What's a good comfortable grip and what are people putting on it.
I have manual flaps so we can remove this.
Thanks Lyndon

I ride adventure motorcycle's. Tubed and tubeless. Vast experience with punctures. A plug in a tubeless tyre works perfectly. A tube in a damaged tyre or rim on a tubeless tyre works perfectly. ( Patch the inside wall where damaged)
Tubed , get the wheel off and patch it properly or a new tube. There are no short cuts. I personally wouldn't want to land on a tyre that wasn't fixed properly. Once you have done it a few times it does become easier.

At two thousand hrs I would suggest the lifters and cam are toast.
Especially if it's been run out of a school with on avgas. The last engine I built was full of sludge with the cam and lifters being roast. The rest of engine was in good nick.

The Kitfox is about to ship. Wednesday from Idaho to San Francisco. So by the end of next week it will be waiting for a LCL in San Francisco onto Adelaide. Hopefully late May early June it will arrive in Port Adelaide.
Ordered September 2024 with a two year wait time for these aircraft. I'm thinking they like the sound of the long wait, but in reality its pretty much straight away for a build slot.
Thanks Lyndon
PS. Is this the right place to update my build. ???

I think there is a two or three new ones in Australia. Should be a fun build and nice to fly for a few years

Signed off. I take it that means completed and flying. I see 883 days left on the rebate. I can register for a rego number while building I believe.

Long shot I'm sure. But here goes.
So if I'm building a VH Experimental this year am I entitled to any free government money. Sounds to good to be true ?
Thanks Lyndon

So it makes a stencil

I'm a long way from doing the panel.
I'm comfortable leaving the panel upgrade out now. I will have it done here and save some money.
Thanks for the info.

I'm in Adelaide
Does it work with paint?? Instead of powder coating??
If someone in Adelaide does it that would be preferable. But basically that's exactly what I'm after
Thanks lyndon

That's what I'm after

I really want it printed or engraved. I don't know the process. I can cut the holes out and paint it.
Then I just need it printed?

I'm finalising my panel in my kit.
Can I get it engraved here in Australia if I get a blank panel. The cost as add on is outrageous.
Thanks Lyndon

Ok. Stein in the US at the current exchange rate. 57 cents per foot.
Local here in Adelaide at EDMO is 54 cents per foot. That's 🍎 for 🍎
That's at their door pricing.
No brainer, I will get all I need at EDMO.

I've just emailed EDMO
They are in Adelaide so that's convenient

I believe 18 and 22
With some coaxial as well.
Some different colours, just need to decide on lengths. From what I see it's very cheap in the US, will it sent to KitFox and they can stick in the crate.

I think so.
I'm will get it via the USA with my kit.
Whats a good shopping list of what to get.

Yes, the G5 shares the same Pitot and temp probe.
I would be checking with the source of your info as a Magnetometer is a essential part of your setup.
Also, are you sure a GEA25 is not required ? The 915 I have seen use it and I believed the 916 also required it.
You need a magnetic compass
You need a separate GPS antenna for the G5
GEA25
I think your correct. I've misunderstood. I will have to order one of the above as well.

If you have the panel space I would personally go with a panel mount radio. Some people like knobs and it improves the resale.
Cost is similar.
Either a remote mount or panel mount Garmin radio can both be controlled from the G3X Touch.
True. I never thought of that. I can use it remotely. Plenty of room on the panel.
I will probably change that now.

Thanks , the GPS is not accurate enough for VFR ???
The G5 will have an antenna for its GPS.
I'm guessing the G3X will have the same set up. Thus two independent GPS units, or would they share the same remote antenna??
Lyndon
Fantastic, thanks so much.
One last question, I've opted for a remote radio. I will use it thru the G3x. Im thinking it's modern and will be fine. I also like the idea of working on one panel. I have also opted for the AP 507 head unit. ( Which is contrary to the above). My thinking is I like to feel knobs and buttons and wheels when making inputs to the way the aircraft flys.
Right choice on the Radio?
Thanks Lyndon

Google is your friend; https://www.pacificavionics.com.au/product/garmin-gmu-11-magnetometer-experimental/
Consider it a remote compass that feeds into the G3X Touch (and G5).
