I watched the AGM to see what the strategic plan might be, if RAA goes into any commercial operations I will no longer be a member. There was some talk about the oaks? but it didn't seem serious.

The good old days may not return.

I watched the AGM and it seemed to me that they had listened to what members have been saying. The only thing I thought was a bit off was at the beginning when MM referred to the Wentworth accident "A eurofox or foxbat or something" seemed like they were trying to down play it.

Bailey-Moyes Dragonfly. I saw one at Forbes recently, didn't know they are Australian

Nobody is going to want to make that Mayday call with all their peer' s listening so everyone will land with 30 mins remaining. it might just work.

That is not a Rotax part. The cable operated chokes are simple, safe, and work well. I have used similar solinoid valves in farming and they can be troublesome.

Bolt is a coolant drain (upright) or venting point (inverted engine). 6Nm

I believe casa did somthing similar for ga schools.Agree. At the Rockhampton PDP at end of June RAA said they had an SMS written that was being made available to all flying schools so they could edit it for their operation thereby meeting their requirement of an SMS with minimum effort. I took that as a great piece of work that would assist greatly flying schools in a good way. Cheers -
So an instructor can't fly their aircraft to a new location for work?
I am sure instructing is not recreational, educational or research orientated a lot of the time for the PIC.

Good reason to keep your aircraft VH reg if you can. Plenty of doctors fly themselves to work in the remote parts.

I asked the RAA people at aus fly about this, they are written up by one of the office staff, not sure if they are a pilot but it is an area that needs improving. The two line "reports" are almost a joke at times.

I know a single CFI RAA flying school that has immaculate aircraft, hanger etc, very dedicated and enthusiastic fellow with lots of happy students. RAA could not wind him bacķ nor would they want to.Some of these little solo schools the instructor is the CFI. Thruster88 you are saying it is OK so am I.However someone in their wisdom from head office thinks it is a good idea to wind back on these solo schools, that is what I am on about.KP
Some time ago I did a flight review at another single CFI RAA flying school. My friend got about 3/4 thru his cert before he had had enough. This school no longer operates, I am not surprised. If It was the RAA that closed it I think that is a good thing.
I watched the AGM and members forum online yesterday, the only questions or talk about flying schools had to do with RPL conversions.

Skip occurs on the old 27 mhz c.b band, somthing about that freq bouncing of the ionosphere, don't think it happens on vhf.

An instructor has always needed to work under a CFIWhy has an instructor got to join a larger school? Why can't he stay where he is? People know the instructor and do not have to travel.Imagine people coming into Toowoomba from Charleville as Downunder suggests they will give up.
Leave it all alone and promote the small establishments.
KP
A senior instructor can work a remote school under a CFI
A CFI can set up a school wherever they like, I guess i don't understand what you are saying Keith.
Ps I am not an instructor.

If the small flying school is compliant only the operator can decide whether it closes or not.

Welcome FlyAdventure
Buying a used gazelle etc would be the cheapest and obviously quick way into to a flying machine.
Enjoy and always maintain your airspeed at all times.

Plenty of good reading there

It is normal to zoom up in a plane that has inertia (Not a thruster !) to best glide speed. The engine failed at 80 agl and climbed to 150 before starting the 180 turn. If the aircraft had been at 200 agl when the engine failed the pilot would have made it.

A non cowboy pilot would do the downwind at more than 80 agl just because you never know when the engine might fail. Beach inspection excuse is b.s.

Maybe if they were jetted to burn an extra 2-3 litres per hour they would be more reliable, fuel is cheap
