The Phoenix Models Tucano ARF is designed for petrol/gas power but the owner converted it to Wren 44 turbo prop.

I'm guessing they chose that aircraft because it's the easiest twin to build or to fly. Just speculating...but agree it's not the most exciting RC twin you'll see.

This model is powered by two 60cc engines. The full size went into production in 1968 and is still produced today.

Different kettle of fish. These guys genuinley prefer flying an RC plane from the ground rather than sit in the cockpit. Simple as that. Plus the rules and regs for building a full size aircraft have got to be quite a lot more complicated than what is required for a model.

John Greenfield's Tiger Moth looks majestic in the air and that's before he has even switched on the smoke which makes it look even more exquisite as it performs beautifully executed stall turns above the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at the East Kirkby Large Model Association Show. The model first flew in 2011, has a wingspan of 4.3 metres, length of 3.1 metres and and weight of 55 Kilogrammes. This model is 50% scale and is powered by a 384cc twin inline petrol engine. Yeah. Steve is a bit of a joker. It had a pilot on the day. Just not a very big one.

Mick - It's the Hempel ARTF.

He'll be performing extreme aerobatics with it at future shows and will have ~30% more power. It's a scale replica but he'll be flying it in a very non-scale way...just for entertainment of the crowds.

The pilot just wasn't ready for the day unfortunately. Steve told me the head was done but the shoulders needed making. No doubt he'll have it done by the next show.

Steve Carr's DR.I made it's first public appearance at LMA East Kirkby on 29th April and has to be said it was worth the wait. Flown with great skill in less than ideal conditions but Steve likes to put on a show for the crowd. It has a wingspan of 4.8 metres. It currently has 4 Multiplex Receivers (1 in each wing and 2 in the tail). Servos are all Hitec 44KG torque (3 per aileron, 2 per elevator, 3 for rudder). Onboard power provided by J.Perkins lithium polymer batteries. Engine is Steve's own design (crank shaft, crank case. manifolds, exhaust and electronic ignition). Cylinders and pistons are from the 3W275 engine giving 550cc. Lots of additions and modifications are planned for Steve's DR1 in 2017.

This huge radio controlled scale model is powered by a 300N gas micro turbine engine (BF300). Built and flown by Paul Metcalf with assistance from son Luke Metcalf who is also an accomplished large scale RC pilot. Another highlight from the recent Bruntingthorpe Jet Modellers Association event. Not just superb true scale flying but a truly spectacular landing. High alpha to bleed off the speed and touched down on the mains followed by the nose wheel.

Here we go. Fun police have arrived. Yes. Plenty of marshalls. This was at Bruntingthorpe testing ground at one end of a runway. A Jet Modellers Association event and well organised in terms of safety.

Luke, owner and pilot, seemed to be in particularly aggressive mood at the weekend. He was flying skin out of his Lightning to the delight of all watching. Basically it's how it should be flown anyway. Just to add that...liking how the higher resolution picks up the heat haze created out of the back of the engine, especially on the slo mo on landing at the end of the vid.

Scale perfection in the form of this magnificent 1:3.5 scale Folland Gnat. Designed and manufactured by Scale Composites in the UK. This video shows close-ups and highlights of 2 flights filmed at Bruntingthorpe at a recent Jet Modellers Association Meeting. The kit is supplied ready for radio and turbine with no building required. This particular model is powered by a Jet Central Rhino 200 turbine engine. Powerbox Royal and Futaba 18MZ radio used for guidance. The landing gear is hydraulic scale operation and supplied complete with the kit and detailed scale cockpit. The model has many features like custom designed servo mounts to choice of servo making installation very quick. Built from a DerJet kit and powered by a JetCat P-80. This relatively small jet dealt with the windy conditions really well at the Classic Jets #70 event held at Abingdon in April 2017.

Both Hawker Hunters are powered by JetCat P-140 Rxi engines with JR 28x radio and Powerbox iGyro 3e. This model is 1:6 scale of the full size aircraft. Wingspan is 1.71 metres and length 2.34 metres.

Powered by a JetCat 90RXi micro-turbine. Awesome.
