Its a one of, but it can be done with a bit of knowledge and a lot of patience oh and of course a heap of cash. That`s great, well done! ....Is it a one of or will the factory produce them for sale, if so, what is the purchase price expected to be?Frank.- 1

At last our Ausflight Drifter A582 with its Rotax 80 hp 912 is fully registered. This has been a huge undertaking for the novices we are, or were. the amount of people who encouraged us and assisted us, your help was appreciated many thanks. Also to RAAus in the help they provided. a big thank you. so here it is a factory built modified 912. In the skies near you as long as you live near SE Queensland

Dave we have just been through the horror, that can be getting the weight and balance right in a drifter. keeping it within the authorised limits is crucial. if its not, and something happens then you could have a heap of explaining to do. If its balanced reasonably well, you should not need the weight in the tail unless of course you are over 125kg. There is a weight and balance spreadsheet on the RAAus site which can be modified to enable you to see just what your CofG is with and without your 500g plus fuel battery movement etc. Need any help get in touch

Farri wouldnt bother cant see the dam thing if the light shines the wrong way, hence we have duplicated with standard gauges as well. the fancy screen came with the 912 engine we used.
-
The screen gives you Speed, engine revs, CGT, Oil Temp, Water temp, Hours, and a few other things that are not important. have been able to work out how to get Netflix yet though.

I will go out on a limb here, the way I see the new rules if you want to re-engine your aircraft and have alot of cash to throw at it for engineers reports etc. you may have a case for an increase in pilot weight, originally the drifter was certified to fill a certain spot at the time, it has evolved over the years and hopefully what we have done will continue this theme. How dose that apply?.... If I`m correct! the aircraft would have originally been certified, with a rotax 503 engine, with the Max front seat weight being, 92 kg.MTOW has been increased by 20 kg! Has the size (strength) of any of the wires, been increased and has there been any strengthening to other parts of the airframe?......Just interested!Frank.

According to the original flight manual supplied with 0790, we have a max pilot weight of 100kg.Cool thank you. So what is the maximum on a wire braced? -
Stays the same, only the min has been adjustedIs there a new maximum pilot weight please? -
long as you have about 95 kg in the drivers seat no change. we do have a min 90 kg now for the pilot.Thanks. I would imagine the engine changed it somewhat. Does the pitch trim change much with power change? Nev -
Full weight and balance done. Had to have a 21M engineer report, increase in MTOW from 430kg to 450kg. just to name a few things we had to comply to.Good .. Have you done a full W&B on it? Nev- 1

It is the said aircraft, sad to say the search will continue on the A.M. tomorrow. It was a long sad day at Gympie Aero Club RG

The AeroShop, it's a vertical Straight dipole, I think that's what it's called, it's about $165 and ideal for the nose of a drifter.
And it works very well.

We have four Drifters at the moment. 2 strut based 582's 1 503 and one 912.

Havn't the foggiest who threw this into the mix about 12 near misses, could not find any verifying facts. correct me if I'm wrong. there is a hard core of people who live out here around the airport who continually complain to council about the noise from aircraft and helicopters, they have moved next to an airport knowingly, and expect rural peace and quite. And of course accolades to the ABC coverage as a prominent politician likes to state Fake news. No thats harsh its just the ABC being the ABC
I live within a kilometer of the airport, I hate noisey helicopters after dark and the occasional idiot pilot who doesnt know the rules and flies much to low in the circuit, however I chose to live here knowing that a growing airport is close. if it gets to much I will sell up and move.
