  1. They do have Finland birch as well in the wings. With Donnie in charge now I can see them planting Birch trees in the USA. Also Rotax setting up a line in the USA, I would suggest one to two thousand units a year with the tariff would be substantial. Plus all the other Rotax engines They produce over 200,000 per year, with the US being the biggest consumer. At 50k an aircraft engine, let's say half is the tariff component. That's 7.5k Your Rotax aircraft engine is now 57500. That's 87,500 AUD. Makes them cheap in Australia 🤔
  2. I sure do. SS7 I think everyone knows the Rotax is not USA made. Not that I took any notice of where all the parts are made, nor do I care. To be fair the engine, no matter what brand is not in the kit. They only sell two kits. Firewall back and firewall forward. Maybe this is the reference to made in the USA. They are suppliers of Rotax, Garmin and lots of other suppliers I'm sure. They can supply or if you wish to buy elsewhere you can and then install into your kit. I took this option and bought the Austrian engine from Bert Flood. Lyndon
  3. I have no idea. I'm not the man who knows. I just bought a kit from what I understand is a very popular plane. It's a completely standard off the shelf kit. I would think after my dealings with Kitfox most of the aircraft are 916 powered. Maybe some 912 IS but nothing with a carby is catered for now in a new build. That's not to say you can't fit a lot of different engines. But firewall forward kits production / stock are Rotax. If you ask the owner, John McBean the Rotax 916 is their bread and butter. Like most aircraft today I think. Lyndon Rational? It's the preferred engine for this kit. Lyndon
  4. Rational? It's the preferred engine for this kit. Lyndon
  5. Ok. The aircraft has to be registered. Eg ready for flight. Finished, surveyed and rego. Then you apply if the rebate is still in the system. So pretty easy. Pre wire, pre mount, pre antenna with GTX 45R template and it's a two minute slip in behind the seat and program it into the G3X. Then apply for half the money back. Sounds easy doesn't it 🤔 Lyndon
  6. Yes your quite correct. But I was referring to the 915. 60k for a 1200hr engine or 70k for a 2000hr engine. Both ridiculous prices but no-one is going to buy the 915. Lyndon
  7. I believe you can get with and without a wass GPS. It then talks with the G3x. I think. My biggest question is at what stage of the build can you get it registered. Would be be nice to have it in place before the plane is buttoned up
  8. Thank you Lyndon
  9. The 915 is now redundant. It's 1200 TBO makes no sense to purchase it. Lyndon
  10. Of course, the E prop is a proven propeller for the Rotax engines, light, reliable. Smooth, balanced, long TBO and in their thousands out there. The prop you talk about is new, brand new. I believe Trent Palmers 915 Rotax with 600 hrs on it ate itself, ( a very expensive engine full of metal now. ) now it could be just bad luck but E prop make a big deal about Rotax engines, light propellers and gearbox longevity. It's goes without saying I'm in this camp. Lyndon
  11. In use. So i can register it before it's ready to fly ? Lyndon
  12. Ok. So it has to be registered and in use , not just building and reserved. It sounded to easy. All good it can wait then and I can pre wire etc. Thanks Lyndon
  13. Am I correct. I have a kit I'm building. I get an rego number online. I spend $8000 on a transponder. Gtx45r and antenna. Send the receipt into the government. Get half the cost back. So is it this simple. Can I buy the parts overseas? What timeframe does it take to be reimbursed. Any information or advice from experience would be great. Lyndon
  14. No. Im going with what is proven. Lyndon
  15. No. I have the type 3 gearbox for future proofing, but I'm going for a fixed pitch. The kitfox IMO does not require a constant speed. Nor does the gearbox like a heavy propeller. Lyndon
  16. Not cast in concrete but a four or blade eprop. Just get past the look of it when it's not spinning. It's not a thing of beauty Lyndon
  17. This engine has good performance to 23000 feet. I'm wanting to get to 10000 feet in ten to fifteen minutes or there abouts. That's where I like to cruise. I'm also not fond of aircraft when fully loaded on a hot day barely getting over the fence. So allround it's should be and economical reliable engine with a big safety margin. Lyndon
  18. Never even seen one Lyndon
  19. It's that or hose clamps and rubber hose. Eg the older cassette type. Like I said a complicated system. Lyndon
  20. In fact you now have 3 layout options to place them in series. To suit your aircraft I presume Lyndon
  21. That's the old style pumps. These new ones don't use rubber hoses and pipe work. Those are not available any more. Lyndon
  22. I've got the layout. Just need to buy the fittings. Lyndon
  23. Sounds good.
