  1. having a trim tab is an essential part of any airframe.  Chances are, your airframe will not fly straight and level without some sort of adjustment.  In fact, when I am straight and level, my ailerons are not level.  If not for the trim tabs, I would be constantly correcting.  It's perfectly normal.  Adjust your tabs to get it neutral and enjoy!

I know when I take a good buddy of mine flying (he is 45kg heavier than me) I need to adjust my aileron tab, or I will have to lean on the stick, the whole way there.

  2. So.. This was just sent to me....

As of 2016, the project is owned by Chinese state-owned Hong Kong-based CITIC Limited and according to the company represents "one of China's largest investments into the Australian resources sector".[13]

On 15 July 2017 the private Cape Preston - Sino Iron Aerodrome [YCPR] was opened. About a dozen flights land each week. Nominally aimed at fly-in fly-out travel for company staff, it has drawn criticism from the United Australia Party for its possible strategic uses.

So what don't the Chinese want us to see they are building in the Pilberra?  Hmm... very interesting!

  3. Hey all,

So, I am not a conspiracy junky by any stretch, but can someone explain why the Cape Preston airport has been rubbed out of google maps?  (YCPR)

I went to show a mate today, and it's gone!  And you can clearly see where Google has patched the map.

FYI - This is the AD that Clive Palmer was banging on about.  Hmm... Very strange indeed!!!

  4. Having only two on the ACT list caused me to put out the question on this site. I've since found an outfit in Yass, FPV, & would welcome any comment about them.

    G'day Mate,

I own and operate FPV Australia - just outside of the ACT.  We often run courses in Canberra, and would be happy to have a chat to you about what you are looking for, and if licensing for you is even necessary.

I am proud of our reputation within the industry that I have been a part of for 13 years. ( We started Mongrel Gear back in 2006).

Anyways... Happy to help or supply you with any info you need etc etc.

    Cheers

    John

  5. OK Lads,

I have had it confirmed with RAA....

If all maintenance is carried out, as per the ROTAX requirements (rubber replacements etc etc) and is all documented, then the use for private use only is supported by RAA running "on condition" past the 15 years.  Of course, no hire, or flight school etc, which makes some sense.  But to rip out an engine from an aircraft with only 400 hours on it, when it has not given one lick of trouble, is mad, and gladly agreed to by RAA.  ? Happy days.

    J
