  1. They both set out in marginal conditions navigating around cloud, one got caught up, experienced pilot with GA & RAA licence, wrong decision made. some time you get away with it, we have all made mistakes.
  2. Yes i can under stand this .When i first started i tried to steer it like a billy cart with your feet on the axil, any one changing from a trike to plane would have to concentrate.
  3. Back to the topic, I was told that the left brake had some how locked early in the take off run. I did notice a tyre skid mark on the runway and across the dirt to validate this story. (Or he might have had a gyroscopic effect and touched the left brake instead of the right one.)
  4. I like the song by Russell Morris ,ON THE WINGS OF AN EAGLE, I asked my wife if any thing were to go wrong i want it played at my funeral.
  5. A ragwing altralight had engine failure this morning at takeoff, time was 8.45 reached about 300ft when all went quiet, pilot done a great job to manage to turn back but the plane suffered with damage to front wheel and presume engine cowling.
  6. G day Winsor I was with Ross prior to your departure this morning in the came kitchen, he is a wealth of knowledge and I could have listened to his adventures all day. Did you get the tailwind he was hoping for?
  7. studentbiggles. Should have taken up the offer, as they say the one you knock back is the one you don't get.
  8. The problem is that when the government passed the airports on to the local councils, it should have been with something like a minimum time frame for operation as an airport only. Are we in Sydney going to lose Bankstown and Camden airports altogether? Of course it is not making money, they are charging too much for the little folks who would happily pay a fair amount to keep their private aircraft there. I think they will probably stay as airports however possibly sell off more land around them for commercial use. See the article in today's Torch. http://www.torchpublishing.com.au/news/news_detail.php?ID=83811
  9. The lease on the land has 85 years to run,any new owner could do a better job of it as to the precent,if it's kept for aviation.
  10. Yep Bankstown & Camden are up for sale. The local paper says preparations are underway to sell the two airports. ? BAD OR GOOD.
  11. Yeh i agree bruce helped me out with some endorsments ,i found him to have a relaxed style, would be my choice
  12. G'day Neil. I found your plane but did not find you. I purchased a Liberty XL2 in October (10.10.10). It is a GA plane and it has been taking me some time to get my pilot's medical due to my hearing. I finally got it 2 weeks ago, so now I can get serious about upgrading. Then I will be able to fly up and visit you some time. Cheers Steven
  13. Karen & I were there again this year. Making a last minute discision we didn't camp and found overnight accomodation at an old pub about 1/2 an hour out of Temora. Maybe the chance of rain kept a lot away. Overall we had a good time with a few new aircraft to admire. Feedback: we attended a presentation at 2.00 pm in hanger J on Saturday. Unfortunately the flying display went overtime and the aerobatic display drowned out the speaker. He had to keep stopping and going over some things. Also I don't know if there was a PA down the southern end of the field, but if there was it was not working. If all goes well we will be back again next year. Thanks to the organisers. Regards Steven
  14. Mick i think the sportscruiser will do just fine without piper, as piper have well advertised and endorsed the product.I heard that piper wanted one size fits all moto with glass dash and balistic chute as standard adding lots of weight and expense.
  15. Nice pics Rob you will have to get ash to put floats on 4868 just in case ..did you carry your life jackets?
  16. Yeh Neil ...Karen and I are well thanks ,Looking at flying photos and such but doing little myself not much time as i have purchasted the company i work for...Buying my own plane now on hold ,dont want to break the bank but if things go as plan i should have that tecnam and we will be able to fly up and visit one day and claim a bit of tax back ...regards Steven
  17. Great shots Neil must be difficult to take photos and fly a trike .. one hand on cam one on bar...
  18. ozzie i reckon your spot on. ga is dying a slow painfull death.their idea is that us raa pilots will have to upgrade to ppl,(thus a heart starter)
  19. Rachael, owning my own plane? yeh that would be great but now put on hold as i am in the process of purchasing the company i work for, so not a plane owner, but a business owner. If things work out well the plane will follow sooner rather than later.
  20. Rachel ....well,well have,nt you come a long way in such short time, I am glad your loving it,well done, karen and i will catch up with you two one day. steven
  21. Good read TOMO..Was glad to share part of that with you....regards steven
  22. I chose to keep it mostly the same with some changes like allow enter to CTA for planes that can fly min 100k so as to be able to keep up with GA in the circuit. 650kg max for RAA...
  23. HEY Rach Congrats you really don,t muck around, you want something you go out and get it, And why not life is short,........... enjoy:thumb_up:
  24. G'day Geoff, I'm a bit confused as your trim tab is hanging down under the wing where there is high pressure, where as this other one if facing upwards into low pressure. Would this one be upward to induce drag effect? Hope you can clear me up on this matter. Regards Steven
  25. While at Temora i took a flight in a tecnam sierra which had a large trim tab on the RH aileron, deflecting upwards. Is this normal for adjusting the plane rolling left? The seller sitting along side me was 6kg heavier then i, tanks were about the same, yet the plane still rolled slightly to the left . The plane is near new,and the tab was ugly positioned there.:yuk:
