leaking close to limits past rings. Do I bother fitting kit?

fuel pressure light
I have an older J200 and was going to fit one of these but speaking to Jab I realised it was a likely waste of $$. I still might do it later on.
1.Jabiru only install them to plese regulatory people
2. You are trying to measure 10-20 kpa - very low and outside the range of nearly any transducer. Although I did find one for around $100 which would do it
3. If this light did come on for real you have only the fuel left in the carb to go - ie seconds
4 Jab suggested they had never seen one of the mechanical pumps fail
5. the light in the header tank would be much more useful in a low fuel situation
Apparantly there are regular complaints (and stressful owners) with these lights.

2nd part
CHT rings mounted as per Dynon reccommendations, between plug and gasket washer - I will probably not do this again but mount directly to head under washer as getting these washers off damages them

No sorry Cent NSW
I just had one fiited to #6 for 500hrs, after fitting cowl extensions it got really hot
Hate to think what #2 was doing then
Ive now fitted D180 and all six monitored.
Great device and getting cheaper by the week. I bought it @ $0.79 AUD
JR
-
Yep the intake pipe into the carb, I havent even had a look at mine yet so dont really know whats involved
Data from my D180 in J200
CHT - 137,160,122,144,110,107
EGT - 689, 677, 643, 660, 654, 635
Cruise 2800rpm, 3500ft, 13 deg OAT, 119 TAS
Jab reckon CHT below 170 is OK but my span is a bit wide
EGT 700 max
Only relevant in cruise, bit over this for 5 min climb is OK.
What do thers reckon?

296 dash mount
While waiting to get new panel setup. I simply used some "heavy duty" velcro stuck to the bottom of the 296, then it sits nicely to the top edge of the dash - velcro is different to normal - fairly tough on carpet trim when you remove it often
Used little antenae - no problem
Seriously could be a permanent install if the panel was full.
